The Untouchables 1987,  R)
The Untouchables
Not a very historic view of Eliot Ness and Alphonse Capone, but it IS a very very entertaining movie that draws you in from the first 5 mins, and never let's you go. Sean Connery Earned his award for his portrayal of the old beat cop given a chance to make a change in a corrupt city of Chicago in the 1920's.
2
Dawn of the Dead 2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
This is a very good way of excellerating the dread and danger of staying to stay alive in a world infested with zombies that come at you like a defensive line's blitz on a quarterback.
3
The Pursuit of Happyness 2006,  PG-13)
The Pursuit of Happyness
Excellent movie, and excellent charater portrayal. Will Smith really can act, and he cam make you go through every emotion with you all the way to the end. Inspiational and a joy to see.
4
The Ring 2002,  PG-13)
The Ring
Sometimes, an american version of a foreign horror loses the fear and story, other times, it helps brings it out. This movie did a great job of making a scary japanese horror movie and make it terrifying.
5
Reign of Fire 2002,  PG-13)
Reign of Fire
The only really bad part of this movie is that would love to cut about 20 mins of dead dialog in the middle of this movie and use that to actually show the invasion of the Dragons upon an unprepared modern world. That would have made a decent movie fantastic.
6
Rapid Fire 1992,  R)
Rapid Fire
Brandon proved that he could carry a major motion picture with this movie. If there was any doubt that he could break from his dad's shadow, Rapid fire was a good start. The action was well paced for a movie of this type at the time and makes for great repeat viewing. Makes it more of a shame he left us so early.

I Am Legend 2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
A very well done version of the classic story that was part Omega Man, part The Last Man on Earth, and something a little different. Will Smith portrayed Dr. Nevell in a real and grounded way. It could have gone differently and made it an action packed adventure like Independence Day mixed with Planet of the Apes. It's a good thing it didn't Will Smith brought the drama and sensitivity we saw in The Pursuit of Happyness to this movie in many scenes. Gone were any of the previous portrayals we saw like in Wild Wild West and Men in Black. He's growing into a fine actor and is learning to act and not just play a part.

Black Sabbath (I Tre volti della paura) (The Three Faces of Fear) (The Three Faces of Terror) 1963,  Unrated)
Black Sabbath (I Tre volti della paura) (The Three Faces of Fear) (The Three Faces of Terror)
I first saw this movie when I was about 7 years old at a film showing in grammer school during the spring, and while the last of the three stories was not so good, the first, A Drop Of Water, scared the hell out of me. If you never watched this, check it out. Boris Karloff was mostly the narrator and only showed up in the last story of vampires.

Die, Monster, Die! (Monster of Terror) 1965,  PG-13)

[Rec]
Thanks to The Blair Witch Project, there is a new crop of movies done in the same format. Rec is one of those movies that scares the Hell out of ya. It is in spanish and there are english subtitles, but you can watch without knowing what they are saying and still get to full effect.

Raising Arizona
Here is my introduction to the Coen Brothers moviemaking style, which took off in many other movies afterwards. I never paid any attention to Nick Cage until this movie. I thought at the time that he was a comedy actor, it wasn't until later movies that I learned that he had such a wide range and talent.
