The best of the Star Wars movies, period. Contains the best plot and action sequences compatible to the best of action/sci-fi flicks.
The surprise and twisted finale, was perhaps one of the best cliffhangers ever made, which, as a child, had to wait three years to find out the conclusion.
By far, better than Episode 1, but not as good as #3. Excellent visuals but too many romantic scenes to be in a 'Star Wars' movie. Cut out the love scenes, than you have an excellent sci-fi epic.
Would have given it a higher rating, but Jar-Jar Binks made an annoying sidekick. Otherwise, Darth Maul is one of the best villians in the Star Wars flicks, period.
Ok, it's really the first Star Wars movie, but in truth, watching it recently, made me realize how slow the first half of the movie really is. Slow moving first half, dropped my rating by 1 star. As well, Mark Hamill's acting is really terrible in this movie. It wasn't until #6, that his acting and character started to show through.
Too many people have been too hard on this move.... I have to say that in terms of story, it was quite strong and it was an excellent continuation of the 'The Godfather' saga. Yes, Sofia Coppola was terrible, but minus the scenes with her and you have one of the best gangster movies ever made.
The conclusion to this movie, is absolutely one of the best that I have ever scene and definitely develops an emotional wallop. It stays with you for a long time, after it's viewing. A great conclusion to a phenomenal series.
A true gangster classic, that warrants repeated viewings. This movie was a box office flop, when released in 1983, but has sinced became a cult classic. Al Pacino should be considered to be 'The greatest American Actor', period. Check out his other classics, The Godfather Trilogy, the near classic Carlito's Way, Donnie Brasco, among other great gangster flicks.
