3	Kaze no tani no Naushika (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) (Warriors of the Wind) 1984, PG) Although I love nearly anything put out by Hayao Miyazaki this was the first. The plot is a timeless look at war, greed for power, and what one person can do with only will power. My fav. quote in the movie is when the dying king, the blind woman, the princess, and her uncle are sitting at a cosy fire and her uncle says "The young should never give up their hope's and dream's. The future of the world lie's with you." Although I like nearly anything by Hayao Miyazaki this was the first and remains one of my fav. movie's of all time. 7	Raise the Red Lantern (Da hong deng long gao gao gua) 1991, PG) Also one of my fav's. The ending isn't your typical happy fairy tale ending. Its something that makes you think and pushes you to understand a culture not your own.
