I would recommend this movie to anyone. Its a British film and it is extremely funny. I watched this while on the phone with my good friend, and throughout it we were both laughing. Its funny, its creative, and gives you a little look at various different relationships as they progress.
I love Sean Bean and I think he does and amazing job no matter what movie he is in or what role he is playing. While I love the movie and think it is one of the best horror movies out there it is not as good as the orginal. The orginal the fixation was not on Grace it was on Jim, and in this version John Ryder seems to have an almost comical obssession with Grace, one that not even he seems to be buying into. The character of Grace was not appealing in this movie especially in the last few scenes, I had been wishing for her to trade places with Jim. Neal McDonough is amazing as the Sheriff giving an overall amazing cast for the movie. While the orginal was more subtle in its use of gore (Not really showing any) this movie shows it happily in abundance, which will make most gore fans enthusiastic to see it, however it tends to take away from the true chill that the orginal sent down your spine. Regardless of its minor short comings, I thought that this was one of the better remakes I had seen in a very long time.
Possibly the best fight scenes I have seen in a movie in a very long time. The story is decent enough, but its those fight scenes that draw you in and hold your attention.
I like horror movies, and figured this one was gonna be as cheezy as they come. I was very surprised that it was infact well thought out and had a twist that surprised even me. The acting is not terrible for a horror movie (Which it usually is in most), its not great acting either but the story draws you in enough that you forget about the acting. There is some decent special effects in the movie, but for the most part it is the story that leads you and keeps your attention.
I figured it was not gonna be as good as the first one but it was really good. Erica Leerhsen and Henry Rollins where very good in it. The story was interesting and as a horror movie its blood and gore was decent.
The movie is about a pop singer who decides to pursue an acting career. A psychological thriller errupts as people around the young star begin to die leaving her wondering if she is going crazy, if she is responsible, and whether or not it was a mistake for her to give up singing. This movie is not for kids. While it is an animated movie there is some nudity and adult themes in it but they certainly do not overpower the story of the movie. It was really good.
This movie is actually a french movie called Le Pacte des Loups. The movie takes place in 18th century France, when the Chevalier and his Native American friend are sent to a province by the King to investigate various killings. The replication of 18th century France is amazing, from the costumes to the way they talk. The cast is amazing, the action in the movie is good, and the story is excellent. I really like this movie and like watching it even more in French with no English subtitles. ^_^
I love this movie. Its one of those movies that you enjoy more and more each time you see it. Lance Henriksen's performance as Torquemada gives me chills; Repression, Power, and so much more all wrapped up in one character and the performance by an actor who is truly a credit in any film he does. I dislike the fact that people often refer to this as a remake. First let me say that Vincent Price is in a class by himself and the version of Pit and the Pendulum that he was in was amazing. However other then the title and one scene toward the end of the movie where some unlucky fellow tries to get free of the Pendulum before it slices him in two, is where the similarities end. It is set back in Spain during 1492, the (real) inquisition. Lance Henriksen, stars as Torquemada. With the assistance of his underlings, he wants to rid the world of witchcraft and heresy, figuring the best way to do this is to torture and kill what seems like 99% of the population (historically, he was said to be responsible of over 100,000 executions). During one ugly public display involving Gordon's wife Carolyn Purdy-Gordon a young baker Antonio and his wife Maria make the mistake of trying to intervene, so they assume she's a witch and toss her in the dungeon. Maria's husband tries to save her and of course is immediately arrested as well. Unfortunately for Maria, Torquemada, who is a monk, is horrified to find himself secretly attracted to her and doesn't know how to deal with it. At first it seems like Maria might be able to use this to her advantage, but since Torquemada is so psychotically religious that he thinks any human emotions are the work of Satan, things just get more complicated and intense from there. There are several very clever references to Poe's works, that are not just tossed in there, they actually fit in very nicely with the story. The cast is amazing and I will refrain from speaking on them because this would get really long if I did. ^_^ This is definately not a movie for kids, or adults who are extremely sensitive because most likely you will be horrified or offended in some fashion. The atmosphere and the settings are impressive. The ancient castle and the torture chambers are really intriguing. The costumes are terrific as well. There isn't too much gore and violence to detect in this movie but they're are a few very explicit scenes that show true horror. But it's always shot with a lot of style and class. Those explicit scenes are the torture and executions and they can be a little intense for those who might be sensitive, as I stated previously. Overall this is by far one of my all time favorite movies.
