i loved how every detail wasn't overlooked and weaved into a delicately beautiful tale of first-love, set in Japan's scenic countryside. the littlest one in school and a house cat were wonderfully captured too.

without a single eye-candy in sight, both Lee Jun Ki and Aoi Miyazaki gave a very credible performance in this movie, where the most important were implied, not spoken.
note: do not watch this movie if you are bored or tired as it can be rather slow-moving at times.

How does one survive in such harsh conditions, yet continue to fight injustice with such fierce optimism and courage? Her innocent smiles made me hopeful. Superb acting!!
Okuribito (Departures)

beautiful! an honest and sensitive approach to the pain/loss of death in different families. the scenes/close-ups and emotive music lend an air of calm and dignity to an otherwise mobid and taboo subject.
