1	Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004, R) The most original screenplay ever written in my opinion, that no one other than Charlie Kaufman could have came up with.
2	Mulholland Drive 2001, R) No way to describe this film. Completely original and feels like you are dreaming. Can't even be categorized into a genre. Every time I watch it, I catch something new, which is the case with most of David Lynch's films, but that's why you just want to keep watching them constantly.
3	There Will Be Blood 2007, R) P.T. Anderon's masterpiece. Daniel-Day Lewis at his best. Has all of the elements a perfect film should have.
4	Garden State 2004, R) Zach Braff shows us that not only can he act, but he also manages to master directing and screenwriting as well. Quarky girl falls for boy numbed by anti-depressants for a good portion of his life, on a journey of self-discovery as he returns home to the Garden State for the first time in nine years for his mother's funeral.
5	Cool Hand Luke 1967, PG) "Cool hand Luke", as his fellow inmates call him, will stop it nothing to escape prison. An early film in Paul Newman's acting career and probably his most enjoyable performance to watch.
6	Magnolia 1999, R) Unbelievable screenplay, and a cast ensemble that works so well together you forget that actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman and Tom Cruise are not actually the characters they are portraying. An ending that is completely unexpected, and an array of great lines and amazing dialogue all throughout the film.
7	The Departed 2006, R) DiCaprio shows us how much talent, passion, rage and diversity he posseses in this film. A story about losing identity and how unreliable and untrustworthy people can be. A story of rookies and undercover cops, the corrupted and the honorable. Who you are in one environment is not necessarily who you are in another environment, either by duty or by choice, for money or for protection or information.
8	Lost Highway 1997, R)
9	The Third Man 1949, Unrated) Guest arrives to find that his host and long-term friend is dead. Carol Reed delivers a suspenseful, timeless mystery of the film noir genre.
10	No Country for Old Men 2007, R) Best Coen brothers film. Perfect adaption of Cormac McCarthy's perfect novel. Nothing unnecessary, keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Javier Bardem portrays a calmly disturbing and perfect villain.
11	The Truman Show 1998, PG) I can keep watching this movie over and over again. Truman is such a complex character. From cutting out characteristics of women from magazines and pasting them together to create a resemblence of what a girl who made him once feel passion looked like, to talking to his bathroom mirror, to his obsession with Fiji and his desire to travel, Truman never seizes to be interesting throughout the film..... all while he has no idea his entire life has been scripted for television and his every move is filmed on a 24-hour channel. One of Jim Carrey's best performances.
12	Memento 2000, R) Christopher Nolan delivers us a story of a man who lives day to day with his memory, piecing together the clues of his wife's death, which is the last thing he remembers, based on notes and tattoos of evidence on his body.
13	Dogma 1999, R) A perfect and witty comedy delivered by the genius of Kevin Smith that goes so much deeper than most viewers realize.
14	Breathless (À bout de souffle) (By a Tether) 1960, Unrated) Most perfect and twisted love story ever written. Jean-Luc Godard's best film by far.
15	Before the Devil Knows You're Dead 2007, R) I love the cast (especially Hoffman and Tomei) and the plot (two desperate adults robbing their parents' mom-and-pop jewelry store), as well as everything down to the order that the scenes are shown on the screen being organized perfectly.
16	The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) 1966, R) The only Sergio Leone film or Western in general that keeps me interested the entire time. A true classic.
17	The Royal Tenenbaums 2002, R) First West Anderson film I had ever seen, and probably my favorite. The characters are so complex and the cast ensemble works together so well you almost can't believe the Tenenbaums aren't a real family. Luke Wilson and Gwenyth Paltrow's best perfomances in my opinion.
18	Lost In Translation 2003, R) Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson have perfect on-screen chemistry as they portray two characters going through a strange time in their lives, who both happen to be in Tokyo for different reasons and spark a life-changing friendship and encounter.
19	Fargo 1996, R) Maybe my favorite film by the Coen brothers. Frances McDormand's best performance by far. An amazing dark comedy.
20	Reservoir Dogs 1992, R) Quentin Tarantino's rookie work, and probably his best film. Fantastic robbery scenes, hilarious characters, great dialogue, an unforgettable ending.
21	Seven (Se7en) 1995, R) An early Fincher film, and an amazing use of the seven deadly sins in regards to the plot. Nothing is ever predictable or too unbelievable, but still maintains originality and authenticity, all down to the very end.
22	Bottle Rocket 1996, R) Wes Anderson's debut. Hilarious dialoge if you have a certain sense of humor. You either love Anderson's humor or you find it dry and uncomprehensive. Concepts are original and characters never seize to be entertaining. Definitely for any fan of Anderson's other films.
23	The Science of Sleep 2006, R) Gondry's display of Stephane's dreams are visually amazing. Great screenplay.
24	Drugstore Cowboy 1989, R) My favorite Gus Van Sant film. This film is the perfect translation of what the term junky really means.
25	Factotum 2005, R) An underrated film. Definitely one of Matt Dillon's better perfomances as he portrays Henry Chinaski (who is modeled after the writer and poet Charles Bukowski, my favorite writer of all time).
26	The Godfather 1972, R) There aren't words to describe Coppola's mafia masterpiece.
27	The Godfather, Part II 1974, R) The best sequel ever made, and probably one of the overall best movies as far as classics are concerned.
28	The Rules of Attraction 2002, R) A perfect adaption of Bret Easton Ellis' novel. It leaves out some things obviously, but it claimed the novel's context and made it into its own unique and edgy story.
29	Videodrome 1983, R) Favorite Cronenberg film. Local television channel that plays uncensored, controversial videos other channels would never play, and eventually gets some material that makes for a crazy and original plot twist.
30	Le Scaphandre et le Papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) 2007, PG-13) Former Elle editor-in-chief Bauby sits functionless and paralyzed in every way possible, except for one of his eyes which you see much of the movie out of, and not only does it look and feel believable, but you feel his pain and disability just by watching. A remarkable film, based on a true story.
31	Little Miss Sunshine 2006, R) A feel-good, hilarious film that will unexpectedly knock you off your feet. Characters that stick with you.
32	Stranger Than Paradise 1984, R) Jim Jarmusch's best film. Great story about a journey of sorts. Feels like a really long short film. The fact that it was in black and white actually worked as an element that made the film better.
33	Metropolis 1927, PG-13) Fritz Lang's depiction of the future based on if things continued to keep going on the way they were during his time. Great classic sci-fi film, and a vision far beyond its time.
34	Punch-Drunk Love 2002, R) Adam Sandler's best performance hands down. From the talented screenwriting/directing of Paul Thomas Anderson. The character Barry is so complex it's ridiculous, if you pay attention to everything the film has to offer. A small-business owner hits a peak and crazy stage of his life after he finds a harmonium on the street, meets a woman, and makes a phone call, and all of those factors work to change his personality as well as his life.
35	Chasing Amy 1997, R) The comedic genius of Kevin Smith. Male comic book artist meets female comic book artist, who basically seems like the perfect woman and the woman of his dreams... only to find out that she is a lesbian.
36	Casablanca 1942, PG) One of the best films ever made. Set in Africa during World War II where an American has an encounter with a woman he formerly had a romance with and the story begins to unravel from there.
37	Cidade de Deus (City of God) 2002, R) Amazing story that actually makes you appreciate living in a relatively safe country. Kids/teens in gangs, drug-selling, theft, death. Set in the 1970's and 80's.
38	Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 1998, R) Great adaption of Hunter S. Thompson's semi-autobiographical journalistic journey, filled with more drugs than you could ever imagine in the trunk of a car. Johnny Depp does a great job of playing Raoul Duke, who is supposed to be modeled after Hunter S. Thompson. A very psychadelic journey into Vegas.
39	Blue Velvet 1986, R) Proves that some places aren't as nice as they seem once you dig beneath the surface, and sometimes you find the most unexpected and disturbing things. A great David Lynch film.
40	The Dark Knight 2008, PG-13) Heath Ledger's best performance by far, finally earning him the recognition for his talent that much of his career as an actor has deserved. Nolan succeeds in directing the first super hero film to successfully be realistically accurate, and still entertaining. Not just a great film adaption of a comic book, but a memorable crime film in general. One of the best beginnings to a film I have ever seen. Gotham City at its best.
41	Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai) 1954, Unrated) Definitely the best Japanese film I've ever seen. Seven unemployed samurai hired by a village in times of war crises, who not only help defend the people but teach them methods to defend themselves.
42	The Seventh Seal (Det Sjunde inseglet) 1957, Unrated) The first and best Ingmar Bergman film I've seen. A knight from the crusades challenges Death to a game of chess for his life when approached and told that it is his time to die.

I watch the film sometimes just to see him act.

149	Stranger Than Fiction 2006, PG-13) Harold Crick realizes that his life is a story written by a woman, and he consults a writer about what he should do when, in her narration, she announces that he is going to die. A story of how to embrace life.
150	Marie Antoinette 2006, PG-13) Vibrant colors and costumes. Amazing music. An easy-to-follow explanation of a significant historical event.
151	The Virgin Suicides 1999, R) Great story about a family of sisters in the 70's and their parents and how they've been shaken by the plague of suicide, and the events and explanations around it.
152	Dazed and Confused 1993, R) Always a fun, hilarious film to watch.
153	Vertigo 1958, PG) Best Alfred Hitchcock film in my opinion. Detective who literally suffers from cases of having vertigo, spying on a woman who he eventually becomes obsessed with.

160	Amadeus 1984, PG) Not only the music is amazing, but the actor who plays Mozart is entertaining to watch down to his laugh. An all-around great film by Milos Forman, and a great story in general. Based on a play by Peter Shaffer, who is probably one of the greatest playwrights ever.

162	Raging Bull 1980, R) De Niro and Scorsese show us what a man is capable of becoming when his rage takes over his life. The story of Jake La Motta.
163	The Usual Suspects 1995, R) One of the best and most unpredictable endings I have ever seen.
164	American History X 1998, R) Showing us the hatred groups such as neo-nazis are capable of possessing when they grow up in that environment, how it can ruin lives, and how someone can surpass brainwash to grow into a new person once they realize that ultimately people are all the same.
165	Adaptation 2002, R) Charlie Kaufman's writer's block resulting in something wonderful.
166	Primal Fear 1996, R) An early film for Edward Norton where he truly shows his ability to convincingly portay a darker character with a psychological disorder.
167	The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 1948, Unrated) A great adventure story about finding gold. Great display of acting delivered by Humphrey Bogart.
168	Hotel Rwanda 2004, PG-13) A true story of a man's courage and will to do what is right, risking ones life to save so many others.
169	Spartacus 1960, PG-13) Spartacus vs. the Roman empire. A true Kubrick classic.
170	Perfume: The Story of a Murderer 2006, R) Ben Whishaw at his best. Great plot. Shows what passion is capable of doing.
171	City Lights 1931, G) Displays the comedic and romantic genius of Charlie Chaplin. Talent way beyond the boundaries of his time.
