MY APPRAISAL

Gone With The Wind, without doubt and hesitation is the one of the best thing Hollywood had ever done of all time. It would be pointless and unworthy when a NOBODY like me, critisizing this MASTERPIECE. Gone With The Wind scored the best 3,5 hours of movie experience. I love every second in every scene since they are so beautiful to look at. The writing, score, and actings are excellent. I watched this masterpiece over and over again and it still has the power to amaze me. This is the kind of timeless movie that remains as a colossal. I'm not a classic junkie, but I'm very thankful for witnessing this kind of legend. Gone With The Wind is my pick of the best movie I've ever seen.

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"In the heartwarming film Big Fish, director Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Scissor hands) brings his inimitable imagination on a journey that delves deep into a fabled relationship between a father and his son.

Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) has always been a teller of tall-tales about his oversized life as a young man (Ewan McGregor), when his wanderlust led him on an unlikely journey from a small-town in Alabama, around the world, and back again. His mythic exploits dart from the delightful to the delirious as he weaves epic tales about giants, blizzards, a witch and conjoined-twin lounge singers. With his larger-than-life stories, Bloom charms almost everyone he encounters except for his estranged son Will (Billy Crudup). When his mother Sandra (Jessica Lange) tries to reunite them, Will must learn how to separate fact from fiction as he comes to terms with his father's great feats and great failings. "

MY APPRAISAL

MOST HEARTWARMING & EXQUISITE ESCAPADE.

Nothing is more astonishing than exquisite stories of incredible adventures. Well, we all heard them already. Tales about fairies, witches always delighted me since I was a little girl and I suspect that I'm not the only one.

The eccentric and also my all-time favourite director Tim Burton striked gold by visualizing captivating pictures and remarkably spelled magic for this Daniel Wallace's novel adaptation. And I was pleasantly surprised that Big Fish is as enchanting and cute as it appears so. With impressive images, brilliant performances, and a heart-warming ending that actually involves me sentimentally, I give a sincere applause for Burton for making me the kind of movie that I may not have appreciated in another director's hands.

The appeal of this Big Fish movie is the captivating journey of Edward Bloom and how Burton crafted a dreamlike world exactly like every kids' imagination. Ewan McGregor and Helena Bonham Carter both delivered outstanding performances.

At its core, this is a movie about enchantment and bond. Though it seems like a long film, but it is the depth of storytelling that makes it seem like that, and at the end I felt truly connected to the emotional heart of the story.

Big Fish is delightfully crafted and very refreshing. After the captivating Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton strikes another with this genuinely warm tale of an adventure as big as life itself.

BURTON'S MASTERPIECE, INDEED.

"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in."

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Lester Burnham is suffering a mid-life crisis that affects the lives of his family, which is made up of his super bitch of a wife Carolyn and rebelling daughter Jane, who hates him. Carolyn is a real estate agent, a little too wrapped up in her job, who takes on an affair with business rival Buddy Kane. Meanwhile Jane seems to fall in love with Ricky Fitts, the strange boy next door, who is a drug dealer/documentarian and lives under a roof governed by a very strict marine father and a speechless mother. Lester's mid-life crisis causes him to drastically change his life around when he quits his job and works at a fast food restaurant. He starts working out to gain the attention of Angela, a friend of Jane's, who brags about her sexual exploits every weekend. Lives change and not for the best. "

MY APPRAISAL

Do you know those feeling when you thought the movie was bad, but as time goes by you're starting to miss the movie and think that it shouldn't be that bad after all? I used to think American Beauty's highly overrated and I just couldn't see what's so special about this movie except its gorgeous poster and the memorable flower scenes? I thought this movie's ridiculous, had loads of revolting scenes, and the casts are creepy since I hated Thora Birch's role here. I mean let's forget those thoughts and it was all because I wasn't in a real good mood and now that I got my sanity back I realize how stupid those thoughts really were.

MOST BEAUTIFUL & STYLISH PICTURE EVER PRODUCED

American Beauty was superbly written, acted, and directed and it's a very pathetic thing to finally see them this late. Kevin Spacey delivered a strong performance as Lester Burnham like noone else did and his performance was inimitable. We can feel how devastated Lester was and how exasperating his life with all those desperation and emptiness. Lester's enormous depsperation takes him to acts of delusion and halluscinations. I always admire stories about what's running through one's head such as Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind. Fascinating, bring on some more!

The entire casts are terrific and credits to all of them (even the creepy Thora Birch, I don't know wether she actually is creepy or simply the role she played). With so many memorable quotes and extremely beautiful scenes, American Beauty is an artistic work of perfection.

MY APPRAISAL

A TOP NOTCH MILESTONE OF A FILM.

Now I am actually speechless. The Wizard of Oz is definitely the kind of story that remains in our hearts and like they said, TIME has been powerless to put this amazing tale out of fashion. I know all of you have watched this one, maybe ages ago. But when you rewatch this, it's like you found a "long lost you" and start to reminisce the beauty of childhood. The soothing songs alongside the movie are truly enchanting, takes you to a journey of enchantment you never had.

At first, everyone welcomes Edward into the community, but soon things begin to take a change for the worse. "

MY APPRAISAL

A poetic tale by Tim Burton that scored the best 1 hour and 45 minutes experience. Edward Scissorhands is astonishingly charming, utterly an original fairy tale with a darkness that would be irrational if it wasn't handwork of Tim Burton. This movie is definitely thiiiiiiis close to real PERFECTION and definitely a authentic work of art. A movie you can't help but love, delivered by gracefully beautiful pictures, unforgettable scenes, and soothing score by a well-known genius composer Danny Elfman. If you don't shed a single tear, I bet you have a heart of a stone. Johnny Depp is the excellent cast, show the endearing Edward in few words, saying it all through his eyes and pure gentle gesture. This is the one role everyone would never forget and people will talk how they had witnessed a great actor Depp is.

DEFINITELY A MAGIC ON THE CUTTING EDGE.

MY APPRAISAL

AN EXQUISITE PICTURE, STUPEFYINGLY GORGEOUS!

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an ultimate rare masterpiece. The two hours and fourty six minutes duration was all worth it since the picture was utterly glorious within its every seconds. Not that I say it was a perfection. I think Benjamin Button provided anything but David Fincher's signature and seemed a little too Burton-ish. The ending wasn't something we wouldn't have expected from the beginning of the film. However, the special effects were superb, great performances from Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and 13 Oscar nominations don't seem an exaggeration, that's for sure. But I'll be damned if Brad Pitt gains his upper hand and titled "Actor of The Year" while Mickey Rourke bites the dust.

There's one scene that I truly love. The scene about life being what it is - a series of intersecting lives and incidents. Benjamin Button is the kind of movie that wil change how you see life and appreaciate ones you love while they're still alive. No matter how you go through this life- forward or backward, life was defined by opportunities, even the ones we missed.

Now it is only with Alicia's help that he will be able to recover his mental strength and regain his status as the great mathematician we know him as today. "

MY APPRAISAL

It took 2 hours and 16 minutes and voila! It's on my all time top 6!

A BEAUTIFUL FILM!

Among the ocean of Oscar worthy films of 2001, A Beautiful Mind is what I consider the very best and thank God the Oscar are also in the same opinion. I'd be really pissed off if LOTR: The Fellowship of The Ring got the BEST PICTURE title! Moulin Rouge was OK, but I don't fancy musicals (I lied. I HATE musicals, they bore me). So that leaves Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind to gain the upper hand.

At first, I'd have to mention Russel Crowe because he deserved to. His acting was so damn brilliant!! I was totally amazed!! Noone could play the John Nash part as great, as astounding, and as excellent as him. He is absolutely gripping and able to transform himself into John Nash completely and viewers will forget that he is playing a role. This might be the second greatest role he'd ever done in his career (since The Gladiator). It's a sad thing he lost the Best Actor title to Denzel Washington from The Training Day.

The script writer must've know that the general idea about schizophrenia (I could barely spell it!) is an Oscar bait. It's rare but f*cking brilliant! The story toy with our emotion easily as it's superbly acted and remarkably directed.

Jennifer Connelly wasn't annoying like she was in HULK. She did a really great job here and this is her best performance I've seen. I can say A Beautiful Mind had excellent casts. A Beautiful Mind teaches a very important lesson that we may conquer all the beasts, even the strongest one in the world but the biggest enemy is our every self. And it is important to us to win over ourself and never let your illusion controls you.

INSPIRING AND AN ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Paul Edgecomb is a slightly cynical veteran prison guard on Death row in the 1930's. His faith, and sanity, deteriorated by watching men live and die, Edgecomb is about to have a complete turn around in attitude. Enter John Coffey, He's eight feet tall. He has hands the size of waffle irons. He's been accused of the murder of two children... and he's afraid to sleep in a cell without a night-light. And Edgecomb, as well as the other prison guards - Brutus, a sympathetic guard, and Percy, a stuck up, perverse, and violent person, are in for a strange experience that involves intelligent mice, brutal executions, and the revelation about Coffey's innocence and his true identity. It contains SPOILER! Just believe me, this one's the best movie I've ever watched and if you haven't watch it, you have 2 options : do nothing and spend the rest of your life not having any idea how cool this movie really is (shame on you) or watch it this instance and get fascinated by its awesomeness.

THE CASTS

Tom Hanks, David Morse, Sam Rockwell, Jeffrey DeMunn, Doug Hutchison, Michael Jeter, Bonnie Hunt, Michael Clarke-Duncan

MY APPRAISAL

Despite being three hours long, "The Green Mile" never drags for a moment. The general idea was superb, supported by brilliant performaces. Tom Hanks gives yet another Oscar-worthy performance as the perfect lead. He is a flawless cast for Paul Edgecomb. I can't even mention who is a better role than Hanks. Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan undoubtedly astounding in it. It's a real shame that Tom Hanks wasn't nominated for Best Actor and shame that Michael Clarke Duncan didn't win Best Supporting Actor.

Human spirit is really the main subject of the picture, the nature of compassion and cruelty, death and dignity.

There are some emotionally gut-wrenching scenes. May you bring a whole box of Kleenex with you. The dark subject matter is contrasted, however, with dim-witted John Coffey, who was accused of raping and murder.

SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!

............................................

It had been a twist of character...Coffey turned to be innocent and loving when he cured Edgecomb from his unrinary infection (he used to have constant paint during the first..i don't know...60 minutes of the movie) he also cured the warden's wife who suffer a deadly brain tumor using that special talent of his...so it really breaks my heart when he still had to face that blasted electric chair...for a crime he didn't commit! it's so poignant...FYI, this is just a trivia. Michael Clark Duncan was uncomfortable with having to grab Tom Hanks' crotch for the scene where he takes his infection away. Hanks left the set, came back to do the scene, Duncan grabbed at Hanks' crotch and was shocked because Hanks had put an empty water bottle in his pants. After that, Duncan felt more comfortable with the scene.

............................................

Some other characters are meant to be really hateful yet intolerable. Percy Wetmore and Wild Bill bring the touch of exasperation and annoyance throughout the movie which make this movie even more colourful. Many times, a movie comes along that you know from the first few moments is going to be a great movie-going experience, one that touches you in deep places. This movie have the best quotes so it's a tough work to pick only few quotes to be penned here. Maybe some of you didn't find this appealing or somekind but believe YOU'LL FALL FOR IT!

"The Green Mile" is such a movie, and no doubt is my pick for the BEST and STRONGESTmovie ever.

"On the day of my judgment, when I stand before God, and He asks me why did I kill one of his true miracles, what am I gonna say? That is was my job? My job?"

I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. His spirit and determination, leads us into a world full of imagination, filled with courage and desire. Will Andy ever realise his dreams...?"

MY APPRAISAL

BEST PICTURE OF ALL TIME

Another Darabont masterpiece! Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile are two movies you must see before you die. Honestly I can't quite decide which one is the best movie ever produced in the history of film-making. And I can't decide it until now. So when I put Shawshank Redemption on my #1, it doesn't mean The Green Mile is less or what. Both are simply WORKS OF GENIUS and more or less a tour de force.

I ain't gonna judge a single damn thing about Shawshank Redemption. What's left to criticize the universal measurement of perfection? The performances are exceedingly outstanding, gracefully beautiful pictures, and glorious original scores. Great scene selections and terrific character development, so the viewers easily root to each characters. We could feel the warmth of friendship between Andy and Red. I lost count at how many times I trembled at this movie's greatness.

This movie changed the way you see things in life and in fact, it may change your life. That seperates Shawshank Redemption from any other movies. Never in your life you see a movie this magical and compelling at the same time like this magic you have witnessed in Shawshank Redemption. No matter what you have to encounter in life, you own one thing that noone can't touch it....HOPE.

And it will set you free.

Andy Dufresne: "That's the beauty of music. They can't get that from you... Haven't you ever felt that way about music?"

Red: "I played a mean harmonica as a younger man. Lost interest in it though. Didn't make much sense in here.

Andy Dufresne: "Here's where it makes the most sense. You need it so you don't forget."

Red: "Forget?"

Andy Dufresne: "Forget that... there are places in this world that aren't made out of stone. That there's something inside... that they can't get to, that they can't touch. That's yours."

Red: "What're you talking about?"

Andy Dufresne: "Hope."

A breathtaking and magnificent moving story of all time. Not just a terrific kid-friendly cartoon, but also a superlative drawn movie.. The movie plots are spicy, the soundtracks are brilliant, and overall, it's flawless. It managed to bring soothing atmosphere and a true Disney Classic. THE MOVIE OUTLINE

One year later, Dan meets photographer Anna Cameron and tries to pick her up, but she rebuffs him. In revenge, Dan sets Anna up for an embarrassing encounter with sex-addicted dermatologist Larry Gray, but the two end up seeing each other. Then another year later, Dan and Anna begin an affair of their own, and relationships between the four collapse. Over the next year, all of them become obsessed with hurting each other and wreak some heavy emotional damage. Will any of them be strong enough to put this destructive sequence of events to a stop? "

MY APPRAISAL

The movie theme core is that INTIMACY IS A LIE. The closer a couple become in a relationship, the more they are paved by deceptions. I should say this movie has fantasticly succeeded to put the audience in the picture.

Generally, the entire casts are fairly perfect. Come on, what more we could ask for? We have the mother of America's most favourite twins, the so-called James Bond on the next. Well, despite Jude Law's poor performance, they still are. I mean, i used to be his fan, but those wacky cries he made really makes me barf. Was it really that hard to act like a chicken cheating bastard who knows nothing but cowardice?? But thanks to the blindsiding "Sexiest Man Alive" award, he's slightly better than Orlando Bloom.
Regardless, the other three has managed to save the whole film with their outstanding performances. I admire Clive Owen inimitable accent, a lot. The other stupendous two, Roberts and Portman, i always love their flawless performance. Despite the fact Roberts every so often a pain in the neck, how she winds up the movie, winning over the male role while there's still other female (America's Sweethearts, etc.).

I get to adore this movie even more every time I rewatch it. Because however, without ever showing a sex scene on screen, the're able to portray the nasty nature of lust, deception, obsession, and jealousy without actually exploiting these acts. The screenwriter is utterly skilled with smart dialogues that reflects every meaning of every word and the next thing I admire so badly, is the portrait of everyone as victims but also an abuser on the next scene, though not always in the most obvious ways. Closer is very adult, bold, and smoking hot.

Highly recommended.

Dan: "Didn't fancy my sandwiches?"

Alice: "Don't eat fish."

Dan: "Why not?"

Alice: "Fish piss in the sea."

Dan: "So do children."

Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. And also make sure your seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position. Get yourself ready to experience most overwhelming 139 minutes of your life.. Apparently, I never saw any movie this astonishing, this captivating, and this close to perfection! Sitting in front of 2.5-inch iPod display during flight, I discovered this kind of tour de force and I NEARLY FAINTED AT ITS AWESOMENESS!!! At first I watched this movie, when I was only 98% in understanding the whole movie, I already blessed it with 4 and a half stars. But a few hours afterwards at the exactly same day, I rewatch this and fulfilled the other 2%, I decided to give it whole 5 stars. Believe me, if you've watched it once, you have to go for second to completely grasp how oustanding this movie truly is.

Authentically adapted from Chuck Palahniuk's cult novel, Fincher's film contains mischief, spiritual suicide, a nameless insomnia, soap, moreover the testicular cancer which some of us interpretate it as a masculine film. Fincher translates Palahniuk's muscular prose into impressive images as fresh and invigorating as they are profoundly disturbing. Flincher also gives Pitt and Norton the space to deliver what may be the best performances of their careers. They are GREAT actors. Both Pitt and Norton gave their very best yet the roles are undoubtedly inimitable.

Helena Bonham Carter, Jared Leto and Meat Loaf are equally striking in supporting roles. There's never a slow moment here and I enjoy every second this David Ficher's MASTERPIECE.
MY ALL-TIME BEST.

BRILLIANT SCRIPT, A++ LIST PERFORMANCES, EXCESSIVELY STAGED.

"

MY APPRAISAL

A STRAIGHT KNOCKOUT!

The best and most lavish action flick in this decade. The brand new Casino Royale sets also a brand new standard for espionage escapade that will be tough to top. I found Casino Royale the slickest action flick I've ever seen. Casino Royale impressively relaunches James Bond with tension-filled high stakes poker games and exhilarating action sequences.

There's one certain reason why Casino Royale is the greatest and hippest Bond flick in ages and his name is Daniel Craig. A daring way to represents Ian Fleming's legendary action hero. A brand new Bond package sure is a risky thing to do. More complicated and hard-hitting. Either it will cause career suicide or a highly praised modern James Bond era. And Craig has done a superb job. Not only amazed the viewers with all his action scenes, he put a soul in the movie. He's on the spotlight, he's adorable, he's sex on wheel, and he's without hesitation the BEST JAMES BOND EVER.

A step in the right direction for the Bond franchise and yet the most ELECTRIFYING AND SENSATIONAL 007 flick ever produced.

"I have no armour left. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me - whatever is left of me - whatever I am - I'm yours.''

"

MY APPRAISAL

I don't know how and why I like this movie so badly. The phrase here means : "this is the best romantic flick I ever watch in a peculiar kind of way". And I don't give a sh*t of what everyone else think and there's NO WAY you can change my thought about it:

BEST PICTURE OF 2005

I think the Academy are losing their brain by winning Crash over Brokeback Mountain. Crash triumph had A LOT MORE to do with homophobia than the quality. Again, no objection! I will explain you my dear friend, why dare I said that.

The funny thing about this Brokeback Mountain is the taboo word 'love' is never spoken. As a matter of fact, Brokeback Mountain has the utterly passionate and rich way of showing it, not by telling it. I consider both Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as my favorite actors since they are very talented, hot-looking (hell yeah, they are!), and for their tremendously class performance. They gave their very best here and successfully bind theirself into the character. Strange chemistry sparks and strong in a good-odd-way. How in the hell did Heath Ledger act insanely good? One time he is a town casanova, he's a nightmarish and relentless Joker, and one slashy queer. And all of them are tremendously great. Well, I'll have to admit that some scenes are somewhat nasty. (moreover to a 16 year old girl like me!)

The scores were beautifully composed and deserve every bit of Oscar. I totally adore it and I consider the score as the best one ever. The story is quite simple but beautiful. Screenwriters Diana Osanna and Larry McMurthy have extrapolated the sentimental aspects, particulary in giving a dramatic presence to the women in Jack and Ennie's life. No lack of character development, they are completely flawless. If anyone is the main seducer it is Jack Twist, played by Gyllenhaal . He shows that he has matured into one of the most charismatic actors of his generation.

Unfortunately for Brokeback Mountain, this sexual orientation issue is often exaggerated (like one of my fellow friend who refuse to watch Brokeback Mountain because she loathes gay guys) to tease those homophobes who often claim exclusive custody in western countries and leaves never ending discussion. But Brokeback Mountain is surely new in a daring and provoking way, remove the invisibility cloak and established how homosexual men can exist without living a lie.
It is a devastating ironic story in many ways, a story of wasted passion, but a wonderful moving story, too. And NOONE CAN CRITISIZE ME WHEN I STATE:

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN DESERVES THE BEST PICTURE TITLE

Jack Twist: "Tell you what, we coulda had a good life together! Fuckin' real good life! Had us a place of our own. But you didn't want it, Ennis! So what we got now is Brokeback Mountain! Everything's built on that! That's all we got, boy, fuckin' all. So I hope you know that, even if you don't never know the rest! You count the damn few times we have been together in nearly twenty years and you measure the short fucking leash you keep me on - and then you ask me about Mexico and tell me you'll kill me for needing somethin' I don't hardly never get. You have no idea how bad it gets! I'm not you... I can't make it on a coupla high-altitude fucks once or twice a year! You are too much for me Ennis, you sonofawhoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you."

Ennis Del Mar: "[crying] Well, why don't you? Why don't you just let me be? It's because of you Jack, that I'm like this! I'm nothin'... I'm nowhere... Get the fuck off me! I can't stand being like this no more, Jack."

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

His true identity is only known by his superiors Dignam and Oliver Queenan. The protégée of Costello, Colin Sullivan, is promoted in the Massachusetts State Police and is the informer of Costello. MY APPRAISAL

PIECE OF EXPLOSIVE CINEMA!

Outstanding and sensational, The Departed is the most enjoyable crime movie of 2006. I shamelessly in love with this Martin Scorsese's dazzling work. The entire crew and storyline SWEPT ME OFF MY FEET!. The Departed has everything needed to make one movie enjoyable but also intelligent at the same time. This is how a crime movie should be made. It has masterclass acting on top of brilliant storytelling. A bit disappointing to find out that this is only a remake of Hong Kong's Infernal Affairs.

Daammn. Mark Wahlberg was brilliant!! It's without doubt his very best performance I've ever seen. He was my hero before he's f*cked as seen in The Happening and Max Payne. He's fierce, exasperating, and also very very stylish. I love his character most of all! I wanna see more him at top of his game.

The excellent cast made it possible to handle such complex story. Leonardo DiCaprio at his best and so is Matt Damon. Jack Nicholson was OK but not at his finest. DiCaprio, all eyes on him! I totally adore the matured DiCaprio as also seen in Blood Diamond, Body of Lies. It was a goodbye to our slashy "I'm the king of the world!" boy to Leonardo DiCaprio, a serious actor.

I rewatched The Departed again on 2.5 inch iPod screen but the compelling and tense story made it possible to increase my heart rate. No kidding. I was stunned and very thrilled. This might not be everyone's favourite of Martin Scorsese's but whoever miss this classy flick of his, consider yourself at a HUGE LOSS.

Stylistically directed and beautifully cut. The Departed, this year's most mesmerizing motion picture.

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Olive Hoover, a seven year old girl, has one goal: to win a beauty pageant. Her heroin-addicted grandfather is her coach, and when she becomes a finalist in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant, her whole family takes on the road in an old run-down VW. The trip is anything but smooth; her father Richard is struggling to promote his self-help program, with no success, mother Sheryl is trying to simply keep her family happy and together, her brother Dwayne will not to speak until he joins the Air Force academy and, to quote himself, "hates everyone," and her uncle Frank must come with them after attempting suicide when he fell in love with one of his male graduate students. The first in a long run of disasters is the bus breaking down, causing them all to push it to get the trip started. There are MANY more things, however, which hinder Olive's Little Miss Sunshine career."

MY APPRAISAL

ORIGINAL & CLASSY FAMILY-ON-THE-ROAD COMEDY!

One of my favourite movies of all time. I never thought I'd like it this much. I thought the whole idea about family-on-the-road comedy is crap after I saw R.V. (which I hate). But Little Miss Sunshine proves me wrong! I think Little Miss Sunshine and Juno are similar in some way. And just as I know Juno's pretty cool, I never liked it. I prefer this one a lot more since it hit me very hard like a big yellow van.

Little Miss Sunshine deserves every credits it gets. The script is certainly flawless and supported by A list performances. It has many memorable moments and quotes. Not a single moment is wasted. I mean you know those movie who put us unescessary scenes. There's not a single scene is in this film without having a reason for being there. And sure huge credits to all the crew. Toni Collette stunning performance as a mother (again!), Greg Kinnear, and Steve Carell are equally great. Abigail Breslin is a star since she never let me down. I really like Paul Dano here and Dwayne Hoover is my favourite LMS character. The chemistry sparks between the characters and it has all the features to make one movie irresistable since it radiates charm and warmth.

JUICIEST 5 STAR ENTERTAINMENT OF THE YEAR.

Dwayne: "I wish I could just sleep until I was eighteen and skip all this crap-high school and everything-just skip it."

Frank: "Do you know who Marcel Proust is?"

Dwayne: "He's the guy you teach."

Frank: "Yeah. French writer. Total loser. Never had a real job. Unrequited love affairs. Gay. Spent 20 years writing a book almost no one reads. But he's also probably the greatest writer since Shakespeare. Anyway, he uh... he gets down to the end of his life, and he looks back and decides that all those years he suffered, Those were the best years of his life, 'cause they made him who he was. All those years he was happy? You know, total waste. Didn't learn a thing. So, if you sleep until you're 18... Ah, think of the suffering you're gonna miss. I mean high school? High school-those are your prime suffering years. You don't get better suffering than that."

"It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something."

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Several stories interweave during two days in Los Angeles involving a collection of inter-related characters, a police detective with a drugged out mother and a thieving younger brother, two car thieves who are constantly theorizing on society and race, the white district attorney and his irritated and pampered wife, a racist white veteran cop (caring for a sick father at home) who disgusts his more idealistic younger partner, a successful Hollywood director and his wife who must deal with the racist cop, a Persian-immigrant father who buys a gun to protect his shop, a Hispanic locksmith and his young daughter who is afraid of bullets, and more. "

MY APPRAISAL

The title Best Picture of the year 2005 defines it all. Crash strongly portrays the complexities of racial conflict in United States in a provocative and persistent look.

Noone ever UNMASKED the racial and class division in U.S. society as POWERFUL, INTELLIGENT, and any better than Crash does.

MOST POWERFUL MOTION PICTURE OF THE YEAR.

*But don't get me wrong. Crash and Brokeback Mountain are equally terrific, but Crash winning over Brokeback had a lot more to do with those homophobes. By other words, like one of my fellow friend said, Brokeback was obviously robbed.

"Look around! You couldn't find a whiter, safer or better lit part of this city. But this white woman sees two black guys, who look like UCLA students, strolling down the sidewalk and her reaction is blind fear. I mean, look at us! Are we dressed like gang-bangers? Huh? No. Do we look threatening? No. Fact, if anybody should be scared around here, it's us: We're the only two black faces surrounded by a sea of over-caffeinated white people, patrolled by the triggerhappy LAPD. So you tell me, why aren't we scared?"

MY APPRAISAL

EMOTIONALLY POWERFUL AND CAPTIVATING

Cinderella Man will leave you breathless on your sofa for its awesomeness. Never in my life I rooted for a sporting film like I rooted for James J. Braddock. So here's the situation : I was on the egde of my seat, hold on to my sofa pillow tight, and praying he would prevail. One of my favourite movie of all time besides the only sporting film I ever admire. You wouldn't hate it either, because you know what, you don't have any reason not to like it as it is GORGEOUSLY SHOT with excellent editing. It'll SWEPT YOU OFF YOUR FEET.

The credit goes to all the casts. Russell Crowe, you're my man! He played Braddock sensitively and delivered an Oscar-caliber performance. Paul Giamatti really impressed me, he brought an Oscar-worthy performance and I know he'd never let me down. A surprising performance by Craig Bierko made the entire casts excellent.

I was totally amazed by the real James J. Braddock. He amazed me with his determination, he never stops struggling for getting what he aimed. I hate to repeat this but, I'm always sure that a man's greatness is measured by determination and the courage of his heart. It's courage that simply makes you.

Ron Howard's Cinderella Man is the best American film since another movie that revolved around a boxer, Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby.

EDGE OF YOUR SEAT, PEOPLE!

"Maybe I understand, some, about having to fight. So you just remember who you are... you're the Bulldog of Bergen, and the Pride of New Jersey, you're everybody's hope, and the kids' hero, and you are the champion of my heart, James J. Braddock."

MY APPRAISAL

A good friend of mine has this theory :
"if our schoolmates say 'this movie is boring/horrible/dull', that means it probably the best movie you'll ever watch..
but..
if the phrase
'this movie's friggin' cool/rocks/incredible!' means a warning because it would be all rubbish." So sad, yes, but that's the awful truth.

So when this friend I know say Painted Veil's sooo dull.....

well, you get the idea.

A portrait of betrayal and trust wrapped in beautiful scenes in "The Painted Veil". The characters developments is flawless. Edward Norton and Naomi Watts' character seem real and far from being over dramatized. Both actings terrific. As I saw Norton plays Walter Fane, I didn't see him as roles he played in Illusionist or Fight Club but simply as the quiet and complicated bacteriologist. This is just a testimony how excellent Norton did his job here. I ADORE HIM VERY MUCH!!

The Painted Veil visually impressive. The scenery is tremendously breathtaking. Beside focusing on the visualization, the movie succeeded to boost its emotional substances. With both flawless performances, it's slow moving in a peaceful and charming way.

This is not about infatuation..nor obesession. This is a story about affection and forgiveness and .

FORGIVENESS COMES AT A PRICE.

Walter Fane: "Hello."

Kitty Garstin: "Hello."

Walter Fane: "Say, I was wondering... "

Kitty Garstin: "What?"

Walter Fane: "Sorry. I - I was wondering if you'd like to dance."

Kitty Garstin: "Why not?"

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"After being sent away by Judge Turpin, Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop, where she sells "the worst pies in London." With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd means to rid London of the corrupt aristocracy, and hopes to be reunited with his daughter, Johanna, who is now Judge Turpin's ward."

MY APPRAISAL

THE BLOODIEST MUSICAL MASTERPIECE IN STAGE HISTORY.

Tim Burton provided a shady musical, with hugh ammount of blood and gore. Without cheery boogie like most musicals, Sweeney Todd's more like an eerie revenge tragedy with misfortune, heartbreak, mayhem and strange meet pies.

Depp and Burton did a solid collaboration and they were utterly fantastic. It seems that whenever the name of Burton is mentioned, you wait to see if Depp will follow. The two work well and often together, and it is good thing that they have formulated a quality picture in Sweeney Todd.

The visual style in Sweeney Todd is utterly GORGEOUS. Burton captures the essence of the time period in London and does a slick job of taking you there to the dirty streets. Typical of Burton films, the screen is shady much of the time - but very suitable and breathtaking. The special visual effects and the set design were used together in such a way that are gorgeous to look at, but never distract the viewers from what was happening on screen.

The casts are entirely FLAWLESS. The leading role and sidekicks built solid performances side by side. Depp, Carter, also Rickman and Timothy Spall delivered straight A list performances. Credits to all crews for their splendid job.

And here's the best part of Sweeney Todd : strong movie plots. It swirled the viewers' emotion for the mistreat, slander, and resentment. And I conclude, A NEW MILESTONE OF FIRST RATE MUSICAL.

THEATRICALLY ARTISTIC & MIND-BLOWING

"No, not Barker. That man is dead. It's Todd now. Sweeney Todd.. and he will have his revenge."

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
"You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story..."

Rated: (R)
Directed by: Michel Gondry
Genres: Romance, Drama, Comedy
Starring : Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Wilkinson

This is the story of a guy, Joel, who discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine, has undergone a psychiatrist's experimental procedure in which all of her memory of Joel is removed, after the couple has tried for years to get their relationship working fluidly. Frustrated by the idea of still being in love with a woman who doesn't remember their time together, Joel agrees to undergo the procedure as well, to erase his memories of Clementine. The film, which takes place mostly within Joel's mind, follows his memories of Clementine backwards in time as each recent memory is replaced, and the procedure then goes on to the previous one, which is likewise seen, and then erased. Once the process starts, however, Joel realizes he doesn't really want to forget Clementine, so he starts smuggling her away into parts of his memory where she doesn't belong which alters other things about his memories as well..

You wouldn't expect something average or simply OK in this fantastically amazing and tremendously twisted romatic flick. You would expect something with brilliance, like a work of art. The main core of the movie is in the particular character's head and that's where the best part of it lies within. And it's here that the filmmakers lavish their most insightful and far-fetched notions. After dropping the famous goofy face of his, Carrey has never done anything this deeply felt and he is doing perfect. He seems keen on it, it's not always to look foolish to impressed the viewers. Winslet, one of the best actresses anywhere, is electrifying and bruisingly vulnerable. The entire casts are nearly perfect and solid, mostly solid.
Both director Michel Gondry and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman bring out all the odds of the idea and take us into one's jumpy mind, just like in the best sci-fi, it's first and foremost a metaphor of a dilemma. And this not-very-new thing about escaping the truth, should we better off eliminate our heartbreaks instead taking them to your grave?
Eternal Sunshine is one delightful work of art and ultimately tender, an honest portrayal of what they called (genuine) 'intimacy'.

"How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot.. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.

Catch Me If You Can
Can't get enough of Tom Hanks...he and Stevie (as we know, the planet's most favourite director EVER) had successfully formulated a movie into a real work of art...
"Catch Me If You Can" utterly is a side-splitting entertainment with charms that are hard to resist...Spielberg did a daring take on Frank Abagnale Jr.'s life...he really did...but those charms are not Stevie's single-handedly...Tom Hanks with his distinctive warm persona makes the exact Carl Handratty, a lonesome and workaholic divorcee FBI...with DiCaprio the Hollywood's #1 heartthrob as Frank Abagnale, a kid who cashed millions dollar amounts in fraudulent checks and in order to run away from the FBI, pretended to be airline pilot, lawyer, doctor, even a college professor...i consider this also the best team working in Hollywood...
Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks deliver 5 stars performance...they really are stars on screen!! DiCaprio's bright charisma had outdone the crybaby side of him as seen in Titanic...he really did a fantastic job...
the storyline is terrific...i was totally amused by Hanks-DiCaprio mouse-and-cat nature throughout the movie, how Frank always escaped rapidly and how Handratty ended up punked...
As it is been told, a supremely entertaining movie I'm strongly recommend...

Perempuan datang atas nama cinta
Bunda pergi karena cinta
Digenangi air racun jingga adalah wajahmu
Seperti bulan lelap tidur di hatimu
yang berdinding kelam dan kedinginan
Ada apa dengannya
Meninggalkan hati untuk dicaci
Lalu sekali ini aku melihat karya surga
dari mata seorang hawa
Ada apa dengan cinta?

Tapi aku pasti akan kembali
dalam satu purnama
untuk mempertanyakan kembali cintanya..
Bukan untuknya, bukan untuk siapa
Tapi untukku
Karena aku ingin kamu
Itu saja.

"Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?" is the Indonesian teen movie that broke box office records in Indonesia in 2001 and has proven hugely popular in screenings overseas as well. Produced by a group of young filmmakers, who are starting to win prizes abroad, it represents a new optimism in Indonesia consonant with the expectations of the post-Suharto reform generation.
A sharply etched yet humorous love story of growing infatuation, ambivalence and near misunderstanding between two idealistic teenagers (Cinta and Rangga) at a high school in Jakarta, this sophisticated and charming film provides an engaging portrait of young people from the middle classes in a major Asian capital city. Cinta (the name means "love") is a member of a teenage girl gang and we first see her in this context. The rather isolated Rangga is a budding poet. When Rangga wins the school poetry competition, Cinta, who also writes poetry and helps edit the student Bulletin Board, wants to interview him, but meets with refusal. Rangga is passionate about the literature of his country, but is alienated from his fellow students due to the break up of his parents' marriage and the political oppression of his father. Cinta sets out to understand this puzzle.
The film deploys the usual conventions of the genre of the teen romance, but deliberately adds in other elements - calculated use of Jakarta teenage slang, allusions to creative and radical figures in literature and cinema in Indonesia, who stand as role models for the young people, and references to continuing political problems in Indonesia. Underneath its glossy surface and its romantic resolution, the film is asking questions about the idealism of young people and suggesting to teenagers that they think harder about the problems posed by their society and by relations between men and women.

I sincerely give an applause for this one amazing indonesian movie. Hats off! AADC surpasses everyone's expectation. No doubt, to me this is Indonesia's best movie ever!! This is the very first time I am really in love with Indonesian movie.
The poems are real jaw drapper and true instead of repulsive. Though the story itself is quite simple but still beautiful. Dian Sastro acts beautifully natural and realistic. She and Nicholas Saputra are excellent fits to play the roles. They might be young but the have succesfully showed a lot of promises and talent.
This this the one Indonesia movie that deserves a standing ovation. The main soundtrack Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? by Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed is also amazing yet it deserves the FFI award of best music composing. I actually hope someday Indonesia movie production rise from the ashes and able to compete globally. Indeed, Indonesia is working on the improvement and the results is quite promising, such as Denias : Senandung di Atas Awan, Berbagi Suami, GIE (also by Nicholas Saputra), and of course, Ayat-ayat Cinta.
A MUST WATCH foreign language speaking movie.

"It was better to be in the PLASTICS, hating life, than to not be in at all. Because being with the plastics was like being famous... people looked at you all the time and everybody just knew stuff about you."

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Raised in African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady Heron thinks she knows about survival of the fittest. But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled 15-year-old enters public high school for the first time and encounters psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today. "

MY APPRAISAL

MY MOST GUILTY PLEASURE!

Mean Girls is a very feminine flick and most guys loathes chick flicks. I do understand so I ain't gonna push you to like it. But you don't need to be cynical on this particular flick. This is nothing like John Tucker Must Die or worse, A Cinderella Story. No. Mean Girls is one of very few praise worthy chick flicks.

Among the oceans of my favourite movies (most of them are universally praised ones) and among the oceans of dreadful teenage flicks, Mean Girls is a rare treasure and one of a kind: A WELL-WRITTEN ONE. Mean Girls has many memorable quotes and scenes. I can't say I like Lindsay Lohan, but she really gave out her best in here. Screenwriter Tina Fey is certainly brilliant. She made the movie so alive and really really fresh! Mean Girls is one of those movie you wanna watch for the 100th times and you can't get enough of it.

Served with hypocrites, competition, sabotages, and smart girl-on-girl crime, Mean Girls is one of the best teen satire.

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Once upon a time in the kingdom of Andalasia, a beautiful young maiden named Giselle lives in a cottage in the forest. But before she can marry the dashing Prince Edward, Giselle is sent tumbling down a magical well - and finds herself in the non-animated, extremely disenchanted world of modern-day New York City. There, she befriends a cynical divorce lawyer, Robert, who isn't so sure that her prince is coming to rescue her. Giselle's spontaneous singing and fairy-tale demeanor enchant everyone around her as she waits for Prince Edward. But she's about to discover that love in the real world isn't always as easy as sharing a single True Love's Kiss - and that she'll need courage, spunk and maybe just a little enchantment if she's ever going to find her own happily-ever-after. "

MY APPRAISAL

Another Disney's work of art! Ultimately enchanting and highly recommended for everyone. The casts make it even more enjoyable. Gosh, I would watch this for the 100th times. The soundtracks are incredible (but never topped neither August Rush' Raise It Up nor Once Falling Slowly). But Enchanted's So Close and Happy Working Song aren't ones you would missed.

After screwing around with their High School Musical, finally AN ENCHANTING MEGA-HIT!

"And so, they all lived happily ever after."

THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"Sin City" is four stories inter-weaved telling tales of corruption in Basin City. The first story (The Customer is always right) is short, and is based on the depression of women that they need to pay a man to feel loved when they commit suicide. The next story is Part 1 of "That Yellow Bastard" about a cop who needs to save a young girl from being raped. The third story (The Hard Goodbye) features a man taking revenge on a heartless killer who murdered his one-night stand. The fourth story (The Big, Fat Kill) stars a man who must dispatch a cop's body, but it will be a tough ride to do it. Following that are two conclusions to Sin City, the ending of "That Yellow Bastard" which is set 8 years later, and a short story that ends Sin City. "

Sin City

MY APPRAISAL

If it wasn't Sin City, I would've fallen asleep, because I was damn drowsy that night. But on the other hand, I was driven by curiosity so I forced my sleepy head and shove in the DVD. But, all of a sudden my sleepiness vanished into thin air, I totally forgot how sleepy I was and I was so into the movie.

MASTERCLASS PICTURE OF THE YEAR!

In adapting Frank Miller's best-seller comic book series "Sin City", Robert Rodriguez knows well how it best served : cold and harm. Come in two daring flavours, sinners and whores. Allow me to welcome you to the shady life in a town called the city of sinners. Some call it a place to kill, a place to redeem nasty lust, yet a place where they all seeking for revenge.

Rodriguez delivers "Sin City" in 3 extraordinary bloodcurdling stories which will leave us beg for the sequels for good. They are "The Hard Goodbye", "The Yellow Bastard", and "The Big Fat Kill". The high contrast black and white image is absolutely stunning and make the film even more distinctive. Colours occasionally appear when someone's throat got cut off and one time when the yellow jackass shows up and bleed his horrible yellow blood. Totally "yeesh".

I fell in love with Clive Owen who starred as Dwight McCarthy. He's wicked fierce and he knows exactly how to do it flawlessly on screen. The naration he brought up is excellent. Jessica Alba is also a fairly exact cast for Nancy Callahan, a 19 years old whore with her innocent face but also drooling over man. What I truly disappointed in is Alexis Bledel. She's pretty, she has the qualified appearance as a prostitute. But Bledel's acting is way cheesy. She's badly outshined yet drawned by the Devon Aoki and Rosario Dawson. She tended to be a real annoying and promiscuous! I even hate her more when she turns out being the rat. What an unforgettable scene that is when Gail bite her neck like a wild animal. I was like 'way to go, whore, rip the little bitc* to death!'

It was my first thought that Sin City is a movie with the 'spot the star' syndrome just like many other. I mean, this refers to some up and coming names in Hollywood moreover to few established stars. One is on the comeback trail. Sin City bind us to the point where we're no longer watching actors with names, but the characters they are playing. For example, when we see Elijah Wood, we're not thinking of Frodo Baggins. And Bruce Willis isn't John McClane. More than anything else, that's a testimony to how excellent Rodriguez does his job.

Forrest Gump 1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
Rated: (PG-13)
Directed by: Robert Zemeckis
Genres: Drama
Casts: Tom Hanks, Robin Wright Penn

"My momma always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.'

"Stupid is as stupid does," says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon.

Affectionate and thrilling, Forrest Gump beautifully pictures every life chapters of a man who unfortunately has below-average iQ. Every ups and downs of his life he has got to deal with. It is just a movie yet i was astonishingly acted and made, so when something terrible happened to Forrest, i could possibly feel bad for him.
Nevertheless, I guess "Forrest Gump" wasn's just a movie about what everybody call dim- witted man. It opens up our eyes to that in every man lived an innocent child. Gump represents everyone of us before we all turned into a bitter people we are today. This is about life, seen from the perpective of the last virtuous men on earth. Forrest had to face the worst calamities in life...war, despise, and dying.
"Forrest Gump" really is something special, not to be missed. I have to mention Tom Hanks (again!), because his above class performance than others. The authentic storyline as well, it's something people can related to.
Tom Hanks has done many movies and played many characters but his performance as Forrest Gump will always be remembered as one of his true work of art. Tom Hanks, you're the man!

"Momma always says there's an awful lot you could tell about a person by their shoes. Where they're going. Where they've been. I've worn lots of shoes. I bet if I think about it real hard I could remember my first pair of shoes."
