Marvel's The Avengers 2012,  PG-13)
Marvel's The Avengers
A fun, well-written and well-acted movie! There was a danger that it the movie would end up like a shallow intersection of flat characters (like a Valentine's Day or New Year's Eve for superheroes) but not on Joss Wheadon's watch. Joss Wheadon has grown as a storyteller since his Buffy days, and since he was great back then, he's even more amazing now. The talented actors bring a rich depth to their iconic characters. I was worried that Scarlett Johansson would be the weak link of the movie, but even she was great (I shouldn't have even worried, Joss Wheadon knows how to handle is strong woman warriors).

Marvel's Avengers is so much fun to watch and quote with your friends! Best line of the movie? "He's adopted." So. Awesome.

Serenity 2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
One of the best movies ever! I have no complaints. And I'm not biased because I watched Firefly after seeing this movie. The story is awesome (Joss Whedon is a freaking genius, no surprise) the characters are so likable and the special effects are terrific! I can't believe Nathan Fillion isn't super duper famous. Seriously, he kicks all sorts of ass. So beyond wonderful!

Good Will Hunting 1997,  R)
Good Will Hunting
My favorite movie of all time. Matt Damon is awesome and he even wrote the screenplay (and I suppose Ben Affleck might have helped). This movie is funny, sad and inspirational. Did I mention that Matt Damon was awesome?
4
Dogma 1999,  R)
Dogma
My favorite Kevin Smith movie. He's a genius! The story is wonderful and the acting is excellent. I'm sad for the people who thought it was horrible and Catholic-bashing because they're missing the point. Who's house? Run's house. Who's house? Run's house! Say what?
5
The Royal Tenenbaums 2002,  R)
The Royal Tenenbaums
One of my favorite movies. It's so well-written and acted. Lots of people don't like it because it's stylized, but I love it.
6
Clerks II 2006,  R)
Clerks II
A lot of people say that Kevin Smith shouldn't have made this movie but I totally disagree. This might be blasphemy, but I liked it better than the original. There's a plot and the acting is great! This movie wonderfully displays how much Kevin Smith evolved and grew as a filmmaker in ten years. But what do I know? There's inter-species erotica and a debate whether it's okay to go ass to mouth.
7
Spider-Man 2 2004,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 2
This is the best Spidey movie out of the three (and I hope they don't make any more but I'm sure they will). The story progresses believably and Alfred Molina plays a superb villain. He has depth and therefore we feel for his character. Very, very good.
8
Waitress 2007,  PG-13)
Waitress
Excellent on so many levels. Kerri Russell proves she's matured beyond her Felicity years with her superb acting. And Nathan Fillion is adorable as usual. The story is deceptively simple and it's a tragedy this movie as Adrienne Shelly's swan song.
9
Little Miss Sunshine 2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
I can't rave enough about this movie. The story is deceptively simple and the acting is superb. My favorite interactions were between Greg Kinnear and Steve Carrell. But everyone was good and the ending kicked ass.
10
Ocean's Eleven 2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
This is an awesome, slick movie with great acting and a fun story. George Clooney knows he's smooth and good-looking. Brad Pitt is adorably sexy. Actually, everyone kicks ass. Overall, a fun heist movie with Matt Damon? One word: Awesome.

Team America - World Police 2004,  R)
Team America - World Police
A freaking witty, right on the money movie. It's so funny and any flick with a song called "Pearl Harbor Sucked, and I Miss You" has to rock. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are brilliant even if they make fun of Maaat Damon. What's with that? Is it because "Ben Affleck" didn't sound right. Still, very awesome.
12
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This is my favorite Harry Potter movie (and book). The story is so good and Gary Oldman is fantastic. Actually, everyone is impressively awesome. Alfonso Cuaron is a great director.
13
Rent 2005,  PG-13)
Rent
I loved the play and enjoyed the movie very much. Rosario Dawson was a freaking awesome addition to the amazing cast. The songs are fun and catchy and it's nice to be able to watch the DVD any time I feel like singing and dancing along to "Out Tonight." Ow-oooh!
14
Stuck On You 2003,  PG-13)
Stuck On You
People totally diss this movie without even seeing it and that makes me angry. This is a sweet, well-made movie that displays how awesome Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear are. This is a comedy with heart and I can watch it over and over again. One of the Farrelly brother's best movies.
15
Forgetting Sarah Marshall 2008,  R)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
So much better than I thought it was gonna be! Knocked Up was good, but it tended to drag and some parts were so depressing. And Superbad was also good for what it was. They both couldn't compare to the 40 Year Old Virgin because they didn't have heart. What makes Forgetting Sarah Marshall so good is that it's raunchy, funny and smart. None of the characters are despicable or two dimensional. What makes this movie stand out for me is that part of it takes place in Hawaii (but I think it was mostly filmed in Fiji or something) and you can tell the person who wrote it (Jason Segel) has actually been here. There are a ton of jokes poking fun at both locals, mainlanders. It's definitely more realistic than North Shore or Blue Crush. They actually got local actors who can act well enough so as not to induce cringes when speaking pidgin. Also, this movie gets another star for making fun of musicals, puppets and theater in general. Brilliant.

Stranger Than Fiction 2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
One of my favorite movies! The story is kooky, the acting is fantastic and the ending does not disappoint. Will Ferrell gives his best performance (this character ranks up there with Mugatu) and he actually makes a good match with Maggie Gyllenhaal who is so wonderful. Dustin Hoffman was also hilarious. Good movie. Really good.
