Arsenic and Old Lace
If you appreciate good slapstick with a charming family quality and an amusing yet shocking pair of murdering old ladies, you'll totally love this movie.
2
Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) 2001,  R)
Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
This is by far the most impressive movie I've ever seen. I know some people really dislike artsy movies like this one, but it managed to keep the creative genious subtle and not overbearing to the plot line. Not only does this movie make you feel like moving to France, it puts you in a position to say even if my life sucks, I can watch this movie and feel pretty damn good for a full 2 to 5 hours afterwards.

Garden State 2004,  R)
Garden State
I thought this movie was so well written and so well cast and the acting is so great and the soundtrack is the best I've ever heard I thought it should have been nominated for at least one of those things.

The Third Man 1949,  Unrated)
The Third Man
SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! Woah... I can't change my favorite movie of all time since it has been the same since elementary school, but this one would be it if I could. So the music is perfect... Orson Welles has the coolest voice... man... this movie totally rocked my socks off... the shadows... the cat... the sewer. Gah! It's so perfect!!! All of it!! I loved every single aspect of this movie. It had fast paced dialogue and creative camera angles and even the little kid was adorabe. I'm gonna have to give credit to Ryan for this one as well... but it really deserves the placement on top 100 movies of all time... number 1 if you ask me.

This one is just ridiculous... but if you saw the scenes individualy and didn't bother with the absurd storyline, you'd probably think it was pretty darn clever.

This movie quickly climbed my list of favorites. Not only is Steve McQueen PHENOMENAL in it, the entire plot encompasses every single movie genre you can imagine. You have eating bugs, slitting throats, aligators, topless women, leppers, drugs, near death experiences, sharks, coconuts... seriously I was shocked there weren't aliens... this movie kicked so much ass I can not even believe it wasn't on the AFI top 100...

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 2004,  R)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
There's a reason there's nothing informational on the box or disc of this movie. You really have to discover it yourself in order to fully enjoy it, so check it out if you want, if you don't want to... makes no difference to me. I don't want to alter your opinion of it in any way.

Good Bye, Lenin 2002,  R)
Good Bye, Lenin
A really sweet story taking place during the decline of socialism in Germany. A young man's mother, a socialist political figure who reviews clothing, has a heart attack and goes into an 8 month coma. During this time, the Berlin Wall is torn down and East and West Germany become united, changing daily lifestyles of once socialist households. When she awakes, doctors inform her son that any shock may cause her to die so he is forced to keep her from knowing the truth about her country. The story is humorously portrayed and beautifully executed with the help of Yann Tiersen's signature music. The acting was wonderful all the way around, including an adorable toddler, and the message was one that will warm your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film, and I will the next few times I see it as well.

Mrs. Miniver 1942,  Unrated)
Mrs. Miniver
This was the sweetest movie I've seen in a long time. I'm not usually one for mushy war stories but this was so uplifting (although tragic) it's just one of those movies that makes you realize how no matter how horrible things might become, you can find the best in everything. I really hope if I'm ever lucky enough to start my own family, I will have the strength and humor shown in this one.

Chelovek s kino-apparatom (Man with a Movie Camera) 1929,  Unrated)
Chelovek s kino-apparatom (Man with a Movie Camera)
Really amazing film. It seemed really ahead of its time, especially musically. I feel like this movie proves my theory of needing to know how to take good pictures in order to make a good movie. This was basically one of the first experimental, independent, documentaries that actually shows great camera tricks and how to produce them. Not only were some of the images shocking, but also breath taking and awe-inspiring. I found this film to be really well done seeing as there was no plot and no real actors and yet it captivated me and had me smiling, laughing, and wanting to see more. Really awesome!
