8	Boogie Nights 1997, R) A total masterpiece, full of symbolism, masterfully filmed, with beautiful shot sequence, an incredible mix of characteristics of the films of Martin Scorsese and Robert Altman. This is the second film P.T. Anderson, who will certainly become one of the greatest directors of the planet. And he gave a message for critics in this movie: "To all the critics out there. I know they're going to be reviewing this and I know they're going to try to knock me. I just want them to know. Is it ok if I say this into the camera?. .. I am only who I am because I was born that way ".
9	Eraserhead 1977, R) O meu filme preferido de Lynch, e também um dos meus favoritos "weird films" de todos os tempos. O filme todo pra mim, é um delírio/devaneio da própria morte, com pertubações causadas pelo sub-consciente. Henry, é um cidadão solitário, que engravida a namorada por descuido, e é obrigado a casar com ela, porém a mulher o abandona com o filho, e ele é obrigado a ter a responsabilidade (essa é a palavra chave do filme) de criar a criança. Porém tudo vai dando errado, a criança aumenta seu estresse e chega até a atrapalhar o seu relacionamento com outras mulheres. E então, ele não aguentando mais, mata o bebê. E é condenado a cadeira eletrica (O que explica o cara com uma alavanca e as luzes acendendo e apagando o tempo todo). O bebê na verdade não era um monstro, assim como o cara que executou ele na cadeira elétrica, no seu devaneio de morte, ele transformou o bebê e o cara em monstro para amenizar sua culpa. Daí vem o título do filme: Eraserhead, por ele querer apagar toda a situação e escrever uma história nova. Outra coisa também interessante é o seu cabelo em pé, que uma referência de como fica o cabelo quando se toma um "choque".

13	There Will Be Blood 2007, R) Ladies and gentlemen, I think that if Stanley Kubrick were alive, surely this would be your favorite movie of the last 10 years. I am very happy to exist in my generation filmmakers such as PTA. Definitely the best decade of the 00's. Behold the art, behold the show, it's oil in camera, it's "DRAIIIIINEGE, Drainege, Eli, you boy. Drained dry. I'm so sorry", it's a perfect soundtrack by Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) . This is filmmaking at the highest level.
14	The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 1948, Unrated) And Huston make your masterpiece, fantastic on all counts. The gold, greed, guns, the mountain, indians, the sandbags and guile. Fuckin' classic!
15	Punch-Drunk Love 2002, R) Definitely P.T. Anderson is for me, the best of the new crop of directors. This movie is the best romantic comedy of the decade. The car accident at the beginning of the film is a clear symbolism of the lawless life of Barry. In a given in 'movie connections' from imdb, I confirmed the influences that had already thinking: Taxi Driver, The Graduate, Godard, Kubrick, Truffaut and others.
16	Once Upon a Time in America 1984, R) I just have two things to say about the last movie by Sergio Fucking Leone: A cinematic masterpiece. And thanks for everything, master.

Anderson bebeu um pouco desse filme pra fazer Sangue Negro. Belo filme, com uma grande atmosfera emoldurada pela melancólica música de Leonard Cohen.
22	The Night of the Hunter 1955, PG) Masterpiece, it is a film without precedents, pioneer, and without any real equals. Harry Powell is one of the best psychos I've ever seen, It's a hound from hell. One of the best thrillers and film noir, with a wonderful photograpy.

24	Play It Again, Sam 1972, PG) O melhor filme de Woody Allen não dirigido por Woody Allen. Um roteiro extremamente engraçado, com cenas e diálogos inesquecíveis. Grande comédia.
25	Sullivan's Travels 1941, Unrated) Grande Screwball Comedy! Uma obra-prima da velha Hollywood. Um dos meus favoritos da década de 40. Tem de tudo aqui: Veronica Lake perfeita, ação, preocupações sociais, comédia pastelão, e até musical. Aquele diálogo rápido pra caralho e sem cortes nos 5 minutos iniciais é incrível, acho que é o diálogo mais rápido que já vi. E é obviamente um dos filmes que mais influenciam os irmãos coen. Isso fica bem visível em Barton Fink, e claro, no próprio "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" em que eles tiraram o título do filme daqui de Sullivan's Travels.

41	Barry Lyndon 1975, PG) A impressão que tenho é de que estou vendo uma pintura na tela a cada segudo desse filme. É cinema da mais alta qualidade. Kubrick mandou comprar trajes costurados 200 anos atrás para os atores, conseguiu uma lente especial de 50mm feita para a NASA para assim poder filmar cenas apenas com a luz de velas, além dos enquadramentos precisos, a puta trilha sonora, a atmosfera e o feeling do século XVIII, a oscarizada fotografia de John Alcott, o uso abundante e magistral do efeito de zoom lento, e o duelo final digno de um western...só me fazem dizer mais duas palavras: Ópera visual.

Ok, depois da primeira metade até começar a música da Nancy Sinatra o filme cai um pouco, mas foda-se! Nada apaga a parte do Sergeant Hartman e os diálogos impagáveis: - Você é tão feio que parece a porra de uma obra-prima de arte moderna! - Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?
44	The Shining 1980, R) Nas palavras de Jay Weidner: "A maior obra-prima desconhecida". Assim como 2001, eu poderia escrever umas 20 páginas só sobre os significados desse filme, mas em suma, pouca gente sabe que esse filme é sobre como Kurbrick fez um acordo com o governo dos EUA e a NASA para falsificar o pouso na lua, na missão Apollo 11. E com isso teve que manter segredo absoluto e ganhou um orçamento ilimitado para fazer 2001. Existem centenas de pistas e simbolismos para isso dentro do filme, o personagem Jack Torrence não é parecido visualmente com Kubrick à-toa. Ele é o próprio Kubrick, e na cena que ele escreve a famosa frase: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". All = A11. A11 = Apollo 11. Ou seja: "O trabalho A11 sem diversão faz de Jack (Kubrick) um menino maçante."

46	The Killing 1956, Unrated) Eis aqui o filme noir de Kubrick. E eu, como fã apaixonado do gênero, não poderia deixar de não gostar. Quando chegou na parte final do filme, percebi rapidamente a influência dele sobre Tarantino para fazer uma de suas obras-primas, Reservoir Dogs, e também sobre Sidney Lumet, em seu o recente Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Enfim, Kubrick faz aqui um grande filme sobre a obsessão humana. E de quebra, a cena final ainda me lembrou claramente um dos meus filmes favoritos de todos os tempos: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.

A cena do De Niro com os cartazes, com certeza é uma das que mais me fizeram rir nos filmes do mestre da câmera e dos gangsters movies.

The movie has more than three hours, but it appears that only has two hours. It is a film class. Wonderful cast. Paul Thomas Anderson drink this movie to make his masterpiece: Magnolia.

94	The Player 1992, R) Watch Robert Altman to play with its own cinema. A true lesson in irony criticism on the films with "happy ending". And enjoy the plan-sequence 8 minutes of the beginning of the film.
95	American Graffiti 1973, PG) And I wonder, I wo-wo-wo-wo-wonder... George Lucas fez American Graffiti antes de começar com aquela "Mickey Mouse bullshit". E para mim esse é, até hoje, o seu melhor filme. Possui uma das minhas trilhas sonoras favoritas. É divertido, bem filmado, e com atmosfera agradável. Puramente despretensioso, mesmerizante e nostálgico.

Com cortes rápidos e ritmados, Meyer nos da um grande espetáculo visual e um dos melhores "exploitation films / softcore" já feitos. SICK! No fairy tale... this!

Esse filme perdeu a palma de ouro em 2000 pra Dancer in the Dark, mas merecidamente Edward Yang ganhou levou o prêmio de melhor diretor daquele ano. E é uma pena que um diretor que faz um filme tão puro quanto esse, morrer tão cedo, grande perda.

222	A Serious Man 2009, R) Embrace the mystery, the Coens tell us. "Please, accept the mystery" said the china guy. This film is one of the best of 2009. It's complex. What matters here are not the answers, but the questions. The reason why everything went wrong for Larry, I concluded it is trying to make sense of life is a foolish endeavor doomed to failure. In the words of the prophet Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplain), when the truth is found to be lies, all the joy within him dies. The ending absolutely perfect! with the tornado and the phone call scene, everything turns even darker than the rest of the movie and it helped me dealing with the message of the film, how random and bad life can be.

Além de tudo percebi também que os irmãos coen usaram algumas referências desse filme em The Big Lebowski.
