Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
A perfect romance. Funny and sweet and passionate. Always something new to notice and work out. Brilliant visuals - love the scenes where Joel's memories are disintergrating and everything is mixed up. A bed on the frozen beach: gorgeous!

The History Boys
'Pass it on'. Any film that contains the line 'History: it's just one fuckin' thing after another' has to get five stars. But this film goes beyond just that idea with a discussion of the nature of eduation and the value of knowledge which is quietly thought provoking whilst having a central thread of warm hearted humanity.

I Capture the Castle 2003,  R)
I Capture the Castle
Brilliant adaption of a briiliant book. Some have objected to the flashbacks at the end, but I personally think it is a good way of seeing Cassandra's journey. Very British and very kooky, I want to be in this film!

Jude 1996,  R)
Jude
Beautiful adaption, although a really difficult book to adapt. Christopher Eccleston is perfect, but Kate Winslet is wrong as Sue.

Howards End 1992,  PG)

Rebecca 1940,  Unrated)
Rebecca
Chilling and magic, love the book and this adaption. Olivier is charming, tortured and cold all at once.

Breakfast at Tiffany's
A kiss isn't a kiss unless it's in the rain looking for a cat. I love Holly's vunerability and dizziness, really clever the way Hepburn creates a character that has to protect herself, keep herself locked away, whilst apparently revealing everthing.
