I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend.
Tale of forbidden love in Victorian England. Nan has a marraige "arranged" to an outwardly fine gentleman-of-society, but her world falls into turmoil when she meets and falls in love with the very sexy Kitty.
Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more. Men were deceivers ever. One foot in sea and one on shore, to one thing constant never. Then sigh not so but let them go and be you blithe and bonny, converting all your sounds of woe into hey nonny nonny.
A fun, romantic lesbian comedy about three sisters who find out that their mother is gay and try to get her away from her Czech pianist girlfriend. It has everything a lesbian could need. Exotic accents, references to Sappho, Comedy highs and dramatic lows. Great movie
Jury room drama that makes a striking point about one of the most important aspects of law: Reasonable doubt. It's also quite disturbing in the way that it exposes the small minded attitudes of an uncaring society, although these are overcome by a more noble ideal in the end: Humantiarian belief in Justice
30 something Bridget Jones (Renee Zelwegger) is bored, overweight and lonely. She drinks too much, smokes too much and has a rotten choice in men. One New Year, she decides to keep a diary in which she is going to tell only the truth. Her lounge lizard boss (Hugh Grant) seems determined to use and abuse her, and the only man she is truly attracted to seems immune to her charms. A very funny movie, made all the funnier by Bridgets dipstick friends and dragon of a mother.
A jolly ol' romp with the wonderful Johnny Depp hamming it up as Cap'n Jack again. Would never have recognised Bill Nighy in all that Davy Jones get up, but it was brilliantly done. Loved it.
Little red riding hood for grown ups. Good effects and a first class performance from Angela Lansbury as Grandma. An adolescent girl finds out about love and life, and how men are not always how they seem. The wolf lives in every man.
