There Will Be Blood
amazing character study, daniel day-lewis blew it out of the water for me. the word greed takes on a whole new meaning. i would however like to nit pick a bit because while i was blown away by this film i don't think it was seamless or flawless as most people have said. i don't want to spoil it for anyone so i will keep my qualms to myself but if anyone who has seen it wants to dissect just hit me up
51
No Country for Old Men 2007,  R)
No Country for Old Men
oh my god this film is amazing. it grabs your gut from the moment it opens and it still hasn't let go of mine. not a moment was wasted in this film. javier bardem is mind blowing as one of the scariest and subdued villains i've seen in a long time. the dialogue is impeccable. this is by far one of the best films i've seen this year. it is chilling and terrifying in a beautifully simplistic way. the lack of music definitely added to the element of suspense and the unconventional ending made it all the more poignant and thought provoking. it's definitely one of those films i would need to see again to get a firmer grasp on because it is so complex. this film reminded me why i love films.

after seeing this a second time i think i understood it so much more and really adored this film and the story. it manages to express the most basic of human needs and desires that seem to be overlooked and disregarded in the hustle of modern living and is a reminder that emotional support is the under belly of expressing your love and compassion to your fellow man. oh yeah and gosling was just fucking amazing.
