1
Scream 1996,  R)
Scream
A terrific, hip, hilarious, and scary teen movie that will definitely be remembered a classic of the genre in 10 or so years. A great cast, an even better script, and suspense are all top notch in this horror movie. One of the most influential horror movies ever made truly rescued the horror movie genre. Now if only we could get another movie like this to save the current remake genre.
2
The Wizard of Oz 1939,  G)
The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard Of Oz is one of the best movies ever made. It's a film that you could watch over and over. The effect this movie has on people of all ages is amazing. Every time I watch it, I find something new that I hadn't seen before. Even now it's remembered, and it will be in years to come also. A deserving classic that will never disappear.
3
Halloween 1978,  R)
Halloween
Talk about scary. THE best horror film ever made. John Carpenter starts with a bang then builds up suspense perfectly and then lets it all off by the chilling last 30 minutes. Halloween features barely any gore, yet remains the scariest movie ever made.
4
Psycho 1960,  R)
Psycho
Psycho is probably Hitchcock's greatest achievement, and it deserves every bit. It's a classic that stays with you even after years of your first viewing. I mean c'mon, who doesn' think of Janet Leigh screaming almost every time they take a shower? One of the scariest movies ever made, and also one of the best.
5
Some Like It Hot 1959,  Unrated)
Some Like It Hot
Haha. Some Like It Hot is hilarious. The newer generation wouldn't find it funny, but I sure did. It's an almost perfect comedy. Marilyn Monroe is also in it; you can't go wrong with that. Watch this movie ASAP, believe me, you won't be disappointed. One of my favorite classics.
6
Rear Window 1954,  PG)
Rear Window
Rear Window is another one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. James Stewart and Grace Kelly star as one of the great screen couples. After 'Wait Until Dark (1967)' this is the most suspenseful movie ever made. Hitchcock builds up suspense up until the climactic ending.

**SPOILERS**

You can't tell me that you didn't scream at your TV when Grace Kelly is in the killer's apartment, and we can see that he's coming into his apartment, but she can't. Just terrific.
7
It's a Wonderful Life 1946,  G)
It's a Wonderful Life
It's A Wonderful Life. More like It's A Wonderful MOVIE! A classic not only to watch during the holidays, but anytime of the year. James Stewart is magnificent as the man who's sent a guardian angel to show him what his life would be like without him. The ending, even to this day, still remains joyful and sad.
8
Singin' in the Rain 1952,  G)
Singin' in the Rain
One of my favorite musicals. The songs and dance scenes are fantastic, and almost breath taking how they did that. All 3 main actors are great. This and Sunset Blvd. are the best movies about the show business. Even now it's remembered as a classic. Mostly for the scene with Gene Kelly jumping in the rain with an umbrella singing "Singin' In The Rain," one of the best songs from a movie.
9
City Lights 1931,  G)
City Lights
City Lights is one of the finest comedy movies ever made. Charlie Chaplin is perfect as the lead who falls in love with a blind flower seller, and goes through obstacles to have her heart. I was actually surprised at how funny it was; there were times that I was laughing out loud. One of the greatest movies ever made. Period.
10
Wait Until Dark 1967,  Unrated)
Wait Until Dark
Wait Until Dark is THE MOST SUSPENSEFUL MOVIE EVER! Audrey Hepburn gives an outstanding performance as a blind woman. Can you imagine playing a blind person? She plays it so innocently that it's so easy to feel sorry for her. While watching I always get a knot in my stomach rooting for her, although I know what's going to happen next. Alan Arkin is also fantastic as the creepy villain who wants something inside of Audrey's apartment. Definitely a watch for all thriller fans.
11
Edward Scissorhands 1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands
Almost a perfect movie. Johnny Depp gives an underrated performance that should've won an Oscar. Only Tim Burton could've pulled off this masterpiece that is incredibly unique, fun, stylish, and funny yet sad at different times. Now why can't we get more movies like this?
12
American Beauty 1999,  R)
American Beauty
One of the few movies where I can actually say that it's perfect. It's an entertaining, moving, unique movie. The cast all perform their roles terrifically. American Beauty is one movie that I could watch over and over again. Perfect in every way. Classic.
13
The Birds 1963,  PG-13)
The Birds
The Birds is my favorite Hitchcock movie. It's not his best, but it's my favorite. Tippi Hedren is great as usual. One thing that I really love about this movie is that it goes away from all of Hitchcock's other movies. It's not about murder, escape, running away; it's a simple plot: birds attack a town. It has some very memorable scenes.
14
Titanic (in 3D) 2012,  PG-13)
Titanic (in 3D)
Perhaps one of the greatest of all screen romances? The special effects are absolutely stunning as are the set pieces. Both Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are great. Now this is the kind of movie that will be remembered in 20 years as a classic. Maybe even the next Casablanca?
15
North by Northwest 1959,  Unrated)
North by Northwest
The story is simple: a man has his identity mistaken and is now on a chase across the country for his life. One of Hitchcock's 5 best films. There are sooo many memorable scenes such as the plane attack and Mount Rushmore. Also, it's one of the most enjoyable movies ever made. It's just great fun.
16
Rebel Without a Cause 1955,  PG-13)
Rebel Without a Cause
Rebel Without A Cause is the story of a new kid at school (James Dean) who is a rebel that just wants to fit in. He begins to meet people, but for the most part gets in fights with the other students. The ending is terrific; it has a great moral and it touching. Definitely a classic and one of my favorites. One of the greatest of all teen movies.
17
La Strada (The Road) 1954,  PG)
La Strada (The Road)
Moving and incredibly well made, La Strada remains one of the greatest films ever. I've only see a couple Fellini films, but so far this is the best. Giulietta Masina is absolutely perfect as the lead character who you truly sympathize for. Anthony Quinn plays the perfect "villain" who you also start to sympathize for towards the end. So many memorable scenes, but the best is the touching ending.
18
Rosemary's Baby 1968,  R)
Rosemary's Baby
Rosemary's Baby is one of the most chilling movies of all time. Mia Farrow plays a woman who's husband sold her unborn child to the devil. In return he got success in his career. After a couple of months in her pregnancy, she beings to realize what has happened with her husband. The last 20 minutes are incredibly suspenseful. As close to perfection as a film may come.
19
Boys Don't Cry 1999,  R)
Boys Don't Cry
Boys Don't Cry is a truly moving, powerful, disturbing, and incredible movie. It's so realistic, and shows what people can actually do to each other; it's heart wrenching. I cannot praise Hilary Swank's performance any higher. It's a pitch-perfect performance that IS the best female performance in any film. Surely, it's one of the greatest movies of the past 20 years.
20
Stand by Me 1986,  R)
Stand by Me
Possibly one of the most touching movies. After watching it, I had a terrible time forgetting it. It's based on the mini-story by Stephen King which is also fantastic. It's funny, suspenseful, and heart-felt. A great all around movie.
21
Shadow of a Doubt 1943,  PG)
Shadow of a Doubt
Another Hitchcock masterpiece! Definitely one of his great achievements. Hitchcock himself even called this his favorite movie he ever made. The story revolves around a teenage girl who loves her uncle to death. But once he makes a visit for a while, she begins to believe that he is trying to killer her. There are some great scenes, and it truly is suspenseful.
22
Dial M for Murder 1954,  PG)
Dial M for Murder
Another Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece! They're just one after another. A suspenseful, chilling, and fun mystery/thriller from the Master Of Suspense. It's a perfect cast. (Can you say Grace Kelly & Ray Milland) The murder scene is one of the best scenes in any movie, and remains one of my favorites.
23
Million Dollar Baby 2004,  PG-13)
Million Dollar Baby
Million Dollar Baby is one of the best movies of the decade. Actually, I think it is the best movie of this decade so far. It deserved the Oscars for both Best Picture and Best Actress. Hilary Swank just can't give a bad performance can she? Although not as strong as in Boys Don't Cry, I'd still rank it as one of the better female performances ever. And that ending. The saddest ending that I can think of.
24
Vertigo 1958,  PG)
Vertigo
One of Hitchcock's most complex and best movies. The movie is visually stunning. It needs a couple of viewing before you might fully understand it, but once you do you won't regret it. James Stewart is great as usual. The church scenes are great as well as thrilling. A must see classic.
25
The Shining 1980,  R)
The Shining
The Shining- a great book, and even better movie. Stanley Kubrick was such a great director, and The Shining proves it.
The camera shots are just breath-taking. Between the helicopter opening shots, to the maze shot (which I still don't know how they did it), they're just perfect for either setting the mood or terrifying us. It's definitely one of the scariest movies ever made. Jack Nicholson is perfect as the title role of a father that begins to go crazy. Shelley DuVall is also good, but most people don't understand how good she actually is in this.
26
Into the Wild 2007,  R)
Into the Wild
Into The Wild is probably the year's best film. It has a terrific story, a terrific cast, a great moral, some wonderful shots, and a great soundtrack. Emile Hirsch, Catherine Keener, and Hal Halbrook all deserve Oscar nominations because their performances were incredible. The story is of a man who's graduated from college. He gives all his money away to charity and leaves his whole life behind to live out in the wild. It probably sounds really boring, and once you look at 2 and a half hours. But somehow it keeps your attention throughout the entire movie with action, funny moments, or even a wonderful setting. The entire movie was shot on location which means that there were no sets, which is both cool and rare. But this is a must see movie by all, and I'm currently reading the book which I also hear is terrific. It's actually one of the best movies ever made.
27
The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975,  R)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
This was by far one of the most bizarre, random, most awesome movies I've ever seen. It was a wonderful mix of horror spoof, comedy, and sci-fi filled with humor and sex gags. This is not recommended for everybody. Just be warned before you watch it. The experience would be all the more better with a cult group.
28
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
'Eternal Sunshine' is actually pretty funny. Although it stars Jim Carrey, it's more of a romance/drama than a comedy although there are some humorous parts. Kate Winslet is terrific as the girl who Carrey falls for. It's one of the most unique movies, and has one of the best, most original screenplays to come along in awhile.
29
The Apartment 1960,  Unrated)
The Apartment
Forget those corny Diane Keaton romantic comedies. We have the King Of Romantic Comedies right here! Billy Wilder delivers another masterpiece that stars Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine both in great roles. This is definitely one of my favorite movies and is a true classic.
30
Little Miss Sunshine 2006,  R)
Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine- not only the year's best, but one of the decade's best! This black comedy is sure to make you laugh, and perhaps even cry. It's funny from start to finish. And the performances are all great! This should have won Best Picture over The Departed.
31
The Sixth Sense 1999,  PG-13)
The Sixth Sense
The Sixth Sense is one of the greatest thrillers of all time. Perhaps even the best. Bruce Willis is great, but it is Haley Joel Osmond and Toni Collette that really shine through. One of my favorites scenes is in this movie, and that's when Cole confesses his ability to his mother in the car.

"The woman, she's hurt."
"She is, well where is she?"
.....
"Right outside my window."
32
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring) 1959,  Unrated)
Jungfrukällan (The Virgin Spring)
Truly a magnificent piece of filmmaking. Absolutely stunning the entire way through, even in the hard to watch scenes such as the rape. Bergman creates some truly sympathetic characters with such innocence, that I found some of the evil scenes some of the most excruciatingly painful scenes to watch, even though they were not violent at all. Very provocative and disturbing, this Ingmar Bergman film is a hugely underrated horror film filled with symbolism. From what I've seen, this is my favorite of all of his films. The ending was terrific and really left me thinking. This got better with another recent viewing since I caught many smaller details that are key to the plot.
33
Fargo 1996,  R)
Fargo
Fargo is a modern comedy/thriller that just cannot be hated. Frances McDormand is perfect in the title role as is the supporting cast. Somehow the Coen brothers mix humor with suspense and thrills and pull it off. A great movie.
34
Ladri di Biciclette (The Bicycle Thief) (Bicycle Thieves) 1948,  Unrated)
Ladri di Biciclette (The Bicycle Thief) (Bicycle Thieves)
Such a simple plot, yet words can hardly describe the perfection of this film. I watched this for the first time today and have no idea why I have not seen it sooner. My rating is a 4 1/2 and could very easily bump up to a 5 star the more I think about it. Terrific acting, direction, script...everything comes together to form one of the best films ever made.
35
The Innocents 1961,  Unrated)
The Innocents
The Innocents is a true ghost classic. In my opinion, it's the greatest ghost movie ever made, and definitely one of the best horror movies. Deborah Kerr is fantastic as a governess who moves to take care of two kids. Once she gets to know the kids a little more, and the history of the house too, she believes that ghosts have taken possession of the children. There are some truly frightening moments in this shocker. The Innocents actually gets better with more viewings. Based off the story called "The Turn Of The Screw", it's most definitely worth a watch by all horror fans.
36
Airplane! 1980,  PG)
Airplane!
Airplane is the funniest movie I have ever seen. The jokes are non-stop and they just get funnier as the movie progresses. Just thinking about some of the gags makes me giggle in my seat. The humor is so stupid and clever. You either love it or hate it. I, for one, love it.
37
Monster 2003,  R)
Monster
*THIS COMMENT CONTAINS SPOILERS*

Where do I begin with this powerful, truly moving film? Charlize Theron delivers a performances that is in my opinion, one of the greatest female performances of all time, as the prostitute trying to find herself both in life and within herself. Christina Ricci (Selby) is also excellent as the innocent woman who falls in love with Charlize Theron (Aileen). Aileen says that once she gets a job and has money, that she swears that she will never continue with her prostitute ways. But as their relationship builds, so does the tension inside of Aileen who is going behind Selby's back now and "giving her self away" to random men on the street. After a rape and a near kill, Aileen's rage inside is blown out of the way as she kills the man. She continues to do this while Selby has some idea, but not much. 'Monster' is not technically a really fun movie to watch, but it has it's funny moments and it is pretty disturbing and life-like. But nothing is as strong as the ending. Boy oh boy, what a magnificent ending! After the news starts surfacing about the recent murders, Aileen is arrested one night. When she is in court, Selby is brought back in to say if Aileen is innocent or guilty. She simply just stares straight on and points to Aileen, meaning that she's guilty. (Here's the best part) Aileen begins to break down with sadness of what her life will turn out to be like now, but she also simply nods to show that she is understanding of Selby's thoughts. Again, this is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and you should all definitely watch it ASAP.
38
Bonnie and Clyde 1967,  R)
Bonnie and Clyde
Bonnie And Clyde is one of the greatest crime films ever made. With Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, it's a classic. And it's not your typical crime film. Sure it revolves around the crimes, but most importantly on the life of the two criminals. It's based off of a true story which is cool.
39
Sunset Boulevard 1950,  Unrated)
Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is quite a genuine classic directed by one of the greatest directors, Billy Wilder. Gloria Swanson is incredible. In fact, her performance is one of the greatest ever. This movie is a must see for film fans of any genre.
40
Pee-wee's Big Adventure 1985,  PG)
Pee-wee's Big Adventure
Haha. Pee Wee Herman is my hero. This has got to be one of the funniest movies ever made. And to think that is spawned Pee Wee's Playhouse is awesome; since that's one of my favorite TV shows. There are so many funny parts that I find myself laughing out loud every time I watch it. It's definitely a cult film, and not for everybody. But if you like Pee Wee Herman or stupid humor, this movie is for you.
41
Juno 2007,  PG-13)
Juno
VERY rarely do I give a 10/10 on a movie. Especially one that I've only seen once. But Juno definitely deserved it. Ellen Page was fantastic and should win the Oscar. The supporting cast was also strong: Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Allison Janney. This is also one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I was literally laughing until tears in the theater. That's how funny it is; thanks to the superb script! But besides it being histerical, it was also very heart-felt, and at points moving. This is a definite recommendation from me to every single person out there who's reading this! TWO THUMBS WAY UP for the BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!
42
Once 2007,  R)
Once
Once is by far one of the best films of this decade. So pure, honest and yet so heart-breaking and perfect. The soundtrack is incredible and is actually one of my all time favorite albums. Perfection! Marketa Irglova and Glen Hansard are very good in the leads of this film. Just a feel good movie that you are sad to see it end.
43
May 2002,  R)
May
May is one of my favorite horror films of all time. It's so unique and hilarious at the same time. The movie is very subtle which adds to the humor when the jokes are delivered. The horror didn't really start until the last third, but the first two thirds helped build up. It's just a perfect horror movie.
44
Mean Girls 2004,  PG-13)
Mean Girls
What can I say? It was hilarious. One of my favorite comedies. Even though it's a chick flick, I'm not ashamed to say that I love it. Rachel McAdams is incredibly funny and perfect as the snobby teen girl. It's a non-stop movie that is actually pretty scary on how real it can be in middle/high school. A recommendation to all teenagers!
45
The Bridges of Madison County 1995,  PG-13)
The Bridges of Madison County
The Bridges Of Madison County is one of my all time favorite romance movies! Meryl Streep gives an INCREDIBLE performance as an everyday housewife who has an affair with a man she meets. There is no reason to give this movie hate, since it's fantastic.

***SPOILERS***
The best scene is towards the end when Franchesca is in the truck and she must decide between Richard and Robert.
***END OF SPOILERS***

Even for people who aren't fans of romances, you could probably enjoy this.
46
The Shawshank Redemption 1994,  R)
The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is one of the 10 best movies ever made. Although it's not that high on my personal favorite list, it's still a masterpiece. Even though the running time is a tad long, it doesn't seem boring one bit; which is quite an achievement. The movie is based off the story by Stephen King that can be found in the book "Different Seasons."
47
Seven (Se7en) 1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
Se7en is another one of my favorite crime films. The movie has an all star cast and a great story: a criminal is killing innocent victims based off of the 7 deadly sins. There are actually some pretty scary moments, but it's the ending that you really remember. "What's in the box?"
48
Pulp Fiction 1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction
What do you even say about this movie? Well, it's one of the most popular movies ever made, and it deserves almost every bit of credit. It's got an all-star cast, an even better script, and a great plot. All that plus some really fun scenes equals a truly great movie.
49
The Silence of the Lambs 1991,  R)
The Silence of the Lambs
The Silence Of The Lambs is easily one of the best films ever made. Jodie Foster is outstanding as the lead FBI agent hunting down a killer. But it's Anthony Hopkins that really steals the show as Hannibal Lecter, one of screen's greatest villains. Now this is a true movie that will always be remembered of a masterpiece.
50
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986,  PG)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is perhaps one of the best teen movies. It's original, funny, and sad at times. Matthew Broderick makes for a terrific character that shall always be remembered. One of my favorites.
51
The Breakfast Club 1985,  R)
The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is a masterpiece not only of teen movies, but of all time. It will be forever a classic. All 5 of the actors do their roles good. The ending is great, as is just about everything else. But the one thing I love most about this movie is the touching/moving aspect of the movie. The moral is also very strong.
52
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1984,  R)
A Nightmare on Elm Street
A Nightmare On Elm Street is the perfect slasher movie. First, a legend was born: Freddy Krueger, who still, to this day, is recognized by everybody in the US as one of the best villains of all time. His character is flawless with the hat, burned skin, dirty sweater, and of course the knife glove. The whole movie is extremely entertaining all the way through. This is the type of movie that I could watch over and over again. And you can't say that you weren't scared by this; this is one movie that I actually cannot watch with the lights off. Wes Craven does a perfect job with this phenomenal horror masterpiece that shall always be remembered.
53
Friday the 13th 1980,  R)
Friday the 13th
What a landmark slasher movie! Without Friday The 13th we wouldn't have 80% of the horror movies we do now. Some may call it very cliche, but it was one of the first of it's kind, so it really invented all of the cliches. Average acting, but great atmosphere, gore, and suspense. This is definitely one of my favorite horror movies of all time.
54
Carrie 1976,  R)
Carrie
To me, Carrie is one of the most perfect horror movies ever made. All performances are outstanding, but Sissy Spacek delivers one of my favorite performances. I love how the film builds up by creating suspense and drama, and then at the prom all hell breaks loose. Easily a Top 10 horror film of all time.
55
Jaws 1975,  PG)
Jaws
Jaws is an absolute classic not only of the horror genre, but of all time. Stephen Spielberg does an excellent job directing this extremely difficult task. I'll make a confession that I will never EVER swim in the ocean after watching this movie. When I was a kid, it made me afraid to take a bath! That's how memorable and effective this movie is. Even rewatching it the other day, I remembered how truly terrifying it still is.
56
Black Christmas 1974,  R)
Black Christmas
Just thinking about this movie makes me creeped out. The suspense is at times almost unbearable. For about a half hour I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. There are hardly any times when you're bored or when something scary isn't happening. This is a great achievement for the horror genre.
57
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974,  R)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Easily one of the most disturbing, truly scary horror movies out there. It's so gritty and realistic that it makes you feel like you are actually there. Once the movie is done you just want to take a shower. There are quite a few times that I almost cannot bear to watch it because it's so scary. It's a true horror classic that is definitely a masterpiece.
58
The Exorcist 1973,  R)
The Exorcist
Easily one of the 10 best horror movies ever made. The only reason it doesn't get a perfect rating from me is because it drags on for a long time. But besides that it's marvelous. It's honestly one of the scariest, most disturbingly eerie movies I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Linda Blair is definitely the stand out here as the possessed girl, but the rest of the cast also does a terrific job! Highly recommended!
59
A Clockwork Orange 1971,  R)
A Clockwork Orange
I'm a little surprised that this classic doesn't have a higher rating on here, since I think it's one of the better movies to be made. Stanley Kubrick delivers us with yet ANOTHER masterpiece. Malcolm McDowell does a very good job for such a difficult role. The movie is disturbing at parts, but is very enjoyable. I love it!
60
Night of the Living Dead 1968,  R)
Night of the Living Dead
This is without a doubt the best zombie movie that was ever made. It's still very effective even today. Just think what the horror genre would be like without this movie? No Night Of The Living Dead, no zombie movies! Brilliantly photographed and acted, is quite scary!
61
The Graduate 1967,  PG)
The Graduate
The Graduate is another one of the best movies I've seen. The whole cast was great, the plot was ingenious, and it was witty. There are so many famous lines and scenes in this. Highly recommended! One of my favorites.
62
Breakfast at Tiffany's 1961,  PG)
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Breakfast At Tiffany's is one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies. I think that everybody should watch this movie because it's a true classic that will never go away. Everywhere you go there's a poster of Audrey or even the song Breakfast At Tiffany's is playing. And it's a great movie on top of that. It's highly enjoyable, greatly acted, and quite funny. And I can't forget to mention the ending; it's great.
63
An Affair to Remember 1957,  Unrated)
An Affair to Remember
What a great romance movie! The first half was incredible and was almost perfect. Then during the second half it got a little stretched out and the ending wasn't that great. But it was still great. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr both do terrific jobs in their roles.
64
Roman Holiday 1953,  Unrated)
Roman Holiday
Another great Audrey Hepburn. This is one of her greatest performances, if not her best. It's got everything a romantic comedy needs: romance, comedy, entertaining scenes, and originality. One of my favorites.
65
The African Queen 1952,  Unrated)
The African Queen
Now THIS is a movie deserving of the title "Classic!" Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart are both terrific in their roles. And it's filled with terrific action sequences that I can imagine was hell to shoot. This is recommended to everybody! An all time favorite.
66
An American in Paris 1951,  G)
An American in Paris
An American In Paris is a true classic, and one of my favorite musicals. Gene Kelly blew me away AGAIN with his singing and dancing. But the plot is also very good, and the ending is terrific.
67
Strangers on a Train 1951,  PG)
Strangers on a Train
This is one of Hitchcock's best, most suspenseful movies. Even from the opening scene you can tell that it's going to be great. There are many many creepy and disturbing parts in this. The tennis scenes comes to mind. But it's the climax that I really loved.
68
All About Eve 1950,  PG)
All About Eve
Bette Davis is literally almost perfect in this classic that is truly great. The script is one of the best ever written and sparkles with comedy and classic lines. This classic should be viewed by everybody.
69
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre 1948,  Unrated)
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Humphrey Bogart gave his best performance in this movie, and was completely robbed at the Oscars. Besides Bogart the movie is still terrific and one of my favorites. It shows how greedy people can actually be. A true classic.
70
Double Indemnity 1944,  Unrated)
Double Indemnity
Double Indemnity is both one of film noir's greatest achievements, but also one of Billy Wilder's best movies. It really is like a Hitchcock movie, but better than some. Great twists and turns with a great climax. Tremendous!
71
Gone With the Wind 1939,  G)
Gone With the Wind
You'd think with a running time of about 4 hours that this would terribly boring, but even I was proven wrong. It is still a genuine classic and one of the best films ever made. True storytelling at it's best.
72
King Kong 1933,  Unrated)
King Kong
King Kong is a true classic not only of the horror genre, but of all time. By today's standards, the effects are a bit hammy, but for the time they are mind blowing! The action sequences are terrific. But it's the ending that is the best part. "It was beauty killed the beast!"
73
The Lady Vanishes 1938,  PG)
The Lady Vanishes
This is easily one of the most suspenseful thrillers ever made, and is a great mystery. Why can't movies be made like this anymore? It's one of Hitchcock's best movies, and one of my absolute favorites.
74
Freaks 1932,  Unrated)
Freaks
Freaks is one of the creepiest, scariest, most depressing movies I've ever seen, and I love every minute of it. There really aren't any boring parts, and the climax is terrific. A favorite of mine.

From Here to Eternity 1953,  Unrated)
From Here to Eternity
This is one of cinema's all time greatest movies. There are many different genres and sub plots to keep you interested along with some great action sequences and terrific romance scenes. The most memorable scene is the love making on the beach. That scene was pretty controversial at the time, but is now somewhat outdated, but still a very good scene. Highly recommended movie!

Modern Times 1936,  G)
Modern Times
Modern Times is actually one of the funniest movies I think I've ever seen. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments. And the movie itself was fantastic. The theme of the movie was very well delivered and portrayed. And I thought the ending was absolutely fantastic!

The Circus
The Circus is Charlie Chaplin's most underrated movie. It's highly enjoyable with tons of laughs and memorable scenes. The plot is very simple, but is executed perfectly. This is definitely a gem.

Casablanca 1942,  PG)
Casablanca
Perhaps the greatest of all films, this classic love story starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman set so many standards and was a huge influence to thousands of other romance movies. By far one of the best films ever made!

The Sound of Music 1965,  G)
The Sound of Music
Probably one of the best films that I have ever laid my eyes on. The locations are beautiful and almost unrealistic. Julie Andrews does a terrific job in a difficult role. Overall, this classic truly deserves it's title as one of the best films ever made. Featuring great songs and dance sequences.

To Kill A Mockingbird 1962,  Unrated)
To Kill A Mockingbird
A truly unforgettable masterpiece. Surely one of the greatest films of all time. Gergory Peck is Mr. Finch, a lawyer who is working on a case involving a black man raping a white woman. Along the way there is some trouble in his neighborhood, and his children have a lot to learn. Everybody is fantastic, but I'd say the best was Mary Badham who played one of Peck's little children. Overall, one of my favorite movies of all time.

Taxi Driver 1976,  R)
Taxi Driver
Incredibly powerful, this Scorsese classic is truly one of the best films ever made. Robert DeNiro delivers one of cinema's finest performances ever. Jodie Foster also did a tremendous job in an early role for her. There is never a dull moment throughout. Overall it's a film that almost cannot be liked by everybody!

Close Encounters of the Third Kind 1977,  PG)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Despite a lengthy running time, Close Encounters manages to capture your attention with the story, special effects, and the acting. Everything about this film is terrific. It's definitely one of the best films I've seen. If you're looking for a good sci-fi/alien movie, I've got one right here for you. Stephen Spielberg hits another home run!

Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) 2001,  R)
Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
Amelie is a movie that's actually kind of hard to review since you can't even put it into words. Let's just say that it's as near perfect as a film can get. It had hardly an flaws throughout. Audrey Tautou gave an OUTSTANDING performance; one that I think deserved an Oscar. The humor and romance are all mixed in well. But it's the visual aspect that is really amazing. Every single frame was stunning! Overall a terrific film. Definitely one to make you view life in a different way.

The Best Years of Our Lives 1946,  Unrated)
The Best Years of Our Lives
What a remarkable film! Even with a near 3 hour running time, The Best Years Of Our Lives manages to keep your attention the entire way through! Going into it I thought it was going to be really boring, but I was proven wrong. Every single actor did a terrific job. My favorite part was at the beginning when the veterans were coming home for the first time. Even to this day this film has lost no impact. Overall a marvelous film!

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? 1966,  R)
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
To begin: Elizabeth Taylor gives the single greatest female performance EVER! There have been some perfect ones like Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry, Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice, and Charlize Theron in Monster....but none quite like this. The depth and range of her performance in phenomenal. She will probably never be beaten. Enough about her, the rest of the cast was also incredible. All 4 main actors were Oscar worthy, and all gave memorable performances. The film itself was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. Stunning, emotional, and Mike Nichols captured it all perfectly. One of the best scripts I have ever heard. Just an overall terrific piece of filmmaking.

Le Notti di Cabiria (Nights of Cabiria) 1957,  Unrated)
Le Notti di Cabiria (Nights of Cabiria)
Landing just behind La Strada as Fellini's masterpiece. An absolutely incredible piece of filmmaking in ever sense. Fellini does an excellent job directing, and the cinematography is stunning. However, it is Giulietta Masina who is the glue that holds this film together. Honestly, one of the best female performances I have ever seen. A breathtaking and heartbreaking ending ends this incredible film on a great note.

Diabolique (Les Diaboliques) 1954,  Unrated)
Diabolique (Les Diaboliques)
Now this is how you make a suspense film. There are moments that are so suspenseful that it is almost unbearable to watch. Just incredible. Diabolique has quite a bit of build up, but if you pay attention to it, it will not be boring and is actually quite subtly suspenseful. Simone Signoret and Vera Clouzot are very well playing their lead roles, and Mr. Clouzot himself does an excellent job. Many consider this a huge influence to Hitchcock's Psycho- one of the best films ever made. Perhaps the best aspect of this film is the screenplay. Highly original, clever, and has a way of creating wonderful twists and turns that you will never see coming. And the ending will no doubt leave your mind for days after you watch this movie. Terrifying and suspenseful. Overall Diabolique is one of the best horror films ever created.

Brief Encounter 1945,  Unrated)
Brief Encounter
Very intelligent and charming romance classic that truly deserve its title of a classic. Celia Johnson delivers a near-perfect performance. This film is very original, at least at the time. Highly influential and still excellent to this day. An absolutely heart breaking ending.

Safety Last! 1923,  Unrated)
Safety Last!
Never since I first watched Cannibal Holocaust (1980) have I ever looked away from the screen while watching a movie than this. This is my very first Harold Lloyd film and I absolutely loved it. It's instantly one of my all time favorites. The first two thirds are hilarious. But it is the last third that is remembered. The last third consists of the main character climbing the outside of a building while birds, a dog, painters, and other obstacles get in his way. I would honestly rank this as one of the scariest films I've ever seen. And I don't even have that big of a fear of heights. Anybody and everybody should watch this magnificent film.
