Jakki Jelene (jakkijelene)

Beautifully directed epic about a horse and all it endures in a time of war. A bit intense for young children, but very effective in drawing out the audience's compassion. It may be seen as a bit contrived at times, but it doesn't ruin the film. What I admired most about the film was the throwback qualities to classic films in a similar vein. The storytelling is fairly basic with cinematography that hearkened back to scenes from The Yearling, National Velvet and even Gone With The Wind.

Wasn't quite what I expected it to be, in that I anticipated something more childish. I am always up for a good adventure, but what I got instead was something surprisingly deep with true artistic value. It's a little slow paced, what a children's movie should never be, but you soon realize that it's not really one for the kids. It's one that really reaches out to an adult's inner child, reminds you of dreams forgotten and the hope to resurrect them. Beautiful production and compelling storytelling.
