Superman Returns was flat out awesome and left me wanting to fly around and save the world as well. As a huge Superman fan, I was skeptical at first and wasn't sure what to expect. I was not disappointed however, and I thought the performances were great sans Bosworth (she was fair). Reading the Superman comics, he has internal struggles that are not seen in the other Superman movies or cartoons, and this movie touched on those. This movie supposedly follows the first two Superman movies with Reeves so if you hadn't seen those two, some parts may confuse you a tad. I didn't like the fact that Superman had a son though, and it still does not make sense to me even after watching Superman II (Donner or Lester), but it didn't bother me too much and I treated it like the Elseworlds comics. It was worth paying the money to see it in I-Max though, as the visuals were great.
One of my all-time favorite movies. Brilliant writing, hilarious comedy, and great acting. Everything ties in like an episode of Seinfeld, and the way it is shot, plus all the action, makes it jawsome.
One of my all time favorites and one of the best comedies ever made! Don't get confused by Carrey being on the cover... its all about Oedekerk. Absolutely hilarious and I don't know how, since it is basically a guy going off on all the stuff he hates for the whole movie.
This movie gets an extra bump up in the ratings as I have just bought and watched the Director's Cut. MUCH BETTER. First, the subtitles are immensely better, and the translation is perfect and clean, where as in the film released in theaters it was not at all. Also, even though the Director's Cut is 40 min longer... it seems much better put together, everything transitions smoothly, and a lot of story is put in and it helps make everything make more sense. His relationship with the blind woman is explored much more, and makes it far more meaningful, where as in the previous version, it almost seems like she is thrown in there for no reason at all. Also, apparently a lot of the violence and blood were edited out of the other version, as now with the new one, you can see blood going everywhere. Why the theater version was cut down so much I'll never know, but the Director's Cut is great!
Crash is an all time favorite and it goes where you aren't supposed to go in society, and shows you basically... real life. There are parts in this movie that take your breath away and you feel so close with the characters that their emotion becomes your emotion. No matter how many times I see it, it gives me that same feeling. This movie can take a lot out of you though, but it is still superb and I highly recommend it.
The best Bond movie ever made so far in my mind... the action is great, and it is a great prequel to the other Bond movies, and also a fine job done of rebooting the franchise. Daniel Craig doesn't need dark hair to be Bond, as he kicks ass just the same, if not more. A move violent, and reckless Bond, but still has the charm... I like this version of James the most.
Loved it when I was a kid watching it every Passover. It's just as good now, with one of the best soundtracks ever recorded for a movie, and Charlton Heston being ridiculously manly and awesome as Moses. Yul Brynner is great as Ramses, and the special effects are still pretty decent today, especially the parting of the Red Sea. The ultimate classic movie from the days when movie actors were real men. It is so powerful and moving, DeMille is a true genius.
After watching the Superman II that was released to theaters (even though it made everyone who worked on the film pissed) I am so angry that Donner was ever fired (for some tabloid crap) and was never able to finish completing this film. I know if he had the chance to actually finish it, it would have been one of the greatest if not the greatest superhero movie ever. And who knows, maybe it is without finishing it. But it is superior to the regular Superman II in so many ways, starting with Lois and Non not being complete morons. Lois is actually pretty tricky, and Non just destroys things, which he should... given the name Non The Destroyer. General Zod is actually bad-ass and even decides to use our weak human weapons against us to kill and maim. You can't beat that. The ending is a bit off, as it was never completed, and you can tell Donner was planning on adding a few more scenes to make everything run smoothly. Far better than Lester's version though.
Awesome movie. I hope the next Superman movie has this much action in it. Doomsday is awesome, Bad Superman is awesome, great fight scenes. It's not everyday that you see tons of people dying in cartoons, but thats what you get. It could have been a bit longer, with more fighting, but they got right to the point. Best fighting in a cartoon I've ever seen.
Best movie of the year, and after seeing it 3 times... it keeps getting better. Everything about it is simply amazing, and the only bad thing about it is that it didn't really happen. Newest addition to my short list of all time favorites. Great lines and delivery from Pitt and a great job by Waltz playing the villain.
