The Notebook 2004, PG-13)
A great love & romantic story with a touching, heartwarming satisfying ending. The love relationship between the two characters are fully developed, you get to see how they met each other, how they form a relationship and go through all the hardships before being able to be together. It's basically takes the audience goes through and 'see' the lives of 2 people come together in flashback. The boat river scene is fantastic and when you reach the ending, you actually feel for the characters. |

A brilliant, powerful concept about philosophy of life shown from the life of each and every character in the movie. It's all about acceptance, confidence, emptiness of compliance and accordance, developing own perceptions. Mostly every time in our life, we constantly tried to be extraordinary, overambitious, becoming someone else. Somewhere in between, we lost our own personality and identity. Wow! I really need to remember this well. |

The Dark Knight 2008, PG-13)
The movie succeeded not only as a superhero film, but a mind blowing crime action thriller with powerful mind challenging concepts and views. It shows despite how corrupt or bad people are, they still have the capacity to be good. In the first film, it established batman as a crime fighter, a hero who tries to rid crime in Gotham. In this sequel, it further shows that Batman is more than a hero as he's willing to sacrifice himself, he's willing to be what Gotham needs him to be, further established himself as the city's watchful protector, a silent guardian, a dark knight. |

Watchmen 2009, R)
A truly awesome film that raises the question whether humanity should be saved despite their selfish nature and what's precious in life. The ending also provides a perspective that in order for humans to be good (to obtain peace), sacrifices must be made to trigger it (to make bad things happen). The film is mainly character driven and thought provoking as each of the characters is important and has depth. |

(500) Days of Summer 2009, PG-13)
After a close to disappointment for the time traveler's wife, here comes this. The plot is original, fresh and true to life. The editing is brilliant. The acting, expressions, dialogues are so perfect! Not to mention the ending as well. It tells the story of a decent, honest guy who's heartbroken by a girl who has no intention of being in a relationship and just playing around, regardless of the feelings of the other. It questions about true love, soul mate, destiny, fate and coincidence. This movie shows how guys in the modern age become the victim of a relationship instead of a girl. How a girl can be so bad that she just break up with a guy out of a sudden without a proper explanation, just simply stop seeing each other, saying not happy and no feelings whatsoever anymore. Worst, it changes the thinking of a guy who believes in love. However, it makes the guy learn about relationships, reconciliations and moving forward. Every guy and girl should see this and understand the meaning behind this and give it a thought. This is surely the best, truthful, thought-provoking, enjoyable rom-com film of the year!! |
