Warning: Be aware when you're watching this movie, you would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness! One of the best animated films that I throughly enjoy over and over again. A movie where adults and children alike can enjoy together. How rare is that? With dazzlingly animated fight scenes and the likable characters, I found this very entertaining. Whoa. I gatta tell you; what a mind blowing film this is! A very thought-provoking essay on human nature and human imperfection. Although some may denounce it as raising violence onto a pedestal, I believe that if you pay careful attention to the movie, the tone is not one of anarchism. Viewer discretion is advised; this movie has its moment of ultra-violence.

Do you have any tissue? I think I'm weeping watching this movie... Expect a slow-moving story that will quietly pull you in, and affect you deeply. Out of a very unexpected place, this movie has created one of the most affecting romances of the year. Uncompromising, touching, and heartbreaking, this film crosses all gender and political lines and fashions a demonstrative story about people and love.

One of the best and underrated Martin Scorsese's movies, in my opinion. I watched this movie when I was in high-school. Didn't like it at first because it was too violent. But when I watched it again these days, I really appreciate the storylines, the acting, the drama, the whole thing that made this movie great. Absolutely jam-packed with powerful performances.

Sometimes it is better if people should not judge the movie before it comes out. I know I did, and I hereby retract my opinion about this movie, how I was wrong. And this time, I'm glad I was wrong. This movie is GREAT. I had doubts whether they could pull it off, but they did! This is one of the best James Bond's movies I ever watched. Just awesome.

It's a drama-comedy film, so if you're expecting pure goofball comedy, you'd be dissapointed. I thought it was a pretty impressive film. And sad at the same time. Be ready with your tissue.

I love the colors, the cinematography, the music, and the myth of everything in this movie. Not for everyone because of its confusing plot and a tad bit too long, but it's one of my favorite movies.

Yes, it's controversial. Yes, it really hit my nerve with some of the issues. This film is about modern people regaining their faith in God, and the danger in faith being confused with dogma. But overall, this has become one of my favorite movies.

Donnie Darko 2001,  R)
41
Dreamgirls 2006,  PG-13)
Dreamgirls
A sea of talented singers made this musical film as entertaining as possible. Sometimes I forgot that I watched a movie, I thought I was watching a concert. I didn't expect this movie to be good, but I was wrong. I feel like I wanna hear that song one more time. Just like "The Bodyguard" with its incredible soundtrack, this movie also provide just that.
42
Empire Records 1995,  PG-13)
Empire Records
One of the coolest and sugar high movie about people with their own problems and dilemma, and yet still having fun. Definitely one of my favorite movies, I remember I watched it when I was a teenager and still thinks that this film rocks!
43
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
This movie is showing us that path; a path that people are trying to conduct to forget about the past. But is it enough? Even when they successed with erasing part of their life, would they able to erase them from their heart? I suppose it is bound to affect different people in different ways when watching this movie, but it left me with an amazingly uplifting feeling. This movie is beautiful. Eurotrip 2004,  R)

Fargo 1996,  R)
Fargo
I love this movie; I love to watch it and revel in the details of a conspiracy plot gone wrong. It never lags, yet every scene present is significant in some way. It puts you through quite a ride - one minute you are flinching at a particularly violent scene, the next minute you are chuckling at some banter between characters. By the way, this is NOT a true story!
46
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986,  PG)
47
Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
Fight Club is one of the most underrated movies, unfortunately. Maybe because of the title, people thinks a mindless action film. Those people are wrong! This film is a teaching experience for people. Perhaps because this film dares to be different, and brave enough not to stick to the golden rules of Hollywood film making.

61
Howl's Moving Castle 2005,  PG)
Howl's Moving Castle
This movie is breaking all the norm and the medium. It isn't shy at all showing a war background and its juxtapose with the bright composition of magical world and I noted; a terrific different idea of steampunk. To those who doesn't understand the term of steampunk; it means a story based on ancient times but with modern setting. I'd say, this movie is brilliant.

Overall, this movie is very good. The music is also very nostalgic, being composed by DeVotchKa, the one who was responsible with "Everything Is Illuminated" soundtrack. Truly wonderful film.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 1999,  R)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Awesome movie. Debut movie from Guy Ritchie, and also debut movie for Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones. I always crack myself up whenever I see this movie. Fun, fresh, smart, full of action and great dialogs. It's hard to understand sometimes because they're speaking in Cockney dialect, so I needed to focus. The humor is dry and witty, and I especially love Nick Moran here. He's so hot.

Napoleon Dynamite
I just wanna say, don't expect too much from this movie -- if you are looking for a typical teenager movie with high school background like party, sex, teachers, and one of those things; feel free to watch something else like American Pie or She's All That. But if you want to watch something different about geeky kids living their boring life and yet you still intrigue by its simplicity humor, I really recommend this. Old School 2003,  R)

Pan's Labyrinth 2006,  R)
Pan's Labyrinth
It's dark, it's haunting, it's mesmerizing. The alternate reality is so richly satisfying and so surreal, it couldn't have been dreamed up any better. It is, a fairytale for adults. For within its fairies and creatures, this film is also an unflinching and grim portrayal of war and oppression. It's disturbing, and at times even difficult to watch.
82
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I have to tell you something; I had fun watching this movie! Seriously, this movie just made my day and I feel like I wanna watch it again. Sure, not everyone likes swashbuckling pirates adventures and silly movie. But sometimes I am easily amused and entertained.

She's the Man
This film is very light and I think it's great if you watch it with friends. So what if it's predictable? As long it's a good clean fun and everyone is happy, I am not complaining. Funny dialogues, simple slapstick, great casting, pretty people, witty characters, etc. I really recommend this for everyone.

Thank You For Smoking 2005,  R)
Thank You For Smoking
This movie is painfully hilarious, although it is not a laughing matter kind of movie. It's a dark comedy about how society has changed throughout the years about matters that are deemed politically incorrect. It's a satire movie about what society nowadays tells us what to do, instead of letting us choose for ourselves. It is not about smoking only, but all those things in life.
101
The 40 Year Old Virgin 2005,  R)
The 40 Year Old Virgin
This is a grown-up movie but kind hearted approach to its subject, which makes it curiously upbeat feelgood film with a sense of humor about matters that we're all guilty of taking the subject seriously. The film never loses its sense of taste and decency, nor a sense of romance that might in other movies have been ignored in the pursuit of a cheap gag. 106
The Departed 2006,  R)
The Departed
I'd say that this movie is one of the best Martin Scorsese's films, and better than The Goodfellas but still below Casino. Maybe because it is not a narrative style kind of movie. It's good, tense, comparative with Infernal Affairs, and I had a good time. Full review click http://hanitje.blogdrive.com/archive/167.html

The Fifth Element 1997,  PG-13)

The Godfather, Part II 1974,  R)
The Godfather, Part II
A very good sequel for the greatest movie of all time. Unusually for a sequel, I think this sequel is very good. Arguably for some people even better than the original. But I'm sticking to my guns and says that I prefer the original. What I like about the sequel is that it contains two arc storylines about two different timelines. How many movies have different storylines altogether?

The plot is not actually important -- it is the journey and how the movie peeled itself like an onion, full of layers of uncertainty. Absolutely entertaining, but it could strained your brain. This movie will bend your mind, and you will discover some stuff you are not meant to discover.

I only have one word for this film: Spectacular! Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit here, but no matter. I thought this is what a movie should be; something that people can enjoy and discuss afterwards. Although I do warning you; it's not for everyone. But who am I anyway? I let you to judge, okay. For full review click http://hanitje.blogdrive.com/archive/85.html

Romeo + Juliet 1996,  PG-13)
Romeo + Juliet
I thought the performances are bit over the top -- although it is forgiven from a movie like this. The characters of Romeo and Juliet are too mature, and not really giving a tragic performance. But I still like it. I also recommend this movie, just because it's a fun movie.

Good Lord, I was laughing so hard watching this movie and my side hurt afterwards. I mean, I never thought the subject of funeral can be so hilarious. Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm 1993,  PG)
Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm
Personally, I absolutely loved this movie. However, it's not a movie for everyone. If you're not already a fan of Batman, then I don't think this movie would have much of interest for you. But if you are a fan of the series or the character, then I highly recommend you check this film out. The script from Paul Dini -- who responsible for the series -- is brilliant, the story is their own improvisation and succeeds to be excellent in every aspect. Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) 2001,  R)
Amélie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
This is a gorgeous film with witty humor and a coy romantic story. This movie able to move me inside, make me think, feel more optimistic, friendly or just happy. For full review click http://hanitje.blogdrive.com/archive/112.html
143
Memento 2000,  R)
Memento
First time I watched the movie, I held my breath and stunned of how amazing this movie is. Great script and very well directed. This movie gave my respect towards Christopher Nolan, who I think is a great director and great writer. Memento is an old-fashioned "film noir"-type mystery thriller with an intriguing, ingenious twist: outfitting the entire film with a style that mirrors the character and viewers' perspective as well.
144
MirrorMask 2005,  PG)
MirrorMask
I love this movie, it's so poetic in a really disturbing way. This is a simple story about how the greatest challenge of all is finding the maturity and courage to look at yourself in the mirror... to make sense of the contradictions inside you, and inside others. I personally like it, because the movie dwells with interpretation of dreams, our sub-conscious, and our desires.
145
Little Manhattan 2005,  PG)
Little Manhattan
A romantic comedy for all ages! Love is about grand gestures. Love is about airplanes pulling banners over stadiums, proposals on jumbo-trons, giant words in sky writing. Love is about going that extra mile even if it hurts, letting it all hang out there. Love is about finding courage inside of you that you didn't even know was there.
146
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian 2008,  PG)
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
I was sitting on the edge of my seat watching this movie. What children movie? If they added more blood, this movie would be an equivalent for "300". I was extremely satisfied watching this amazing war fantasy because I noticed how dark the movie was, and yet not entirely run away from the spirit of the original story.
147
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit 2005,  G)
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Yes, the plot may seem a little silly, but the film is great. From start to finish, it keeps entertaining, and never lets up. If anything, the film is too short. I had fun watching this movie. And it's bloody funny as well!
148
Trainspotting 1996,  R)
Trainspotting
One of my favorite movies, and shame on those people who refuse to watch this movie cause of the content. Never judge a film by its content. This is a movie about life and the choices that people have. Choose life. Choose a job. Choose your future. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that? Never let your friends tie you to the tracks. Which life will you choose?
149
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 2004,  R)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
This movie, surprisingly is very quirky and witty. I laughed in many occassion, although the comedy is actually very simple and very subtle, many people kinda missed it. I can straightly say that people will either LOVE the movie (like I do) or HATE it.
150
Mulholland Drive 2001,  R)
Mulholland Drive
After viewing it I was shocked at how the movie jerked around my mind so much. I could'nt take my mind off that movie for a whole week. That movie stuck with me so I had to see it again. To me, Mulholland Drive is one of the best films ever made. I was utterly confounded, mystified, disturbed, fascinated, and it felt as if someone had driven a truck through my brain.
151
Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo sumaseba) (If You Listen Closely) 1995,  G)
Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo sumaseba) (If You Listen Closely)
The film enveloped me so completely. The characters are mature and understand the consequences of their actions. It's very heart warming and nice, and rather different. I get to see the characters develop and go through crushes, friendships, and many other things that are just part of growing up.
152
The Black Stallion 1979,  G)
The Black Stallion
The film is one of the most powerfully beautiful sets of moving images I have ever seen on screen conjoined with sumptuous music and gently mesmerizing performances. Its editing awards, cinematography awards, and the awards for its music all were well deserved.
153
Say Anything... 1989,  PG-13)
Say Anything...
This is the most wonderfully sweet love story ever. I usually hate love drama, for they are usually so sweet and simpering that I need to projectile vomit directly afterwards, but Cameron Crowe's masterpiece is a delightful exception.

Manhattan 1979,  R)
155
50 First Dates 2004,  PG-13)
156
Downfall (Der Untergang) 2004,  R)
Downfall (Der Untergang)
Impressive. That's one word to describe this movie. Very haunting and very real to the core, the film really depicted the personalities and the last days of the most memorable evil in the whole world. But what we see as a monster on the outside, surprisingly...there's a human being inside this evil. A human being that capable of feeling other emotion like others.
157
Ghostbusters 1984,  PG)
158
Sunset Boulevard 1950,  Unrated)
Sunset Boulevard
Gloria Swanson gave a FANTASTIC performance. She was creepy and demented and totally scary in a pitiful way. The screenplay is amazing, the dialogue absolutely floating unlike other classic movies where they are stiff and by the book. Not for everyone though, because the whole thing shot in black and white, and very heavy with noir tone -- modern viewers might have difficulties to adjust with it. But overall, this is one of the BEST movies I've ever watch.
159
The Dark Knight 2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight truly exceeded all of my expectations. You'd feel like you're in a roller-coaster ride, where you don't want to get off. And after the ride is over, you'd feel like you want to take another ride again. Yes, everyone. This movie is GREAT.
160
The Godfather 1972,  R)
The Godfather
I think the first movie from the trilogy is arguably the best. Many says that is overrated, but I think this movie really dwells with the story about family. I don't think this is necessary as a mafia/mob/organized crime movie, but more about a family. About how a good person has to defend the family honor's and becomes an evil person. A great casting and storylines, when I watched it, my heart always beats faster because the movie is very good.
161
Batman Begins 2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
There are good movies, and there are GOOD movies. This one, is one of those. After the disastrous Batman & Robin I thought I lost all hope to see my favorite comic character into big screen. BR really broke my heart, and made me vomit. But Batman Begins...I personally want to kiss Christopher Nolan's feet for making this movie. http://hanitje.blogdrive.com/archive/5.html

2001: A Space Odyssey 1968,  G)
2001: A Space Odyssey
I am speechless. I cannot find words to describe this movie. This one of the rare movies that actually perfect, in my humble opinion. I am sure many will disagree with me, which is fine. But my experience watching this movie was almost surreal. Hardly a movie raised so many questions and none of the answers. This film blew my mind, and I think I'm going crazy after watching it. Reservoir Dogs 1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
This movie, quite simply stated, is awesome. The characters are quick-witted and fierce and the action is taught. There is never a dull moment in the entire movie. Reservoir Dogs is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again and still not get tired of.

Grosse Pointe Blank
This is one of my favorite movies. I mean, they don't make it like this anymore. I'm begging Hollywood to make this kind of movie again. I mean, this movie has everything; action, comedy, romance, drama, thriller, smart plot, dark humor, great writing, perfect cast, ultra violence, etc. I am thrilled everytime I watched this movie. And it has become one of my personal favorites.
