King Kong 2005,  PG-13)
King Kong
This was a very touching movie, and Naomi Watts executed the part perfectly. I love this unconventional love story between a gorilla and a woman. The special effects were amazing and I applaud Peter Jackson for yet another outstanding movie.
3
The Painted Veil 2006,  PG-13)
The Painted Veil
I just happened upon this movie that was on TV. Naomi watts and Edward Norton had a great and romantic screen chemistry and the setting was authentic because it was filmed in China. I respect the fact that there were actually true Chinese people speaking rather than American people attempting to appear as though they were actually native Chinese. The movie manages to blend the romanticism with the reality of cholera in 1920s China. The soundtrack with Lang Lang, Chinese pianist, is stunningly beautiful and makes for an authentic movie with authentic sounds.

The Host (Gwoemul) 2006,  R)
The Host (Gwoemul)
The highest grossing movie in Korean history, and it even beat the King and the Clown. May seem like a monster movie at first, but the heart of the movie is at family.
5
The King and the Clown 2005,  Unrated)
The King and the Clown
Brilliant masterpiece. Unfortunately outdone by the Host only a year later of attaining highest grossing Korean movie. Lee Jun Ki is so effective at portraying a woman, and the costumes are beautiful.

Minyeo-neun goerowo (200 Pounds Beauty)
So funny! I like the touching story that all us fat girls can learn from! The songs are really addicting too.

Kim Ha Neul and Kwon Sang Woo are absolutely funny in this movie! A light hearted show that'll make you laugh (and swoon).

Yeolliji (Now and Forever)
Heartwarming movie. Choi Ji Woo is fantastic (though I'm biased since she's my number 2!). She fits perfectly in this tragic role.
10
Pretty Woman 1990,  R)
Pretty Woman
This is such a classic movie, which propelled Julia Roberts to stardom! I love this movie, and I love that the Korean drama "Lovers in Paris" is based on this movie! The scenes with the necklace is exactly the same in both productions. "This necklace is only on loan." Classic
11
Rush Hour 1998,  PG-13)
Rush Hour
The funniest thing you'll ever see! Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are so unbelievably cool, and their action scenes are very nice.

Gajokeui tansaeng (Family Ties) 2006,  Unrated)
Gajokeui tansaeng (Family Ties)
I initially only wanted to watch this movie because of Gong Hyo Jin. The three stories are initially irrelevant, but as the story unraveled, I constantly had to pause in order to think about the "Family Ties." The stories were brilliantly wound together and though I was confused at first, I finally understood the time shift. Overall, a satisfying movie, especially with Gong Hyo Jin's performance as well as the other actresses' performances. Congratulations on the heroines winning the Grand Bell Award in Greece!

Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) 2003,  R)
Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters)
Probably the most famous horror movie in Korea. Im Soo Jung is amazing, but the plot is a little hard to understand at first. It might take you a couple of times watching or an explanation online to understand the complexity of the plot!

I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (Saibogujiman kwenchana)
I was so excited to watch this movie because Rain is so unbelievably hot. Yet I was overwhelmingly disappointed by the movie. Sure the cast was great and the set was odd and beautiful, but the plot was .....
