Across the Universe
This film is nothing short of wonderful. The cast is compiled mostly of little known actors and actresses; regardless, they all have beautiful voices and bring so much energy to their characters. The use of Beatles songs to navigate the narrative is brilliant. The film is so uplifting, I left the theatre in a state of bliss.
Although it is sure to be compared to Hair, Across the Universe is less of a hippie-fest and more about the state of love and confusion in the â??60s. It, to some extent, visualizes the feelings and stories encompassed in the Beatlesâ?? words. The result is almost indescribable.
Also, there is a great performance by Eddie Izzard as the circus ringmaster; as well as cameos by Joe Cocker, Bono and Salma Hayek.
