My Favorite Movies

  LandoMcFly's Rating My Rating
1
Rushmore 1998,  R)
Rushmore
An absolute classic, my favourite film by Wes Anderson. Hilarious, but touching too.
2
The English Patient 1996,  R)
The English Patient
Engaging stuff in some beautiful settings, a fantastic film.
3
Princess Mononoke (Mononoke-hime) 1999,  PG-13)
Princess Mononoke (Mononoke-hime)
Simply stunning, this is everything an animated film should be! It looks beautiful and the story is terriffic.
4
The Phantom of the Opera 2005,  PG-13)
The Phantom of the Opera
Despite the fact the story centres around a pervert grooming a young girl for sex it's really rather good. The songs are marvellous and the acting by all the Brits involved is superb apart from maybe Miranda Richardson whose accent is pretty dodgy.

I also feel that Emmy Rossum's got the potential to be the next Natalie Portman.
5
Three Amigos! 1986,  PG)
Three Amigos!
Pure comedy gold, Chevy Chase was marvellous and features Steve Martin when he was actually funny, hard to believe as that is considering the last 10 years.
6
Commando 1985,  R)
Commando
"Let off some steam, Bennett."

Need I say more?
7
The Rules of Attraction 2002,  R)
The Rules of Attraction
Seeing this lead me to reading the excellent book by Bret Easton Ellis and the book and movie are actually rather different. Anyway both are great and Shannyn Sossamon is stunning in this.
8
Rocky 1976,  PG)
Rocky
Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers team up and in a boxing movie? You always knew this one would work.
9
Garden State 2004,  R)
Garden State
A terriffic film, Natalie Portman and Zach Braff are both in it so it's understandably awesome.
10
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Charlie Kaufman is usually a bit too surreal/wacky/whatever for me but I enjoyed this a lot. Was shocking to see Jim Carrey acting well too.
11
Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (Warriors of the Wind) 1984,  PG)
Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (Warriors of the Wind)
The second film I saw by Studio Ghibli and it's marvellous. Beauitful animation and a compelling story which has done more to make me think about the environment than anything else ever has. I'd strongly recommend this to those sick of tired and ugly computer-animations from Pixar and the like.
12
Planes, Trains and Automobiles 1987,  R)
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Another John Hughes classic with John Candy doing what he did best and vintage Steve Martin before he went insane and began only ever appearing in awful films. A comedy I'd highly reccommend.
13
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 2004,  R)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Michael Gambon is in so many films nowadays
14
Josie and the Pussycats 2001,  PG-13)
Josie and the Pussycats
Really good fun with an amazing soundtrack courtesy of Letters To Cleo too. Rachel Leigh Cook is a fox.
15
Little Man 2006,  PG-13)
Little Man
Now I'm not a fan of the Wayans brothers and I walked into the screen expecting to be thoroughly disappointed. However, this movie is pure brilliance. It's funny as hell and though the plot may make no sense at some points it doesn't matter as you're soon distracted from this by someone getting hit in the nuts. I almost peed myself as well when Rob Schneider appeared. If you love comedy then check this out.
16
The Man with Two Brains 1983,  R)
The Man with Two Brains
Steve Martin used to be so lulzworthy... Le sigh
17
The Jerk 1979,  R)
The Jerk
Some excellent vintage Steve Martin. It taught me to never trust whitey either.
18
Top Secret! 1984,  PG)
Top Secret!
Absolutely hilarious. Tops Airplane! and The Naked Gun movies.
19
The Spongebob Squarepants Movie 2004,  PG)

23
Wristcutters - A Love Story 2006,  R)
Wristcutters - A Love Story
Awesome concept for a film with some great deadpan humour. Shea Whigham is awesome in it.
24
Ghost 1990,  PG-13)
Ghost
It is cheesy? Yeah. Did Whoopi win an Oscar for this? Hell yeah!
