My Favorite Movies

These are some of my most favorite movies in no typical order at this point in time. Thanks...Nick. I tend to really enjoy indie film along with foreign films the most. I am not a huge fan of most mainstream hollywood movies. I like high intensity movies with good story line. I enjoy a lot of CGI movies and cartoons too...especially those by Miyazaki. I think that Jason Statham is an amazing actor who is brute and bad-ass in his roles, and I like him along side in Guy Ritchie films.

House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) 2004,  PG-13)
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu)
This is a beautiful movie. I enjoy the scenery throughout the bamboo jungles. I was amazed by the ending where there is the neverending seasons changing while they are in an endless sword battle.
2
Hero 2002,  PG-13)
Hero
I am a huge fan of Jet Li and this is one of the main reasons. This movie is so well put together with the beautiful cinematography and acting. This in one of many reasons why I prefer foriegn movies over US movies.
3
Shooter 2007,  R)
Shooter
Walhberg was amazing in this movie. I have gained a lot of respect for this actor in the last few years. He has really stepped it up since Marky Mark. The action and the development of the movie is great.
4
The Bourne Identity 2002,  PG-13)
The Bourne Identity
I like this movie a lot. It is so interesting how Bourne has nothing and knows nothing and yet becomes something so amazing. He possesses these great talents that he doesn't even know that he has until he has to use them in a life or death situation. I like the fast fighting, fast cars and the fast paced story line.
5
The Bourne Supremacy 2004,  PG-13)
The Bourne Supremacy
I like how the transition from the first film to the second film remains consistent even though it takes place 2 years later and it is directed by a completely different director. Even still this movie remains with the suspense and intrigue.
6
The Bourne Ultimatum 2007,  PG-13)
The Bourne Ultimatum
The third installment is supposed to complete the trilogy but actually still leaves it open to another movie if that is what Greengrass could do. Again the suspense is so well thoughtout you would think that this action spy movie actually really happened right under our noses.
7
The Italian Job 2003,  PG-13)
The Italian Job
Nothing beats an all-star cast with great action and driving scenes. I know this is a re-make and I typically frown against re-makes, but this is so well done and thought out that it makes it amazing.
8
Donnie Darko 2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
What a great movie about the understanding of time travel and who better to accompany you then a sadistic bunny. I like the young cast because they really seem naive to what is really going on and it makes it seem so real as they are supposed to be teenagers who are not really wheatered with what the world hold.
9
The Butterfly Effect 2004,  R)
The Butterfly Effect
I really really liked this movie. I am not a huge fan of either of the actors, but it just goes to show that with a good producer and a good director what a movie can become. Even though this is a great movie I still have no respect for Ashton.
10
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot) 2002,  R)
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot)
I really like this movie. It has great features and everything is done so well.
11
Oldboy 2004,  R)
Oldboy
The plot and concept of this movie are amazing. Though I dont agree with everything that happens in any movie, I think that for the most part it was really good.
12
Edward Scissorhands 1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands
Classic Tim Burton involving the great Johnny Depp. Great artistic appeal with the typical suburbia. The soundtrack suites the movie very well.
13
The Nightmare Before Christmas 1993,  PG)
The Nightmare Before Christmas
I really enjoy Burton's Clay animation or claymation stop animation. Jack is such a great character and the story alone is just so amazing. No wonder that half the revenue of Hot Topic comes from selling mechandise from this movie.
14
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride 2005,  PG)
Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
Again another great Burton film. The animation is so well put togetehr the movements seem so real. On top of that you have Depp and Bonham-Carter teamed with Burton again. These dynamite film noir have together been in a dozen movies...whether it is Bonham Carter and Depp, or Depp and Burton, or Burton and Bonham carter, or the 3 of them together. Greatness comes within these 3.
15
Beetlejuice 1988,  PG)
Beetlejuice
Crazy Tim Burton didn't any one tell you that drugs are bad, but the imagination is good. Well someone must have. This is crazy weird and who better to play someone then another of Tim Burtons early actor Michael Keaton? Then there is the lovely Winona Ryder. I like the artistic feat in this movie not to mention the off-the-wall antics.
16
The United States of Leland 2002,  R)
The United States of Leland
Ryan Gosling. Man this dude is righteous. He is a very talented actor who is so talented he gets to pcik and choose the roles that he wants and just doesn't take random crap to put his name on it. Everything about this movie is amazing.
17
The Transporter 2002,  PG-13)
The Transporter
Jason Statham...fast cars...Jason Statham kicking ass...fast cars...Jason Statham driving fast cars. YES
18
Transporter 2 2005,  PG-13)
Transporter 2
The sequel to fast cars, fast action, and Jason Statham. I wish there were a million transporter movies I don't get tired of them. Well its hard to get tired when there are only 2. It could be worse and be like land before time.
19
War (Rogue Assassin) 2007,  R)
War (Rogue Assassin)
Jet Li plus Jason Statham. I was a little disappointed just because I went into this movie being more than amazing...like amazingacular or something. But it was still bad A. There was tons of action and fighting and the plot was thick with good. I liked how his partner was the rouge assassin.
20
Unleashed (Danny the Dog) 2005,  R)
Unleashed (Danny the Dog)
This is Jet Li's best movie. I LOVE hero...everything about that movie is greatness. But, this movie has everything. Love, hate, action, fighting, companionship, forgivness, and on and on.
21
Unknown 2006,  R)

I like Jim Caviezel as an actor and I really like Unknown and how it is just pure suspense the enitre time. I like how the guys just wake up in the middle of know where and known of them know who they are...get it 'unknown'

Miyazaki is an amazing art director and these movies would be nothing without his great talent and heart for these movies. His directions create so much emotion and love in the charecters that you really feel for them and you want them to continue on like you are a part of them and they are a part of you as well.

Requiem for a Dream 2000,  R)
Requiem for a Dream
Crazy drug movie. Every movie that I have seen that is about drugs is good and the trend does not stop with Requiem at all. Jared Leto rocks my socks off with how taleneted he is. I wish that he could be in more film, but that would mean less 30 Seconds.
36
Pi 1998,  R)
Pi
Another by Aronofsky...this one is even more deranged and yet that great.
37
Speak 2005,  PG-13)
Speak
Before Kristen Stewart was chasing her brother around weird demons in the Messengers she was just a regular teen with her problems...this is a great movie with the over-comings of rape and struggle...fitting in social classes and breaking apart becoming yourself.
38
Snatch 2001,  R)
Snatch
Guy Ritchie leading an amazing all-star cast in a story about some stolen goods.

I am not a big James Bond fan at all. I have seen a lot of them and only really liked this one. Maybe it is the 'international' Bond that I liked the best. At first I was enthralled by Daniel Craig being Bond, then I liked him in the movie. I typcially didn't like how they have infinate budget to blow up a hundred-something-thousand car in a matte of moments.
76
District B13 (Banlieue 13) 2004,  R)
District B13 (Banlieue 13)
Hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is a pure adrenaline rush. The stunts are amazing how there are people scaling buildings and running up and down walls. The athletic ability alone in these actors is amazing. In foreign movies directors usually find SKILLS to more of an asset then ACTING. It is easier to train someone to act like a detective then it is to train Tom Cruise to scale cliffsides.
77
The Last of the Mohicans 1992,  R)
The Last of the Mohicans
I adore this film to the max. Not too many movies in my book get 5 stars but this is it. The cinematography is visually stunning. The scenery is spectacular...the concept amazing...the soundtrack to die for. The movie can only be described as how you react and feel while watching it.

I have a lot of respect for this movie. I actually met most of the cast in San Diego and they were really cool and just easy going...nothing of what meeting an American celebrity would be. I like the story line it is really good. The acting is great too.
109
The Beach 2000,  R)
The Beach
Its great to imagine that there is one place on earth that is untainted by society, but at the cost of what. Betraying your friends, the ones that you love and leaving everything else behind.

American Psycho 2000,  R)
American Psycho
Christian Bale as a psycho, doesn't get too much more creepy than this. Bale already has that dark look to himself with his sharp facial features.

American Beauty 1999,  R)
American Beauty
Usually I would not be into a movie with a pedophile, a racist, and a bigot homosexual. But something about the combination of all three of these makes this an excellent movie. The acting is really good on all accounts.

28 Days Later 2002,  R)
28 Days Later
Im not typically a huge 'horror' movie fan, but I have to hand it to these foreign directors in this movie. The story line is great...not your typical horror movie or zombie flick either. I like the end...no one lives.

Again...this is a great movie. Not too many sequels are too good, but this kept me wanting like a smooth and great transition from the first film.

Really awesome concept here how everything happens at the same time (11:14) of night. Told from different peoples lives at the same time using great perspective.
