Cinematic Gold! Ladies and gentlemen, the best foreign film ever made! I mean what was not great about this film. The story was awesome, the acting was superb, the direction was right on, the cinematography was incredable, the look and effects were realistic and effective. Defently one of the more different movies I've ever seen. Also one of the best crime movies, however, at points it hard to watch, but over all has a big impact on us by showing the world we live in and what really happening in other parts of the world. Yes its from Rio so it is subtitles for the entire movie, but it's one movie where you get so into the movie that the subtitles arn't even a problem. But why am I talking go see this movie where you want a awesome crime movie, a impactful movie, or just something completely different, I highly recommend this movie. Like Roger Ebert said, " One of the best films you'll ever see!", and you better believe it. |

Chasing Amy 1997, R)
WOW! Another knockout by Kevin Smith. Some of the best dialogue I have ever witnessed is in this movie. Not to mention how unique and refreshing the story line is with a great built inside. Defently makes it one of the best gay films I've seen too. The acting was dead on and I was moved by every situation in this great movie. It's not often that the acting is so good in a movie, that you feel what there feeling to the point that you think its actually yourself in the situations. The Jay and Silent Bob cameo was pretty sweet too. Music suited all the moods so did the atmospheres. Honestly this was one of the most realistic movies I've ever seen because not only did it make me feel like I was apart of the movie, but all the situations could actually happen and do happen in real life unlike other films. Basically, if you want a really good character driven movie that is really different from most movies and that has awesome acting, defently check this one out! Maybe it's because this was around the time that Ben Afflick won an oscar for Good Will Hunting, but no matter what, this is a movie you don't want to miss. |

Dead Alive (Braindead) 1992, R)
One of the best movies ever and probably the best horror comedy of all time! The only one I'm probably going to say that actually would be better is Evil Dead 2, but thats it. Honestly though, I'd say this and Evil Dead 2 tie with each other for best horror comedy ever! A must see, a blast to watch. Even the father mcGomerey bit is enough to make this amazing! Go see it! |

Suspiria 1977, R)
The atmosphere in this movie is so spectactular that that alone gives you chills. Not to mention the brilliant music scores by The Goblins who did the music for the original Dawn of the Dead, the acting was really well done, the lighting was some of the best I've ever seen, and overall the direction was awesome and kept the story a mystery throughout until the very end. Can't wait to see the second in the trilogy! P.S. This and Opera are Argento's best, don't miss them! |

Scarface 1983, R) |

Battle Royale 3D 2001, Unrated)
A movie where if you heard the premise, you probably wouldn't want to see it, but in fact it's a great film and a bloody yet creative idea. Not to mention the great direction, great acting, great story, along with a twist and a great musical score to suit the film. The cinematography was ok, but in a film as grizzly as this, it's not something you care to look for. A pleasent surprise from Japan again. Maybe it's because I've always been facinated by Japan and it's culture, maybe it's because I love love Japanese Cinema, but with a 83% from Rotten Tomatoes and 90% from Flixster, it's safe to say that "Battle Royale" is a unique film that's not to be missed! |

[Rec] 2007, R)
This was unreal! A horror movie that actually scared me throughout! Thats damn impressive because I never get scared in movies, in fact I can't remember another movie I've ever been scared of. Everything was perfect about this one and it does come as a big surprise for me because I didn't like "The Blair Witch Project" at all which was the big innovater for the handcam films. But this is where the handcam really brings the realism to thisterrifying story. Also, I always like a movie where they don't shy away from anything and Rec certainly shows you not only everything, but everything in your face like your in the apartment building with the other characters. The acting was excellent along with everything else. I'm going to try and remember scarier films or other films that scared me, but if I can come up with nothing or very little, you bet you ass this sucka is goin up to a five star on my favorite movies of all time list. Absolutly terrifying and it gets scarier and scarier every second until the final sequence where you sweating in terror! One of the scariest films ever made! |

Akira 1988, R)
Easily the best anime of all time. People rave about films such as "Ghost in the Shell" or "Blood: The Last Vampire", but honestly, they pale in comparison to this film. This is also apparently the anime that first payed attention to detail which is pretty remarkable. Amazing animation, amazing story, and a uniqueness to the film that I've never seen before. It's a superior film that should be seen by all! NOT TO BE MISSED! |

Pan's Labyrinth 2006, R) |
|

Ikiru (Doomed) (Living) (To Live) 1952, PG) |
|
| 58 |
Inception 2010, PG-13)
You've never seen a film like this. Mind blowing. It's so affective that there are often times that you forget that you're in a theatre and actually believe you are in a dream with these other characters and this cements more and more as the characters go away from reality and deeper into the dreams, taking us right along with them. Truly a masterpiece and worthy of best picture at the up coming Oscars along with many other wins and noms. |

Beauty and the Beast 1991, G) |

Black Christmas 1974, R)
What a great horror movie. I can't believe it took me this long to see it. This is the film that Halloween and many other slasher movies to follow tried to mimic. Halloween was the only one that managed to improve on this movie after it came out, but givin that it's what started the slasher genre and considering the great casting including John Saxon and Olivia Hussey, great story line, awesome cinematography that real works for the film's benefit, the unique choice of using Christmas for a horror movie and making it really work, creates great confusion, is really scary at different points, and one of my most favorite things about this film: you never find out who the killer is and it is assumed that the main character is actually killed in the end. I'd like to talk about this for a second. Why are horror movies always dependent on revealing their murderer's or villains? I mean if the reveal really works for the movie then sure(Saw), but otherwise, try and hold back your murderer and never show his face, it's generally a lot scarier that way. Also, dark endings work great in horror films and even the classic horror films, the main character is always saved, yet in Black Christmas, the movie that started the slasher genre, it ends very dark and terrifying. Now this isn't as rare as the "hiding the murderer" thing considering movies like Saw, The Descent, and even The freggin Dark Knight. However, it still isn't done enough and personally, it makes for a much more terrifying ending whenever it's done. As for guessing the killer, as I said before, you don't find out who he is. The believe in the end it's the main character's boyfriend which I didn't believe in the beginning and it's pretty predictible. However, the twist of having the killer still in the house after the police went in, never revealing him, creating the assumption that the killer is going to kill the sleeping main character which makes you imagine it, and finally takes you out of the house and into the cold, silent night. This film is a clear masterpiece and it has to be seen by every horror fan. DO NOT MISS THIS! |
