I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I am on my Amanda Bynes movie review kick, so all the photos from the movies will be of Amanda. I am biased. I saw this movie at the theater opening weekend and I fell in love. I hated the original movie, but as a musical this movie was brought to life for me. All the songs are catchy and by the second time you seem to already know them. I went to the theater to see it about 5 times. Once the DVD came out, that weekend we watched it another 5 times. This has become one of my all time favorite movies. All the cast are perfect in there parts and would not change any of them. And who knew Amanda could sing.
Dude... I cry during this movie everytime I see it. Just bought it on DVD and I love it. It is fun to look back and see all the big hair on the girls which is a total 80's thing. But no matter how dated the movie looks, the story is still the same. Geek loves the popular figures out a way to become popular and fails miserably, but ultimately gets the girl in the end and lives happily ever after. This is a total chic flick... A+ in my book.
You can not go into this movie expecting it to have anything to do with the book, becuase it is so far from it... it is basically not based on the book. Personally I loved this movie and went to the theater like 10 times to see it. Must of the times I was alone with no one else in the theater. I think Rosie O made this movie soooooo much. Without her, it would have been a bit on the dull side. I really need to buy this movie, it would make me happy. It was because of this movie that I read the book to see the differences because I heard the Anne Rice did not like what they did to it. I can see why, but I don't think it would have translated well to film without the comedy sidekicks.
Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon work very well together on The Banger Sisters as opposites. Goldie is the still rebellious free-spirit and Susan is the uptight conformed housewife who in their youth used to be groupies for rock bands in the 60's. Their chemistry works throughout the movie because they truly remind you of how you picture them in real life. Plus, it reminds me of my life in way. Me and my friends used to chase the celebrities in the 80's and 90's, I have moved on and my friends really haven't.
The daughters in the movie were really good, Erika Christensen and Eva Amari (Susan's real life daughter). I can't really complain about the movie much, except for the storyline between Goldie and her hitchhicker friend, but you can tell it was needed bring the two girls together. Over all, this is a good fun comedy without the slapstick.
This was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. So far best picture of 2008 for me. I am not a huge action fan in general, but it wasn't a blast everything up movie either. The movie had a great story behind it, each of the characters were well defined and the movie was personable from the start. It had enough humor in it to make the movie down to earth without going overboard and had a twist to the movie that I was not expecting. It was far better than expected, I almost did not go to the advanced preview.
This is in my top films. Great cast and great story. And Alicia Silverstone is just so darn cute in this movie. It was awesome concept that Brendan was perfect for this role, you could really feel how innocent the character was about the outside world. The pairing up of Alicia and Brendan was a great choice, they worked will off each other.
I really wish I could watch all of the movies again that I am going to give a good review too, especially this one since it has been a long time since I have seen it. I wonder if my dad has this on dvd, but Elisabeth may kill me if she has to sit through this again. I grew up on Babs, but will not say I am a Babs fan. I love the music in this movie and love to sing a long plain and simple. I guess I could get the same experience if I just by the soundtrack. Over all, I think it is a good movie and enjoy it everytime I watch it. But please over look Babs bad perm job.
I figured that I would start a my review process with all my favorites. So, I am starting with Drew Barrymore, who has been my top favorite actress since Poison Ivy. Drew is an incredible actress and since here come back has worked hard to stay clean and release good fun movies, like Never Been Kissed.
Never Been Kissed is the perfect romantic comedy in my book. It has all the ingredients for a classic. Not only does this movie make you happy, but it makes you cry and even makes you hate Jessica Alba, which is hard to do since she is so hot (not in this movie though). Drew is cute in this movie (not Charlie's Angels sexy) which helps identify with her character. She was girl who was a nerd in school (which we get to see her in braces) who grows up to be a newspaper writer and goes undercover in a high school to get close to the kids of today. During the movie, we get to see her make fun of herself with just the right amount of slapstick. She has to make friends with the "cool kids" even though she automatically gravitates to the "nerds", falls in love, breaks his heart and even gets high for the first time.
Does it end up with a happy ending for the people who haven't since it? HELLO? It would be a drama if she didn't. Like I said, the perfect romantic comedy.
This is one of my favorite movies of all times. I guess it reminds me of me. Working on my latin music magazine, becoming friends with the celebrities and ruining your life in the process. I can relate to it well. it is a great story and the acting is awesome. Kate Hudson was perfect in her role. Made me respect her so much more after this.
