I can not describe the genius of this film with words, but i'll try: its bizzarre, its funny, it manages to cause a couple of goosebumps: It is brilliant.
Absolutely loved this movie. Bloom is a terrific actor; the characterization of a man going thru an identity criss after his life shambles apart is wonderful. The great thing about this movie is that it leaves ambiguity and isn't so "be this way, be that way" preachy as similar films are. True classic, one of my faves.
This is a cult classic. Critics hated it, and it flunked the box office, but it is still awesome. Danny Devito is an awesome director; I will watch any gold that man touches.
If you're looking for a film that has high adrenaline, non-stop superhero action entertainment, Watchmen will disappoint you to a degree. If you're looking for a word-for-word, picture-for-picture adaption of the comic, Watchmen will disappoint you to a degree. I mean, it does have all those, but it isn't all-out action and it isn't all-out faithful. But its beauty, its depth and underlying meaning, its deconstruction of superheroes, as it were, leaves it one of the best superhero films. Ever. I don't think I can fully understand it after one sitting, maybe not even several; but its an exceptional film if you can accept it an artist's level, and not just an entertainment level.
Another brilliant film by Michael Moore. More morbid then Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, this seems to be his best entry yet as it finally sets the tone. Perhaps not everything is credible, but Moore paints mostly accurate pictures and has a very unique, although biased, opinion on the world as a whole. His view of the American health care system, however, is dead on.
