The Chumscrubber
I crown this my favorite movie in my life...so far. I completely love Jamie Bell, he's such a phenomenal actor. This film made me like and appreciate Camilla Belle's talent. Justin Chatwin stood out and I hated him on screen so much which made me realize that he must have really prepped for this role. I hope I see Lou Taylor Pucci in more roles after this and Thumbsucker because he truly knows what he is doing. I was just blown away by the "adults" in this film. Completely and utterly. I don't have a favorite but Ralph Fiennes was impeccably quirky and unlike most characters that he plays which was really a breath of fresh air. Allison Janney made me laugh, she at times in the film has a deep heart but it's always clouded with something, haven't quite figured that out yet either. I could go on and on but I cannot seem to get these words to flow like normal so I would just like to say that this film is ingenious... The adults are basically kids and the kids try to be adults but they just aren't. It deals with so many levels but it's easy enough to keep up with. Most of the performances are top-notch and ironic. Definately worth and hour and forty-seven minutes.

The Dark Knight
I didn't listen to the reviews of people who went until after I experienced it for myself. I wanted nothing to ruin this masterpiece, which is what it was. I loved every single actor in it and they all did phenomenal jobs. What happened to Heath was deavastating for everyone but his death doesn't make the character portrayal any better out of sympathy. It was already perfect like this before he died. He gave us the best Batman villian ever. A twisted depiction that was chilling because of his way of making the joker as human as we could imagine which made it more lifelike and terrifying. I loved every minute of it. All the messages throughout the movie were almost overwhelming but amazingly true. I was really impressed with the lack of curse words, which I think can tarnish movie potential. The only thing that slightly was wrong for me was Christian Bale's voice as Batman. Way too gutteral and I'm sure that had to hurt doing it all the time. Maggie Gyllenhaal was the perfect substitution for Rachel Dawes; she brought substance to the part that Katie Holmes cannot even imagine doing. All Katie has is a face; Maggie has both that and a persona, her looks are more of practical subtle beauty which is what we needed with this movie. I was really blown away by the special effects and gadgets in this movie and I just kept thinking, "Wow that's awesome!" and looking at others in shock. I jumped more in this movie than any other that I could remember, I even kind of... shrieked at one point, to my embarrassment. It was really quite perfect, especially for a blockbuster that we've all been waiting for. Let me tell you... this one, is so worth it.

Death at a Funeral
Hilarious. I laughed all the way through, definitely going on my list. Alan Tudyk stole the show in my opinion but everyone else had fantastic performances.

Call me quirky, indie, whatever you want. You cannot convince me that this movie isn't all I've cracked it up to be. If and when I ever direct movies, I want mine to be somewhat similar to this one. It was dramatic, charming and funny without really trying all that hard to be. It flowed in the most natural way. I loved the dancing and the doodling, especially the drawing animation throughout the movie... May have been some of my favorite parts. I also found myself singing along with the songs. Seriously, I can't stress how good I thought this was. I still can't stop thinking about it.

Billy Elliot 2001,  R)
Billy Elliot
Definitely found its ground as one of my favorite movies. Insightful and well,-- no prose of mine will really explain how great everything about this film is, from the soundtrack to the dancing to Julie Walters. It's a shock that Jamie Bell really hasn't been catapulted into stardom. All the actors were superb and complex and I fell in love with that. I remember reading something Jamie Bell had once said, on the comment that with the removal of certain terms Billy Elliot could've been a PG-13 movie and he digressed and so do I... It wouldn't have had as great an impact if it were merely PG-13.

Rear Window
I love James Stewart and Grace Kelly was amazing... It was funny and suspenseful, Definitely one of my favorite Hitchcock Classics.

If Lucy Fell 1996,  R)
If Lucy Fell
Pretty much, one of those great movies you stumble upon and luckily, I did. This has humor and a classic twist on the sucide scale. The "Suicide Pact" makes it all the more refreshing, especially when Ben Stiller steps in as Bwick. (In his dreads and all) It wasn't really a typical romantic comedy in my mind. It was one of those movies where it shows you to just be patient. Or something like that.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer 2006,  R)
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
Enriching, intense, graphic, vulgar. Those are the words I have come up with after watching this. Yet, it is visually stunning and remarkable. I absolutely love the plot, absolutely. It is simple yet so original. It is based after a book, of which I haven't read but will definitely pick up. You have to wonder how Tom Tykwer does it. It flows well and at times I never want it to end. It is beautiful in a macambre way---it semi reminded me of Sleepy Hollow. Yet Sleepy Hollow cannot compare. At times I found myself laughing because I was so throughly shocked. Some parts were a bit too much for me but they still bring you in with a need. You just feel though you need to watch which is incredible. I don't know if I will ever watch it again though. I almost wish it came with a scratch and sniff card. I still can't stop thinking about it months later.

Scream
Scary, funny, spoofy-- awesome.

Zodiac 2007,  R)
Zodiac
Very very good. Long and can get a bit slow but worth it I thought. The ending was not quite my cup of tea but it was semi-satisfactory. I saw a bit of Gyllenhaal's performance from Donnie Darko in there which throughly amused me, but it fit. Robert Downey Jr. was simply amazing... He made me laugh so much. I was also quite impressed with Mark Ruffalo. The sheer determination and obsession in this movie was amazing.

Surf's Up 2007,  PG)
Surf's Up
I really really liked this... That seems to happen with me and movies, I don't want to see it and I like it a lot and I do want to see it and it dissapoints me... It's a neverending process. The music was great and the actors were as well. I like how it's kind of like reality/documentary style it made it interesting. Another movie where I could sit there with my brother and after a minute go "OH! I KNEW IT!! IN YOUR FACE!!" and him start yelling at me. Priceless.

Donnie Darko
Makes you never want to see another movie again. It's brilliant.

Garden State
Wow... completely surreal experience watching this at 2 in the morning and your friend falls asleep and you're sitting there by yourself soaking in all the philosophical references and the music and you end up realizing that this could be one of the best movies you've ever seen.
