The best thing I liked about this movie is how it is portrayed and depicted....People who dislike the movie and criticize it because of exaggeration don't exactly appreciate what really happened in history. The point is during that time Persia has dominated over sevral lands. all that's left for them to conquer was Greece. Making Xerxes gigantic and scary simply illustratres that he is powerful and tyrant. In addition, Sparta was marked in history to train their men in their early life in order to defend their city-state in case a war broke out. Those "exaggerated" training scenes are again a depiction that they are fierce and excellent warriors.
For those who haven't watched the movie, watch it you'll start to ponder if the word regret was ever in your dictionary.

Walk the Line 2005,  PG-13)
Walk the Line
At first, I was skeptical in watching this movie because it happened in the past, but after watching it... I began to shift my perception about this kind of movies. What i liked about this movie is complete in package, it has obviously drama, musical, and a little bit of humor. Also the casts were great. Joaquin Phoenix really showed his talent when he suprised me that he can actually sing country music. The same is true with Witherspoon, although I think the tandem is not that click. The one thing that frustrates me in this movie is the silly attempts of Johnny Cash offering a hand in marriage to June Carter. He even indulged in drugs just to get her attention. Why don't he just keep silent and let the woman decide. But, I think that also helped the movie in a way considering the the coldness Cash has endured with his father during his childhood years.
Watch it, cry with it and enjoy it.

The Devil Wears Prada 2006,  PG-13)
The Devil Wears Prada
A must-see movie for those crazy about fashion and the new trend...It has a twist of fashion, drama and generates very important lesson at the end, that no matter how cruel and wretched the world may be, it can not overcome you if you won't let it in, if you won't let it destroy you. The dialogues are somewhat long and boring but definitely adore the plot of the movie beacuse of its unexpected twists and turns. I admired the whole cast especially Meryl Streep. Indeed when she played the role of Miranda, I automatically loved her. I mean she was so good playing the evil and bossy role. Anne Hathaway also proved her maturity and that she could carry big roles and be at line with famous and veteran actors.
Overall, I recommend the movie because of its uniqueness and sophistication and moral value..

Pan's Labyrinth 2006,  R)
Pan's Labyrinth
How can I appreciate the movie if the translations are not complete? Talk about waste of money...I understand the movie that's a fact because at the first part, the translations were complete but later when it was midway, the translations suddenly vanished and intermittently apperaed throughout the movie. I mean come on, if you want your movie to be a hit have a little sympathy for those who can't understand Spanish. It was diificult for me because when I watch movies, I greatly value its small details. The two things that forced me to understand the movie was the emotion of each character and the actual scene happening. I couldn't even understand what Ofelia is retrieveing to that pawn and her reason why. And I undeniably can't understand the relationship between her fantasy adventure and the civil war.
If only the translations were complete, I could have liked and enjoyed the movie. I don't mean to offend those foreign films, I only want them to empathize and consider the diverseness of each country.

The Holiday 2006,  PG-13)
The Holiday
Swing fling and home swap. These are the words descrbing the movie. But it's interseting in the sense that...you couldn't expect what will happen next except for the big clue on the movie poster. But you can't exactly guess the true outcome of the movie, like if the main casts will live happily ever after or will they get married then after, if you won't finish the movie. That's what makes it intruiging and fun to watch. The tandem was also ok. Jude Law and cameron Diaz showed the romantic and sympathetic type while Jack Black and Kate Winslet had that humrous but still romantic way of attraction.
I didn't actually adored the movie but I had fun watching it. I recommend it for those who had value love and believes in second chances.

Shrek the Third 2007,  PG)
Shrek the Third
Hahaha. What can I say, another thumbs up for Shrek. It's so funny that even serious parts are funny...Although, I would still prefer to watch the 2nd sequel. Nevertheless, it was still worthwhile to watch. The additional characters were profiundly hilarious so as with the veteran, especially puss, donkey and Shrek's "sub"friends. On the other hand, the plot was very predictable because maybe of the trailers revealing several scenes or the high expectation of viewers and many Shrek adoring fans. The other thing I can comment is the length and the shortness of the movie. If Chris could have at added 20 min to the movie or a little extra scene at the end, it would have elongated my guffaw and satisfied me more.
It was still a great movie though and I have a gut feeling that it will once again win Best Animated Film in the Academy Awards.

Spider-Man 3 2007,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 3
Talk about the infamous and the most-waited installment of Spiderman. The plot is great but too much scene is going on...The balck suit is cool though. The only thing that excites me are the fighting scenes but that too was a bit disappointing beacuse when the tension has began to rise and has almost reach the climax, it suddenly disintegrates because normal, boring dialogue scene occured giving you that anti-climactic feeling which obviously would frustrate you. The only fight scene which was thrilling and worthwhile was the last part and I tell you it's fantastic, mouth-opening and eye-fixing. Other than that, I really have no grand comments about the third and last installment of Spiderman except that eventhough some people hate it, it was still a big hit.

The Greatest Game Ever Played 2005,  PG)
The Greatest Game Ever Played
Golf anyone? What's really interesting about this movie is that my eyes are glued to the sceen as if it's hypnotizing me or something..This was absolutely my favorite among all the sports-film I've watched. Plus, the director is also my favorite. The movie was really good beacuse it has that inspiring and successful theme which makes you high-spirited after watching it. In addition, it also carries a notion especially for those stereotypes that eventhough one is still an amatuer it does not denote that they have no place in world of elite and professionals. Anyone could win and rise to the top if he is dedicated, passionate and willfull.
The plot was great, the setting was appropriate and gives you that old 1900's feeling and the characters were awesome. And Shia.. oh I really envy that guy. He is young, fresh and talented. Now he is rising to the top and was often compared to some big stars.
What can I say more. I've said just everything about this movie. Just watch ut and find out for yourselves.

Dreamgirls 2006,  PG-13)
Dreamgirls
I was very confused if I should watch this movie when it first premiered on the big screen because my expectation were high... I was afraid that it would just annoy me that another movie I hoped to be good was a fiasco. But it proved me wrong, when I watched it the next day. My eyes and ears were enthralled especially during the musical portion. All the casts, the setting, the plot and other elements were AMAZING. The casts were absolutely fantastic and perfectly portrayed their character. The first part of the movie a blast which gave me that I-don't-want-to-go-to-the-lavatory instinct because maybe I would miss a scene. The musical was an immense aspect to the movie. It gave life, dpicted emotion and even coloquially versed some dialogues.
Dreamgirls was one of the best movies I watched so far in 2007. Watch it and I assure you that you won't regeret it. If you will, we'll it's not my problem anymore but nevertheless watch it!

Mean Girls 2004,  PG-13)
Mean Girls
Does burn book ring a bell? This movie popularized it and depicted a whole reality... of truth about the so-called high school culture everyone must face. This doesn't mean that it only applies to American girls considering it's an American movie. It is also present in different parts of the world as long as there's jealousy, hatred and fiddlestick gossip between teenagers no matter what culture you're in.
what I liked about this movie is that it speaks and gives a decent and noble lesson in the end. And at the same time, it topples it with humor and exaggeration. You will laugh but then you will realize afterwards that it's true as. I would admit that I find it overexaggerated but it doesn't really peeved me.
Lindsay Lohan decided to try this movie and deviate from her shell which was more on family and crazy movies. In the end it paid off. Many liked it, Others may loathe it because of it stupidity and unconvincing plot but don't be bothered by their comments and critiques. So what are you waiting for, grab a copy and start laughing.

School of Rock 2003,  PG-13)
School of Rock
I'm not really a jack Black fan but it differed in this movie beacuse there was a touch of.... children and a collosal amount of awesome rock, headbangs and many cool scenes. The movie has that slogan about kid-power and that their abilities and talent can shine with only a little push. However in the movie, it was not that simple. Jack Black manipulated the children just to fulfill his dreams of creating a band that will rise to the top. It's a nice thing because he has awakened their desire for music but on the other hand, it a little bit harsh and manipulative because they were just innocent little kids.It was fun to watch especially the progress of the kids and most importantly the end part where they had to rock it out.
Overall, I recommend the movie beacuse of its freshness and originality.

Music and Lyrics 2007,  PG-13)
Music and Lyrics
It's another predictable movie not just with the reviews and posters but also with the plot.... But it's a cute movie considering the late 70's groove and how Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore got involved. I didn't actually jumped up and down my seat because as i've said it's predictable. Nevertheless, the duration was appropriate and it didn't past the point wherein it became exaggerated. I also absolutely loved their song. I think it was emotional and at the same time provoked a message suited for the theme of the movie.
Many loved the it and left the movie house with a smile on their face and things to talk about some scenes in the movie.
