Monsters, Inc. 2001,  G)
Monsters, Inc.
A totally weird concept but what a movie. Its one movie best suited to be seen even when you're in the most horrible mood. A person who doesn't like animated movies would also fall in love with them after watching this one.
9
Coyote Ugly 2000,  PG-13)
Coyote Ugly
I dunno if this can be considered as a chick flick. But even if it is, I can keep watching this movie over and over again. Lovely music, cute chicks, a complete feel good movie...
10
XXX 2002,  PG-13)
XXX
This is surely my all time favorite action movie. I just LOVE the style, stunts, action of this movie. I guess I must have seen the avalanche scene at least a hundered times. Vin Diesel is unreal in this one. I still watch this movie every time its on TV.
11
2 Fast 2 Furious 2003,  PG-13)
2 Fast 2 Furious
The movie lived up to the expectations from the series. I love the car chase sequences and the way they've been shot.
12
Ratatouille 2007,  G)
Ratatouille
Yet another beautiful animated movie from the makers. these guys are creative geniuses when it comes to deriving a storyline and animation is so good. Watch this movie. It might just turn out so much better than you expect it to be as in my case.
13
Sarkar Raj 2008,  Unrated)
Sarkar Raj
A movie par perfection. Great execution, amazing performances. Absolutely not to be missed.
14
21 2008,  PG-13)
21
Now that's what I'd call a really good movie. Keeps you on the edge of the seat throughout. Great performances by Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey and Lawrence Fishburne (I like him in his introduction scene,"This is the system beating you." Corny, but quite good). Kate Bosoworth not only acts well, but manages to look damn good. Watch it for all the money, performances, Vegas et al.
15
Swordfish 2001,  R)
Swordfish
I like the way this movie was made. Real fast paced, edge of the seat thriller. John Travolta is the one of the reasons why I like this movie so much...
16
National Treasure 2004,  PG)
National Treasure
A totally edge of the seat thriller. Extremely fast paced. I like Nicholas Cage anyways, but Diane Kruger looks ravishing throughout the movie. Surely not to be missed.
17
Juno 2007,  PG-13)
Juno
The only reason why this movie shouldn't be missed. ELLEN PAGE. I don't think I could've seen this movie if it wasn't for her. PAR Excellence I say...
18
Taare Zameen Par 2007,  PG)
Taare Zameen Par
I loved this movie. The performances by Darsheel Safary and Aamir Khan are outstanding. Also the songs Maa and Kholo Kholo are really good.
19
Swades 2004,  Unrated)
Swades
I quite like this movie. Asking me, the best from Ashutosh Gowariker. Yeah its a little slow, but some scenes do give you a jolt and stay with you for a long time to come... Remember Shahrukh's journey to a village to see a farmer and his journey back?
20
No Reservations 2007,  PG)
No Reservations
A really good story. A light hearted movie. Catherine Zeta Jones gives the spark to her character. Aaron Eckhart is funny at times, Abigail Breslin is cute every frame on screen. Do not miss this one. You might end up being pleasantly surprised :)
21
Dor 2007,  Unrated)
Dor
An excellent movie. Out of this world performance by Ayesha Takia. Gul Panag looks beautiful on screen. Shreyas Talpade adds flavor to the bland movie. I was shaken during the scene when Ayesha talks to her ex husbands grandmother towards the end of the movie. A Definite favorite.

District B13 (Banlieue 13) 2004,  R)
District B13 (Banlieue 13)
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS ONE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT ALREADY! Right from the moment this movie starts to the end, you're bound to be left dumb folded constantly thinking, HOW DO THESE GUYS DO THIS :S !!! Get ready to watch some really mind twisting action sequences in this one. Don't miss this one.

Omkara 2006,  Unrated)
Omkara
Characterization, Performance, Background score, Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor and Konkana Sen Sharma (she's done a fab job) are all great. But what takes the cake is SAIF ALI KHAN with Langda Tyaagi's character... Language can be a little problem for ...(read more)some but still a brilliant movie. I like it...

Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year 2009,  PG)
Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year
A highly underrated movie in my opinion. BUT, I must also agree that more than a movie, one should consider this as an entertaining case study on Human Resources, Organisational Behavior, Planning, Marketing, Ethics, Corporate Governance, Entrepreneurship etc. The movie might not cater to a large audience base who're not inclined towards Management but still could be worth a watch on a lazy day. A definite not to be missed for a management student.

Everybody's done a good job in the movie, but I'd like to give a special mention to Gauhar Khan who surprised me by her true performance and lovely screen presence.

Pearl Harbor 2001,  PG-13)
Pearl Harbor
I love this movie for the special effects and the way it has been shot. trust me ignore the love story which is actually supposed to be "the main plot" of the movie. A movie which every action movie lover must watch at the earliest if you haven't seen it already that is.
26
Ocean's Thirteen 2007,  PG-13)
Ocean's Thirteen
Neat job done. Better than Oceans 12. I guess they're gonna do a good job in odd numbers. Skip Oceans 14, jump to 15 directly instead ;)
27
The Fast and the Furious 2001,  PG-13)
The Fast and the Furious
This movie started it all. Vin Diesel is outstanding. Paul Walkers good. The movie in all, FAB!
28
Freedom Writers 2007,  PG-13)
Freedom Writers
This is one of the most phenomenal movies I've seen in a long time. It's bound to force you to think. I don't wanna say more and tell you about the movie coz I think you've to experience this one.

Shaurya 2008,  Unrated)
Shaurya
Brilliant performances, although a little slow bit a gripping storyline. Wouldn't want to say much about the storyline since you have to watch it to experience it. Its difficult to decide who is good because all the prime characters be it Rahul Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Javed Jaffrey, Kay Kay Menon and Minissha Lamba have acted so well. I couldn't blink even for a second whenever Minissha Lamba appeared in screen as she looks so beautiful. DO NOT MISS THIS MOVIE!!!
30
The Notebook 2004,  PG-13)
The Notebook
Seen on recommendations by many friends. Must say I wasn't disappointed a bit. A very good movie.
31
The Prestige 2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
I loved this movie for its performances and the way it keeps you gripped to your seat thinking what's going to happen next. A surely not to be missed. Many might complain about the pace of this movie. But hang in there till the last minute. A very good movie.

Banlieue 13 - Ultimatum (District 13: Ultimatum) 2009,  R)
Banlieue 13 - Ultimatum (District 13: Ultimatum)
A movie which you're confident wouldn't disappoint you. Mind numbing action sequences that look like choreographed performances shot and executed with flawless precision. Don't expect a review for this one. It doesn't need any. Just watch it.

Sometimes a movie is made beyond the realm of entertaining the audience,. Firaaq is one of those. It makes you think, question things that you know and moves you in a way which you'd not expect.

A movie which has inspired me to start writing again and start recommending more and more movies on my Surreal Nirvana blog. Make sure you keep checking because a post on this movie is definitely on its way.

I Am Sam 2001,  PG-13)
I Am Sam
I simply loved this movie. The only drawback is that it's a long movie but the story, the way the movie has been directed the actors, the performance, the delivery is all top grade.

I'm still so awed by the movie right now that its difficult for me to hunt the exact words to describe the effect this movie can have on its audience. Do not miss this movie if you haven't seen it already. Watch it NOW.

An interesting value proposition for all the viewers in India. The original DVD of this movie is available for just Rs 99 (about 2 US Dollars) and it comes loaded with directors commentary & making of the movie.

Raajneeti 2010,  Unrated)
Raajneeti
Prakash Jha is the king of stories and he proves his mettle with this movie. The exuberance of hard work put in by every cast & crew member is palpable. It's a heavy movie (owing to the subject, plot & sheer number of characters) and not a popcorn entertainer. Ranbir Kapoor takes the cake, deserves a special mention and would be lauded with compliments, more matured roles and (hopefully) with awards.

X-Men Origins - Wolverine
A nice movie which Hugh Jackman handles solely on his shoulders. I doubt if anybody can portray and do justice to Wolverine the way Hugh does.

The Dark Knight 2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
This one is unbelievable. Heath Ledger is so phenomenal with his act as the Joker. But even besides that, the action and the way other characters have acted is tremendous. You'd surely not want to miss this one. Watch it even if you don't like Batman, because this can very well be treated as a general action movie and still entertain you like no other.

The Karate Kid 2010,  PG)
The Karate Kid
Well, I'm a loyalist when we talk about 'The Karate Kid' series. Frankly, this movie is a complete reboot form the original series and there is no reason to complain.

Jaden Smith is phenomenal and so is Jackie Chan. I particularly enjoyed this movie and can watch it over and over again.

The Social Network 2010,  PG-13)
The Social Network
This is not your regular movie. Its a great entertainer shot in format of a thriller suspense novel, where right from the start, you can't wait to know what happens next, but I'd rather look at this movie as a case study and would recommend it to every student of management, and entrepreneur on what things to avoid and how to create a business venture which can soar as high as your imagination. MUST WATCH!
