An ever-growing list of my favourite films!

  kayleigh2904's Rating My Rating
1
Back to the Future 1985,  PG)
Back to the Future
This, along with it's two predecessors, in my opinion, hold up as three of the best action/comedy films of all time. The dialogue is memorable, performances are excellent, and overall just an enjoyable treat!
2
Back to the Future Part II 1989,  PG)
Back to the Future Part II
This holds up to be one of few films where the sequel holds up to be just as excellent as the first. Definately worth a watch!
3
Back to the Future Part III 1990,  PG)
Back to the Future Part III
Perhaps my favourite of the trilogy, this rounds off the rather superb Back To The Future series perfectly.
4
Aladdin 1992,  G)
Aladdin
Aladdin effortlessly combines brilliant songs and beautiful animation to make this one of the best Disney films of all time.
5
Sleepy Hollow 1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow
My favourite Burton film! OK it's not scary at all [but I think it's meant to be tongue in cheek] but it has some great action...not forgetting yet another brilliant excentric performence by Johnny Depp. Love the cinematography in this film too.
6
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 1998,  R)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
A brilliant film, needs more than one viewing to truly appreciate it though. The film stays true to the book by Hunter S. Thompson. It's wierd, wild and wonderful, with Depp providing an excellent performance as Raoul Duke. Definately worth checking out!
7
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 2003,  PG-13)
8
Mallrats 1995,  R)
Mallrats
Loved it! Very funny, yay for Jason Lee! :) Was pleased to see a Stan Lee cameo in it too!
9
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
An excellent sequel, still does not live up to the first one though. At times, it does seem a bit lengthy, but theres plenty of action and comedic turns to keep this entertaining.
10
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End 2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
Sure, it's nowhere near as good as the excellent first "Curse of the Black Pearl", but it rounds off the trilogy, and ties up loose ends. However, the plot does become rather confusing at points, but this can be made up for yet another entertaining, eccentric performance from Johnny Depp.
11
The Nightmare Before Christmas 1993,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
OK, so it may be overrated, due to the hype over the merchandise, but I happen to love this film. Excellent stop-animation, a great plot, the songs are memorable, and of course, I love Burton's gothic twist in the scenery.
12
Spider-Man 2002,  PG-13)
13
Spider-Man 2 2004,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 2
Not sure if this one is better than the first...still really excellent!
14
The Little Mermaid 1989,  G)
The Little Mermaid
My second favourite Disney film, Little Mermaid is everything the new Disney films should be:- great songs and beautiful animation.
15
Beetlejuice 1988,  PG)
Beetlejuice
One of my favourite 80s comedies. Yes, it's cheesy, and the effects are a little dated in todays standards, but Burton has managed to weave such an amusing tale here, it's OK to forget these things. I love it!
16
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Yet another great Burton film, laden with the trademark "Burton look & feel." Depp [somewhat surprisingly] had quite a good singing voice for his character, but I think my favourite character was Mrs Lovett [Bonham Carter], who brought a little humour to the film.

Burton doesn't go easy on the gore, making this a crimson-soaked musical, with quite a good twist in the ending.
17
Garden State 2004,  R)
Garden State
A very enjoyable film, Braff demonstrates his directing and acting skills to a good standard. The film was supported by a great cast, and good soundtrack, featuring such bands as The Shins [Caring Is Creepy, for instance, is a brilliant song!].
18
The Shawshank Redemption 1994,  R)
The Shawshank Redemption
Brilliant film. Quite sad in places. Great acting, and some of the dialogue was great too!
19
Edward Scissorhands 1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands
Perhaps one of the best films Burton has made, Edward Scissorhands is a touching, gothic fairytale.
20
Me, Myself & Irene 2000,  R)
Me, Myself & Irene
Brilliant! Prob one of my favourite comedy films.
21
Léon (The Professional) 1994,  R)

22
Little Nicky 2000,  PG-13)
Little Nicky
Prob my favourite Sandler film.
23
Get Over It 2001,  PG-13)
Get Over It
Very funny at times, especially because of Martin Short and Ben Foster. Get Over It is a great rom-com that sort of feels a little different from others.
24
Anastasia 1997,  G)
Anastasia
Whilst not being historically accurate, Anastasia has beautiful animation, an all-star cast and great songs that makes this an entertaining film.
25
Little Miss Sunshine 2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
Serious and quirky yet a witty and overall enjoyable film.
26
Dogma 1999,  R)
Dogma
I'm not a religious person myself, so I didn't find anything offensive to me personally. I found a very funny religious satire. Another great film from Kevin Smith!

Pocahontas
Classic Disney film, back when Disney still included brilliant songs in their films.
30
A Walk to Remember 2002,  PG)
31
The Breakfast Club 1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
Great 80s film, as usual in teen films, this one comes with a bit of American cheese, but overall a great film.
32

33
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986,  PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
A brilliant 80s comedy.

Really enjoyed this film, great shots, great synopsis, and overall, an ending I wouldn't have guessed on first viewing.
35
The Green Mile 1999,  R)
The Green Mile
Aww I almost cried at this, it's so sad! Really long film but I didn't get bored of it.
36
The Notebook 2004,  PG-13)
37
Shaun of the Dead 2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
An example of when us British can produce brilliant comedy! A great homage to the zombie-horror genre.
38
Superbad 2007,  R)
Superbad
This film made me laugh a lot, it was packed with hilarious quotes from start to finish, the one that springs to mind most prominently is "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" - "the thing about my back is its located on my cock!"

Definately enjoyable, and nice to see Seth Rogen in another brilliant comedy for 2007.
39
Presto 2008,  G)
Presto
A very enjoyable and funny Pixar short. Definitely worth a watch.
