Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
When I was a boy I liked this one the least. As I grew older it became my favorite of the original three. By far the best of all six.

Babettes Gæstebud (Babette's Feast) 1987,  G)
Babettes Gæstebud (Babette's Feast)
So many profound things with culture and grace are said in this film. One of my favorite foreign films

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 1977,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
I was 10 when this came out and a matinee was $0.75. I saw it 14 times that summer. Awesome.
4
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) 1981,  PG)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Spielberg and Lucas decide to collaborate instead of duke it out. Result = pure entertainment. Thanks guys.
5
Groundhog Day 1993,  PG)
Groundhog Day
I like what this film has to say about character and grace.
6
How the Grinch Stole Christmas 1965,  Unrated)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The book was great, but the addition of Boris Karloff narrating and Thurston Ravenclaw (voice of Tony the Tiger) singing, makes it all that much better. Holiday staple for me.
7
Ghostbusters 1984,  PG)
Ghostbusters
"I couldn't help it... it just popped into my head." Funny, funny, funny.
8
Planes, Trains and Automobiles 1987,  R)
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
John Hughes leaves teen angst behind, to do a "road" picture with a redemptive ending. Candy and Martin in rare form. Thank you John.
9
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
As with the original Star Wars Trilogy, I find that I like the second film the best. The characters really come into their own in this film.
