Goodfellas i think is a excellent gangster film which is based off the life of Henry Hill so by knowing this you know what you watching will be bloody good.
Ray Liotta plays Henry in his movie and he plays a good part but i think he could have played the part a bit less seriously as he was to serious so it doesnt really show his promise like a actor. Robert De Niro comes in as he plays a good friend of Henry who helps him in his childhood and up in the ranks in the movie but his character starts to go mad and wants people who helped him dead. However i think the best character of the Movie goes to Joe Pesci as the childhood friend of Henry as he cant control his temper and makes you laugh and seem scared at the same time. This point is proveed in the famous " funny how " scene. I thought it was a shame for him to be killed in the movie.
The Director Martin Scoreses did a excellent good job as he worked with two actor he used before De Niro and Pesci what i also liked about how i directed this movie was he showed the present first then he went back into the past as they wrre children then returned to the present and then he moved into the future. i liked it when the movie ended as you learn about what happened to the main characters in real life.
overall i would reccomend this movie to anyone who enjoyed Gangster movies
Casino is possibly one of the better films of the 1990's as it is based on true events but altered for the film to make it more dramatic and gripping.
The Main character Ace who is played by Robert De Niro is a man who can neveer lose a bet as we learn in the movie as he can win and helps the bosses who secretly run vegas money and a lot of it, apart from that we learn that he falls in love with Ginger played by Sharon Stone but she doesnt love him. I like Ace as you see him reach the high and lows in Las Vegas. However i think that Ace's long time friend Nicky who is played by Joe Pesci is the main star of the show as we see him rise from a low level gangster to a person who is like Al Capone as the character is banned from Vegas and all it's casino's, but i like him as he is a caring father and he always makes breakfast each morning.
i think were the desert scene between Ace and Nicky(where even Ace said his chance were living were 50 50 instead of 99 out of 100 as it shows what Vegas can do to friends who have different opinoins.) is one of the better scenes in the movie
Martin Scorsese directed this movie and he did it like how he directed Goodfellas as he started off with the end but showed how it came to be like that in the restof the movie then at the end you see the start again and what happens nex. Scorsese 2worked with De Niro and Pesci for the 3rd time 4 this movie and it shows that they can make a good movie.
overall i consider Casino to be one of the better gangster films of the 1990's as there is a few storylines that in the end tie each other up nicely into 1 storyline at the end
The 1 thing i didn't like in the movie is that Ginger's old boyfriend played by James woods does not get enough screen time as i liked how the character was always going to Ginger to help and she would always do it even tho he got beaten up for it. I thought he should have been in it a bit longer
I thought that Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead Is one of the best movies i have seen this year. I enjoyed it because of the great characters and it gets you to watch a good crime type movie not directed by Scorsese or Tarantino.
The Main Character Jimmy the Saint who was played by Andy Garcia was a intresting character to watch, as he got out of the crime business and decided to come clean by starting a business so that he could buy a boat. Is brought back into the business 1 last time. The character was intresting to watch as during and after the job he falls in love with a woman and tries to help his friends along the way even when they r being killed 1 by 1.
However I think the best character goes to 3 people Treat Williams who plays a convincing part as Critical Bill the daft but crazy one who cant control his temper. Willams seems to really fit the part of the character and does it well, Christopher Walker as the Man With A Plan the crazy but paralysed villain who forces the saint to do the last job. The main suprise was Steve Buschemi who played the slient hitman Mr Shhh he was truly brillant as it showed that he can be a good lead actor not a supporting one he has known to be.
The plot of the story was a intresting 1 as you never see the main characters getting killed off so early in the film unless it is a horror movie. It could have been improved but overall it was very good and for me the ending was very good as the Gang meet up on a boat
Overall i enjoyed this and would reccomend it to anyone who liked the crime type of movie but it is not as good as the Godfather
Twins is a bloody good Comedy that i personally enjoyed from the beginning to the endas it has really funny moments in it as you really wouldnt expect it to be funny as the main characters are more of the serious kind not the funny kind
the main characters of Arnold and Danny as Arnold hasn't any real experience of being a comedic actor but he does in a way he pulls this off is mainly at the fight scenes as he always goes on about the rules of fighting.
Danny DeVito on the other hand plays the twin who wasnt suppose to be as we learn later on but he plays the comedic con man who will do anything for a quick buck.
There is a love interest for the main characters and they happen to be sisters who loves the characters the way they are.
this review is short but i am new to writing them so give me time to improve
I consier The quiet Man to be one of the best movies of the 20th century, As it show the up's and down's of a retired Boxer returning home to his native Ireland it also shows one of the greatest fight scenes ever produced in the history of the cinema.
The cast in the Movie i thought was weird this was because i couldn't The Duke play a part in a romantic movie like this as he is associated with western or war films. However his performance in this was brilliant as it showed what a good actor he is , with some top notch performances by Maureen O Hara who shows how hard life was like for women in the time period and plays the love intrest of the main character. While Victor McLagen who puts in a splendid performance as he plays the main Villain of the movie which shows that the main crew was excellent and the three of them would star in more movies together.
I think John Ford did a good job directing the movie even tho he is associated with directing war films and western alongside John Wayne but can show that he can direct other types of geners by directing this movie as he keeps the viewer gripped in to watch the movie.
overall The quiet Man is a excellent Film as it shows what a Man will do to be with the woman he loves and following the trials and customs of his homeland Ireland
I think that Rambo 4 was a better film when it came to action and violence but i think that when it came to the storyline it wasnt as good as the first one of the series.
Slylvester Stallone returns to his role of John Rambo nearly two decades after the last one, because of this it gives me mixed feelings about the character as for a start i thought he was too old to be doing the fighting and action scenes. However he pulls it off, and shows that he can do action films while he is older. Sly did the movie after the Latest Rocky movie yet again people were questionning his age to be playing a part which should be for someone younger.
The action in the movie to many is that it is over the top and has to much gore in it , in some respects i agree with this as you see the main bad guy get gutted at the end before that you see sly kill many people and u see their heads get blown off and stuff but it was done well this movie was also directed by Stallone show it could hint that he could move into directing when he does decide to stop acting.
The storyline i thought was typical for a movie of the genre when the hero comes out of retirement to save a few people. however the storyline i thought was one of the better ones in the series as with rambo 1 being being the best storyline yet
Overall i thought it was a good movie to watch as it had a lot of action, but i thought if it was made a decade sooner it would have been better as Stallone would have been younger and less people wouldnt have asked if he was too old to play the part but he silenced his critics wrong with this good performance
Rocky III in my view is prehaps one of the better movies of the series this is because of the main storyline and the happiness and sorrow the film brings to the audience.
The film sees Slyvester Stallone as rocky as we see the sucess he has had after beating Apollo creed in the second movie however in this movie he see a softer side to him as tragedy strikes twice as he loses his trainer Mickey and the world title. Mr T steals the show as Clubber Lang the main bad guy in the movie which i thought suited him well as he looked the part this movie helped him become the icon he is today. Carl Weathers returns as Apollo Creed who helps and trains Rocky after the tragedy strikes him.
Sly directed the film and he did it well as he showed what happens to the boxers when they get soft and when they lose what they earned, and how they psychologically cope with it. Which i thought weas impressive
so overall i enjoyed the rocky film as it has everything in it honour and pride lovwe and loss and death which you wouldnt expect in a boxing movie
