The Breakfast Club
John Hughes in best form; I was all 5 characters as 1 growing up. But I became molly ringwolds dad in the end - as I had the same car (BMW 528i - SAd!) profound, funny, moving and absolutel,y spot on portrayal of teen angst (mine anyway) never dates either as most of these flicks do.

Skin Deep 1989,  R)
Skin Deep
very possibly my fave movie. Great script and direction by blake edwards - John ritter, the alcoholic writer is everything at once: funny, shallow, mysogenistic, confused - basically I could relate too much! some classic scenes and clever all the way. Kill the guy who wrote the review in flixter...

Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai) 1954,  Unrated)
Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai)
awesome - original and best. got me onto japanese cinema

A Knight's Tale 2001,  PG-13)
A Knight's Tale
I'm sure I've reviewed this! one of my fave movies. not even sure why. Ledger for one obviously, Bettany as chaucer obviously, the father son thing is so touching and makes me cry everytime. hot chick, great romance and Rufus Sewell is as good a baddie as I've ever seen. Add the seamless contemporary soundtrack with the period piece action, a ripping yarn!

WALL-E 2008,  G)
WALL-E
wow, what a great flick. Humour, pathos and depth, all from a TWO DIMENSIONAL robot. it is the lack of script and the focus on characterisation that made it so special. I wept like a baby near the end, surprising myself with the power an animated flick can have and re-discovering this amazing medium yet again. Best film this year.

OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions (OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies) 2006,  Unrated)
OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions (OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies)
really funny. Very smart. Very French. Offbeat. And the rubber faced lead man Jean Dujardin was classic. Think Steve Martin out of 'dead men..' and Cary Grant on Acid meets Top secret and Spy Hard. As good as the best of them; Wildly funny at times. No obvious flaws and good supporting actors. Highly recommended one of my films of 2009. And who is Berenice Bejo? Wow.
