Pokemon the First Movie - Mewtwo vs. Mew 1999,  G)
Pokemon the First Movie - Mewtwo vs. Mew
The first, probably not the best, but definately the most profound. A wonderful movie about tolerance.
2
The Butterfly Effect 2004,  R)
The Butterfly Effect
Everyone rags on Mr. Kutcher, but he did a wonderful job in this movie, playing a character so deep as to drive the movie home. At least in the director's cut. This movie is so sad, so tragic, and so beautiful. I like the title. The butterfly effect describes the concepts in the movie, but it also brings up another image, that of a delicate butterfly's wings, so easily damaged...
3
The Transformers - The Movie 1986,  PG)
The Transformers - The Movie
I'm not going to try to be intelligent about this one. It's all nostalgia... but boy are the characters loveable! Plus, a few scenes ask some serious questions, I think, about just what life is.
4
Spider-Man 2002,  PG-13)
Spider-Man
A great reimagining of a greater hero.
5
Shrek 2 2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
Better than than the original.
6
Pokemon - Mewtwo Returns 1997,  Unrated)
Pokemon - Mewtwo Returns
Even more powerful than its predacessor, a true sequel in terms of plot and theme to the first Movie. It is a story of finding one'se self, and it brings the first movie's themes full-circle. I just wish they'd make a third Mewtwo story!
7
The Skeleton Key 2005,  PG-13)
8
The Sixth Sense 1999,  PG-13)
9
Kill Bill: Volume 1 2003,  R)
10
Star Trek - First Contact 1996,  PG-13)
11
Independence Day 1996,  PG-13)
Independence Day
One of the best nationalist movies, as well as alien invasion flicks, EVER.
12
Big Fish 2004,  PG-13)
13
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
It's so quirky and fun and ultimately real. An excellent film with a powerful message!
14
Pokémon 4Ever 2002,  G)
Pokémon 4Ever
One of the richest Pokemon movies yet, and, in terms of the translation and transformation into the English version, probably the best.
15
Secret Window 2004,  PG-13)
Secret Window
I haven't read the original story but this movie is amazing. Johnny Depp once again shows us someone else's head from the inside out, and the visuals are amazing!
16
The Last Samurai 2003,  R)
17
Pokemon - Destiny Deoxys 2005,  Unrated)
Pokemon - Destiny Deoxys
This is an excellent story. It doesn't quite have the emotional punch of Movies 1 and 8 or the coherency of Movie 4, but it comes about as close to incorporating both as one can when trying to blend the two. Plus, I swear to you there's a missingno cameo.
18
The Stepford Wives 2004,  PG-13)
The Stepford Wives
Horror/comedy at its best! So funny! It's such an interesting commentary on modern feminism too.
19
Schindler's List 1993,  R)
Schindler's List
The best movie in the world. Ever.
20
Dogma 1999,  R)
Dogma
The best movie in the world. It's got comedy, it's got a profound message about the nature of life, and best of all, it's got Jay and Silent Bob. How can you go wrong?
21
2001: A Space Odyssey 1968,  G)
2001: A Space Odyssey
Confusing. Touching. Literally painful at some parts. But HAL makes it so worth it. Man, Act Three is absolutely beautiful. HAL!!!!
22
Unbreakable 2000,  PG-13)
Unbreakable
The ultimate superhero movie.
23
Mr. Brooks 2007,  R)
Mr. Brooks
It's like a classic family drama, well-played on the formula... except the dad's a serial killer. It's scary, funny, and creepy all at once. One of the best movies ever.
24
Dark City 1998,  R)
Dark City
So many questions. So few answers. And Kiefer Sutherland. Yay!
25
Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew 2006,  Unrated)
Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew
If only Mewtwo had been given the sympathy and closure that Lucario had, then I might like his movie better as I do his character. Great plot, Ash's character arc is wonderful, and it's so beautiful.
26
Identity 2003,  R)
Identity
Best horror movie either. Scared the crap outta me.
27
The Fifth Element 1997,  PG-13)
The Fifth Element
A great love story, a great dystopian scifi story, and a great action movie, all rolled into one. Now if only what's-her-name would put on a sweater and eat something.
28
Shaun of the Dead 2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
Everything you ever loved about romantic comedy and "dude comedies," but with an added touch of horror!
29
28 Days Later 2002,  R)
28 Days Later
In a world invaded by zombies, there are much scarier things. One of the best social commentaries of the decade!
30
Men in Black 1997,  PG-13)
Men in Black
A hilarious comedy, but with some interesting themes and ideas. My favorite TV show seems to be an homage to this movie as well, which is interesting and I think says something about its value.
31
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
Philosophy, deep questions, a wonderful cast, and lots of action. You can't go wrong.
32
The Covenant 2006,  PG-13)
The Covenant
An excellent urban fantasy mystery, although not quite the horror film it's touted to be.
33
Sin City 2005,  R)
Sin City
Absolutely beautiful. Compelling characters, wonderful violence, and beautiful style.
34
The Dark Knight 2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
Brilliantly done, well acted, and all around wonderful. Terrified me! My only gripe is that it was just too much of a downer. Oh Harvey. :(
35
Get Smart 2008,  PG-13)
36
Gran Torino 2008,  R)
37
Alvin and the Chipmunks 2007,  PG)
Alvin and the Chipmunks
It's SOOO CUTE! And funny. Lee falls just a little bit flat on the "ALLLLLLLLLLVIIIIIN" though.
