The Last Waltz
Almost all of these stars are for the live footage. The interview parts contain a few gems, but for the most part aren't very enlightening.
3

Festival Express
The greatest 70's festival movie you've never seen.

South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut
More brilliant than "The Great Dictator" and more insightful than Babel. This film makes it clear why we can't all just get along.
10
Dark Passage 1947,  Unrated)
11
Raising Arizona 1987,  PG-13)
Raising Arizona
"Better hurry up . . . I'm in dutch with the wife."
12
Boogie Nights 1997,  R)
Boogie Nights
Ever get the feeling that you'd like to be anywhere but where you are at that moment. Walburg does a great job of portraying this emotion right before his druggie friend opens fire on the place. Oh, and the "is what it is" comment from the editor to Burt Reynolds is a great line.
13
Fargo 1996,  R)
14
Rushmore 1998,  R)
15
Hustle & Flow 2004,  R)
16
The Man with the Golden Arm 1955,  Unrated)
The Man with the Golden Arm
The chairman as a junkie drummer. Classic!
17
Gates of Heaven 1978,  Unrated)
Gates of Heaven
This is one of the greatest portrayals of ineptitude and crippling lack of self-awareness that I have ever seen.
18
The Fog of War - Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara 2003,  PG-13)
The Fog of War - Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara
One of the most troubling movies I have ever seen. McNamara's cold rationalizations of his dreadful acts are chilling.
19
Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter, Jr. 1999,  PG-13)
20
Wall Street 1987,  R)
Wall Street
Of all of the Stone flix, this might be the best. The scene with Charlie and Martin in the elevator is incredible.
21
Lost and Delirious 2001,  R)
Lost and Delirious
This is an incredible film about love in general, particularly that aspect of it where although you may love each other, circumstances are getting in the way.
22
Lianna 1983,  R)
Lianna
Underrated Sayles flick that was way ahead of its time. The complex portrayal of the lead character and her relationships should be getting Sayles more credit.
23
Lone Star 1996,  R)
Lone Star
I dig this movie more every time I see it.
24
The Long Goodbye 1973,  R)
The Long Goodbye
This movie is amazing. From the fish out of water performance of Gould to the marvalous direction from Altman.
25
Bad Lieutenant 1992,  NC-17)
Bad Lieutenant
Abel Ferrara at his very best. On top of that, this is probably the greatest problem gambling film ever!
26
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
