Big Trouble in Little China 1986,  PG-13)
Big Trouble in Little China
The 80's. Back when Kurt Russell was funny and John Carpenter could direct. The movie is just a blast from start to finish with so many unexpected twists and turns along the way. I love all the daft baddies and the outrageous plot. It's pure entertainment, and I love it.
2
Pulp Fiction 1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction
What can you say about Pulp Fiction that hasn't been said. I know "It's not as good as Rocky 3". There I said it, case closed.
3
Heat 1995,  R)
Heat
I love this movie. Heat is an excellent example of a director making a movie with no one standing in his way. It's a thrilling 3 hour journey, with amazing performances from Pacino, Deniro and Kilmer, awesome cinematography and dialogue, and countless memorable moments. Heat is simply mind blowing, and highly recommended.

Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West) 1968,  PG-13)
Once Upon a Time in the West (C'era una volta il West)
Sergio Leone's masterpiece is breathtaking from start to finish. It's full of great characters especially Henry Fonda's baddie, who is so evil, that he makes you want to step into the screen and kill him yourself.
5
Léon (The Professional) 1994,  R)
Léon (The Professional)
I can't say anything bad about this movie. Its got it all and more. Beautifully directed by the great Luc Besson and the chemistry between the 2 leads is remarkable
6
Magnolia 1999,  R)
Magnolia
A wonderful movie. The entire cast are flawless, and the direction and writing from P.T.Anderson is some of the best I've seen. A definite must see.
7
The Warriors 1979,  R)
The Warriors
I love this movie. Its tense, exciting, full of great action and characters. I hope they don't remake it, as it's authenticity is what makes it so great.
8
The Godfather, Part II 1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II
One of the all time best movies and one of those few movies that are better than it's original. Each time you watch it you feel educated and amazed by the quality of it's cast and director.
9
Kill Bill: Volume 1 2003,  R)
Kill Bill: Volume 1
Fresh and exciting. Tarantino never disappoints.
10
Rocky III 1982,  PG)
Rocky III
Greatest movie of all time. ROCKY! ROCKY! ROCKY!
11
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long) 2003,  PG-13)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long)
I love epic martial arts movies. Beautifully shot and acted. I loved the chemistry between the 3 leads. The sword fight at the dojo was the highlight for me.
12
Nikita (La Femme Nikita) 1990,  R)
Nikita (La Femme Nikita)
Luc Besson is one of my favourite directors and this is one of his finest. With a great plot, action scenes, and powerful performances. You will want to watch it again and again.
13
The Last of the Mohicans 1992,  R)
The Last of the Mohicans
Excellent movie. The beautiful landscapes, and stirring soundtrack really grab you from the start, and the stunning performances make it a memorable experience.
14
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
My favourite from the trilogy. The Empire Strikes Back has a lot stronger storyline than the first, and there's a lot more action and character development to revel in. The dark themes and melodrama set it apart from the rest of the trilogy. The thrilling lightsaber fights are exciting, and the action in general is a lot more polished and carefully orchestrated, I'm almost envious of those who were around at the time of it's release, as I often fell I would have felt the impact of it's shocking revelation and dramatic ending a lot harder if I had to wait three more years for The Return Of The Jedi, rather than reaching into the boxset for the next installment. Empire's the best of the best in my opinion, and is an awesome experience each time I watch it.
15
Smokey and the Bandit 1977,  PG)
Smokey and the Bandit
Great fun. Burt Reynolds is wonderful as the bandit and Jackie Gleason is hilarious as his nemesis.
16
Dog Day Afternoon 1975,  R)
Dog Day Afternoon
Al Pacino is great in this. Probably my favourite performance. Try to see it without reading the back of the DVD.
17
Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
With Nortan's innocence and Pitt's charisma, the movie blends itself into a great dark comedy.
18
First Blood (Rambo: First Blood) 1982,  R)
First Blood (Rambo: First Blood)
First Blood is a gripping, entertaining movie that delivers pure action. What makes it such a great movie for me, is that it's surprisenly very well acted by Stallone, and the great action scenes and believable story make it both memorable, and great to watch again and again.
19
The Color of Money 1986,  R)
The Color of Money
This is one of my favourite Scorsese movies. I love how it's directed through the scummy streets of America and that the actors all have a good chemistry and actually play themselves. Although I've seen the Hustler which was a good insight, I thought it was a bit dull.
20
Miami Vice 2006,  R)
Miami Vice
Excellent movie. True fans of the TV series will fully appreciate this movie, even though the characters are not wearing bright pink T-shirts and shooting everything in sight. Shot in the same style as director Michael Mann's earlier movie Collateral, Miami Vice is very stylishly put together. I loved the story, particularly the scenes with Gong Li and Colin Farrell, and the action scenes are skilfully shot with an awesome opening scene, and an excellent shot out at the end. I also have to mention that the soundtrack to this movie is amazing, and it really adds to the casts chemistry, and strong performances
21
Avatar 2009,  PG-13)
Avatar
Excellent. Avatar is an awesome spectacle from director James Cameron. Titanic aside, I've loved his movies, and AVATAR is an exceptional achievement. The story has been done before, and the dialogue is a little too military clichà (C)d, but those are 2 minor flaws in this wonderful Sci-Fi adventure. It's full of great characters, Stephen Lang in particular stole the show as the sadistic army colonel, and it was great to see Sigourney Weaver back in the genre that catapulted her to fame. But it was the stunning animation that set it apart from anything else. The landscapes, all the Na'vi characters and animals, and the battle scenes, were jaw dropping. AVATAR is a spellbinding experience that I'll be given multiple viewings.
22
Diva 1981,  R)
Diva
This was the first foreign language movie I seen. I remember as a 12 year old being captivated by the style and cinematography of the director. The story is tense and exciting and the characters are so rich, that they almost pop out of the screen.
23
Back to the Future 1985,  PG)
Back to the Future
One of my favourites from the 80's.
24
RoboCop 1987,  R)
RoboCop
Don't let the title fool you, this is an excellent movie. I love how Verhoeven mixes gruesome violence with satire in his movies. I was also surprised how fresh it still looked after 20 years.
25
Aliens 1986,  R)
Aliens
I prefer this to the original. I love the way Cameron mixes it up, action being at the forefront.
