The verbal interplay between the Avengers, particularly Tony Stark and, surprisingly, given the turbulent history of the Hulk on the big screen, Bruce Banner, is the highlight of Whedon's enjoyable blockbuster, although Loki wins the contest for the best one-liner with his gasp-inducing belittlement of Black Widow.

Hans Kloss, a Polish double agent on the hunt for Nazi treasure during and also some years after WWII, is portrayed as an oddly serious pastiche of James Bond and Indiana Jones in this otherwise ridiculous adaptation of a popular TV series, although a hilarious gun turret scene does almost make it worthwhile.
