A League of Their Own 1992,  PG)
A League of Their Own
A strong, heart warming movie. A great view of women in sports in a time where they were merely entertainment. Strong performances by all the actors.
2
A Little Princess 1995,  G)
A Little Princess
A beautiful movie based on the fantastic book. The actors are wonderful and the movie should be a favorite of all. Slightly defers from the book, which could be annoying for some longtime fans.
3
Alien 1979,  R)
Alien
One of the best horror/thriller/sci-fi movies of all time.
4
Aliens 1986,  R)
Aliens
A very successful sequel to an awesome movie. Ripley shows her truly human side and motherly love in this edition of Alien.
5
Alien Resurrection 1997,  R)
Alien Resurrection
Resurrection is the best of all sequals. Done fantastically with a great story, this is perhaps the best part of the Alien movies.
6
Bend It Like Beckham 2002,  PG-13)
Bend It Like Beckham
Surprisingly good tale from all points. Centered on a group of soccer playing girls in england who overcome odds and work hard to get what they want. A good moral.
7
The Craft 1996,  R)
The Craft
The Craft is one of the best "witch" movies out there. Not because it's very realistic, because it isn't, not because of the plot, which is barely bearable, but for the actors who do a wonderful job the whole way through. There is also one classic line: "I'm flying!..."
8
Cruel Intentions 1999,  R)
Cruel Intentions
Perhaps Sarah Michelle Gellar's only worthwhile role. She plays this part so well. A wonderful movie portraying the hidden characters of teenagers who seem sweet as can be.
9
Dog Soldiers 2002,  R)
Dog Soldiers
Dog Soldiers is the best Werewolf movie out there. A million times better than the hollywood werewolf movies, that's for sure. Witty, sometimes hilarious, and fucking scary.
10
Donnie Darko 2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
One of the best movies of our time. Donnie will suck you in and hold you long after the end credits have rolled. A real psychological film.
11
Ella Enchanted 2004,  PG)
Ella Enchanted
Anne Hathaway in her best film yet. Funny and cute this movie has it all. Star performances from all involved and plenty of spoof gags on your typical medieval drama. A great film.
12
The Emperor's New Groove 2000,  G)
The Emperor's New Groove
Fantastically funny. Every performance is great, the jokes are funny, the morals and sentiments are sweet. An all round classic.
13
Equilibrium 2002,  R)
Equilibrium
The best sci-fi movie out there. This out rates Matrix a thousand times in martial arts, weapons, characters, story, cinematography, and moral. If you saw the Matrix, this movie will blow it right out of the water, looking stylish and controlled the whole way.
14
Ever After: A Cinderella Story 1998,  PG-13)
Ever After: A Cinderella Story
One of the best, if not the best, Cinderella tales out there. Danielle is a strong, empowered woman who doesn't need to be saved by her prince, but will marry him anyway. Thoroughly enjoyable and even believeable. Simply breathtaking at times, and worth watching time and time again.
15
Evolution 2001,  PG-13)
Evolution
Hilarious. Don't take things too seriously, because yes, this is dumb with some gross humor. Watch out for Duchovny's star performance, though, and listen for the dry humor. Also boasts a rather classic line when calling a giant dinosaur like bird...
16
The Fifth Element 1997,  PG-13)
The Fifth Element
This movie should be cult. An often overlooked sci-fi, The Fifth Element has all the elements of a great movie. The plot is hilarious, entertaining, engaging, and all around entrancing. This has humor, romance, drama, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, and cool looking aliens to boot. A real cult classic.
17
Forrest Gump 1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump
Tom Hank's best film ever. A brilliant movie with a heartwarming story and loveable characters. Worth all its credit.
18
Galaxy Quest 1999,  PG)
Galaxy Quest
A wonderful send up of old sci-fi shows and their popularity. Only geeks will get this though, so if you're one of the "trendy" types, then don't bother.
19
G.I. Jane 1997,  R)
G.I. Jane
A powerful feminist movie, for once. A woman must become more like a man to fit in with a Navy SEAL training team, and shows them all the power of women. A great movie, good action, and a convincing story. Probably not one for the men, though, despite the action scenes.
20
Groundhog Day 1993,  PG)
Groundhog Day
A hilarious movie and one of Murray's best.
21
Happy Gilmore 1996,  PG-13)
Happy Gilmore
Sandler's best movie. Still holds some of his slapstick humor but brings more to the party than just that. Worth watching time and time again.
22
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
The first and best of the Harry Potter films.
23
Heart and Souls 1993,  PG-13)
Heart and Souls
A beautiful, romantic tearjerker. Always gets me going. A good one to watch when you're looking for some cheap romance and some nice sentiments.
24
Hook 1991,  PG)
Hook
The tale of a grown up Peter Pan is fantastic and enchanting. Always loveable with superb acting from all involved.
25
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 1989,  PG-13)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Perhaps the best of the Indiana Jones movies. The performances are fantastic and capture humor, drama, and adventure in a realistic way. Always worth a watch.
26
Kiki's Delivery Service 1989,  G)
Kiki's Delivery Service
Kiki's is a beautiful movie. Another Miyazaki classic that any anime fan is required to watch.
27
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The best of the trilogy. Beautiful, captivating, thrilling, and all round wonderful.
28
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The slowest and least captivating of the trilogy but still an outstanding movie.
29
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Hardcore fans will be disappointed by the amount of scenes that were cut out.
30
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 2003,  PG-13)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
A brilliant movie. I saw this at an outdoor cinema and it was magical. Every performance was superb, ever detail carefully done, nothing was overacted or over produced. Simply stunning. A true show of what Russell Crowe can acheive.
31
Matilda 1996,  PG)
Matilda
A wonderful film. Matilda is an enjoyable story and one of the few good Roald Dahl stories that doesn't disintegrate into childish humor. Mara Wilson is the star here, though.
32
The Matrix 1999,  R)
The Matrix
This original is the only worth while out of the three. Fabulous story that will mess with your head hours after the movie ends. A great thinker.
33
Men in Black 1997,  PG-13)
Men in Black
Cult classic though some of the "black" jokes are often overused.
34
Miss Congeniality 2000,  PG-13)
Miss Congeniality
Fantastic fun for anyone of any age.
35
Mortal Kombat 1995,  PG-13)
Mortal Kombat
Truly a classic and a love for any fan of the game. Not genius, but it was not meant to be. A great adaption of the game, kind of campy, but well loved and well deserving.
36
Mrs. Doubtfire 1993,  PG-13)
Mrs. Doubtfire
A huge hit and well worth it. Funny and sweet, great family entertainment.
37
Mulan 1998,  G)
Mulan
One of Disney's best before they began to fall apart with constant sequals.
38
One Crazy Summer 1986,  PG)
One Crazy Summer
If I had to pick an all time favorite movie, this would be it. Hilariously funny in a camp 80's type of way. Don't take it too seriously, it's not meant to be serious. It's just funny, but with no idiotic jokes which are thrown in to entertain the masses these days.
39
The Parent Trap 1998,  PG)
The Parent Trap
A nice, entertaining family flick. A great remake of the classic film, with Lindsay Lohan at her best.
40
Practical Magic 1998,  PG-13)
Practical Magic
A good "magic movie" with enchanting performances. A basic storyline with some gooey romantic stuff that will get any girl enthralled. The tale of romance is worth more than the "magical" tale.
41
Pretty Woman 1990,  R)
Pretty Woman
A real chic flick but the best of it's kind. Charming performances by both Roberts and Gere and always worth a watch.
42
Returner (Ritana) 2002,  R)
Returner (Ritana)
The synopsis says there is not an original idea in this movie, but hell, it does it ten times better than the originals. Combining Indepence Day, The Matrix, and The Terminator, this movie is on the entire time. Big explosions, a good story, amazing special effects, everything is quality. Throw out your copies of the "originals" and buy this - it's classier than all three.
43
Robin Hood: Men in Tights 1993,  PG-13)
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
This is perhaps THE funniest movie of all time. A spoof on all the Robin Hood movies and the best Mel Brooks movie of the bunch.
44
Shrek 2001,  PG)
Shrek
Hilarious though it would have been better without the minor toilet humor. Most are past that and those that aren't, should be.
45
Sleepless in Seattle 1993,  PG)
Sleepless in Seattle
Sleepless is beautiful and touching. It's a chic flick, but a great one. They play this every Valentine's Day and I always watch it. My favorite romantic comedy.
46
Spirited Away 2001,  PG)
Spirited Away
Perhaps Miyazaki's best film, because they get better with time. Both the dub and the original are worth a watch, with both good in their own right. Watch both to get the full experience.
47
Spriggan 1998,  R)
Spriggan
Spriggan should be a cult anime classic. Better than other classics like Akira. A plot that makes sense and makes good use of biblical references. Lots of action and enough hardcore violence for those who want it.
48
Starship Troopers 1997,  R)
Starship Troopers
A great sci-fi movie which could almost be called spoof, but also holds a story of it's own. Not to be taken so seriously, but there is enough gore and interesting plot to keep most amused. One for sci-fi fans only, though.
49
Twister 1996,  PG-13)
Twister
Twister is one of my favorites of all time. This was Helen Hunt when she was still popular, and Paxton when he still got parts. It's sad to see two great actors go out of fashion, because these are the ones that can act. Twister is face paced, action filled, and has just enough of a plot, romance code, and good characters to see it through the action scenes.
50
Waterworld 1995,  PG-13)
Waterworld
A great movie, one of my favorites. Entertaining, a little kitsch, and oh so enjoyable. Ignore the bad publicity and comments you may have heard, because this movie wont disappoint.
