Rutgar Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer play star-crossed lovers that are cursed, in a cruel way, to always be together but tho still be apart. Highlights: Watch Matthew Broderick(Mouse) escape from Prison, rescue Navarre(Hauer) for a frozen lake or river? when as a wolf he breaks through the ice and sinks into the water. Isabeau(Michelle Pfeiffer) and Navarre as they can almost touch before she turns into a hawk at sunrise and he turns into a wolf at sunset.

Romancing the Stone 1984,  PG)
Romancing the Stone
Ok, his is the gist of the story, Katleen Turner is a soppy/softhearted writter of romance stories, who is loveless herself. Her phone rings and it is her sister frantically asking for help she is in Columbia and is being held by two brothers one played by Danny Devito. Jane(Turner) has been mailed a map, showing where a priceless Emerald is hidden. The sister will be killed if Jane does not come straightways to Colombia and hand over the map. She is given instruction to take the bus to Cartahana, but she gets onboard the wrong bus and the bus crashes into Jack(Douglas) and then the two with him as guide(he has lost every illigal exotic bird he had in his truck) and she gives him money to get her through the jungle to Cartahena to save her sister. The laughs are mingled in with a growing romance between Jack and Jane. Hilights: Jack and Jane take shelter in a crashed drug smuggling plane filled with sealed bags of marijuana, they light a few bags and Jack find a bottle of booze, the smoke of the lit bags make them high and drunk. A military police inspector flags down Danny DeVito car and asks him to take him back to the police station, inside Danny spots his wanted pic, the rest is a riot. Favorite line...well there is only my little burro!

The Longest Yard 2005,  PG-13)
16
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 2007,  PG)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
They are back and I can't wait to buy this movie at the Video store. Not just because it is a Marvel story and contains some really good characters, but because it now introduces The Silver Surfer, who in my opinion is the coolest character in Marvel Comics.
17
Hellboy 2004,  PG-13)
Hellboy
Surprisingly good film, rented it first and then bought it after watching it on rental, sure I would spot major mistakes, nope it was close to the marvel comic book. Nice to see, got cliche Nazi's, cool beasts and endearing hero's.
18
Constantine 2005,  R)
Constantine
Constantine rocks and Gabrialle will blow you away. Another excellent comic that makes it to the screen. Keanu is a anti-hero, somewhat dark but endearing never the less. Good movie!
19
Underworld 2003,  R)
Underworld
Can a aristocratic lady vampire love a lower species of lycan(werewolf)? Well in this movie then can and they mesh the story together well. Imagine a world where Vampires and Werewolver are at each others throats (so to speak lol) and you get a taste of what is explained in more detail in the second movie. I liked the differences in this movie.
20
Underworld: Evolution 2006,  R)
Underworld: Evolution
This continues were the first one left off, but now the two lovers are hunted by both the Vampires and the Werewolves. In this sequel, you find out why there is a blood-feud between both clans. Enjoyed this as much as the first one
21
Blade 1998,  R)
Blade
All three Blade movies rocked, a dreamy Vampire Slayer with a wicked sharp sword, what is not to love. But seriously, Snipes is really good playing Blade the half-human, half vampiric slayer. He fights heroicly, equipped with a sharp, lethal samurai sword, guns that shoot silver bullets, and black belt expertise. Add to this a crusty edged friend and mentor Whistler played by Kris Kristofferson and you have a highly likeable movie, full of energy, and action. :)
22
Blade II 2002,  R)
Blade II
This was a good movie, glad to see Whistler kick butt as well, a mentor should get his hands dirty so-to-speak.
23
Blade: Trinity 2004,  R)
Blade: Trinity
Blade111 rocks, oops I mean Blade Trinity, haha! Enter in other Vampire slayers called 'The Nightstalkers!'. Enter Abigail played by Jessica Biel who has a surprise for Blade, she is... Whistler's daughter tada. hmm does that remind you of Alfred the Butler mentor-friend to Bruce Wayne aka Batman who suddenly meets up with Batgirl.lol Watch out for mentors they hide some wicked secrets, haha. Anyway, add in Ryan Reynolds as comic relief, Abigail's side-kick something like Joxer from Xena fame and you have more campy action than the previous two. Still likeable but the ending still hints at a fourth film in a seemingly Tri-unity?
24
Van Helsing 2004,  PG-13)
Van Helsing
Count Dracula vs. Van Helsing and Kate Beckinsale as the last of royal family trying to stop Dracula. Great special effects. Hugh Jackman played the brooding Van Helsing well but the best actor had to be Richard Roxburgh; he absolutely gave a rock solid performance as the Count.
25
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 2003,  PG-13)
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Now let me see, you've got the intrepid Alan Quartermain, white hunter extradinaire, played by who else but Sean Connery, there is Peta Wilson as the woman with a bite,Vampress Mina Harker from the Dracula movie and loads of other heros and villians. The book was better, but the book is always better. The head villian called the Fantom reminded me of a spoiled child that wanted everyone's elses 'toys' besides his own, hmmm wait isn't that want all badguys want. lol Too many plot lines but grab some popcorn, fun to watch on a rainy night.
26
The Brothers Grimm 2005,  PG-13)
The Brothers Grimm
This film is a hoot and wonderfully played by Matt Damon and Heath Ledger. They play brothers Jake and William Grimm, flimflam men, pretending to rid villages of ghosts, and things that go bump in the night. Captured by Napoleon's soldiers they are forced to investigate mysterious disappearances of girls and soon realize that their is real evil there. Now they must protect the village and rid it of a real villianess. Later this leads to the writing of the famous fables of the Brothers Grimm. Fun to watch, and laugh with.
27
The Sixth Sense 1999,  PG-13)
The Sixth Sense
This movie is a great thriller and it shows you clues to the plot but you really have to look. A boy who see dead people is introduced to a psychologist and the story gets more intense as it goes along.
28
The Others 2001,  PG-13)
The Others
If you have not seen this movie yet, then pick up a copy and watch it, spoooky and the suspense is riveting. Follow Grace, wonderfully played by Nicole Kidman that hopelessly waits for her husband to return from World War 11, she is raising two children in a beautiful mansion believing that here she is safe. When Grace's daughter tells her of the Others that come and go in the mansion, she at first is skeptical until she 'feels' their presence in her home. What do these trespassers want and why? Grace must find this out, if she curb her fears also. An excellent ghost story and the ending hits you from left field.
29
The Shining 1980,  R)
The Shining
Watch this with someone to hold unto, haha. Creepy with a capital C. Jack Nicolson is outstanding a Jack Torrance a writer that needs peace and quiet to break out of the writer's block he is stuck in so he decides to take a job as a caretaker of a hotel in the off-season. He brings his family with him and soon bizarre thinks start to happen and Jack starts to change into a demonic homicidal maniac out to kill his wife played by Shelly Duvall. Horror at its best.
30
Ghost Rider 2007,  PG-13)
Ghost Rider
I was a little disappointed not with Nicholas Cage but with the Ghost Rider Character he played. Ghost Rider didn't live up to the Comic dark hero, I read over and over. He was played too campy, sad to see this. Even the original Ghost Rider in western garb and a cool horse that had glowing eyes and fiery snout, couldn't save this film. Too cheddar-like!

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir 1947,  Unrated)
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
This is an oldy but a goody, loved this movie, trying to find it to buy it. A ghostly romantic fantasy about a widow that buys a house (occupied by a grouchy, hot-tempered sea captain called Captain Gregg wonderfully played by Rex Harrison noted for stage as well as film) Now Mrs. Muir played by the beautiful and talented Gene Tierney will not let the Captain frighten her away. Later they would grow to love each other and Captain Gregg even convinces her to help him write his bold and bawdy tales of the sea, there is no surprise when it becomes a bestseller. Sadly the Captain begins to fade away and Lucy looks at another suitor played by the incompreable George Sanders a rather smooth character that writes children's books. The music is truly haunting and the scenery is beautiful, sometimes the older movies are still the best and this one tops the rest!

The Unsinkable Molly Brown 1964,  Unrated)
The Unsinkable Molly Brown
Excellent musical, based on a totally unsinkable lady called Molly Brown. This put a young actress named Debbie Reynolds on the map. She is fantastic as an unstoppable Molly who is tired of being poor and marries Johnny Brown played by Harve Presnell whos redition of the song Colorado brings out the richness of his baratone voice. Well Molly albeit reluctantly marries Johnny, who strikes it rick in gold mining in Colorado and Molly decides to hide the winnings but something happens to the money and poor Johnny must go out and mine once again because he can't bear to see his 'chickapee' wailing like that. Soon the couple are nouveau rich but shunned in the eyes of Denver society rich snobs. Johnny angerly wants to return to their roots but Molly is determined to be 'respectable' and feels that traveling abroad will make them more cultured and civilized. Johnny reluctantly agrees because he promised to say, 'I'll never say NO! Molly with her demands makes that harder and harder to commit to. All the fun and laughter that he saw in Molly is being destroyed by her persistance in being respectable. Molly meets people of class, elegance, culture and grace in France, she learns to speak fluently in other languages but loses Johnny in the process swearing 'I Ain't Down Yet!' Departing on the Titanic for Denver she again shows her true unsinkable spirit when the Titanic sinks leaving people tired and afraid in lifeboats, Molly cheers them up, handing clothing from her back to warm them even Gladys is shocked by her generosity. Gladys in the leader of the Denver rich and had stymied every outreach from Molly before. I recommend this movie highly. Well worth watching.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers 1954,  G)
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
This was a happy musical romp, great dancing, singing and acting. When a mountain man played by the wonderful baritone voiced Howard Keel brings home his new bride the soprano voiced Jane Powell, she finds that she has also inherited his six slovenly brothers. She quickly sets up rules, wash up or not supper, eat properly, no wolfing down the food and so on. Soon his brothers feel that they also need to have brides to cook and clean for them. Jane tries hard to make gentlemen out of them, but a fight breaks out when the towns men see that their women are being wooed away from them. So Howard suggests that his brothers kidnap the women that they want. Soon terrified and weeping girls gather around Jane and she promptly boots all the brothers out, even a surprised and angry Howard. Jane acts like a mother hen protecting the girls from the advances of the love sick brothers. Excellent film, funny and endearing.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe 2005,  PG)
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
This makes me want to read the books more! The best version yet, the four siblings Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter Pevensie are sent to a rural country home of an elderly professor to be safe from the shelling of the Germans in World War 11 England. While playing 'hide and seek', young Lucy hides in a wardrobe and stumbles on to a land of minotaurs, dwarves, fauns and other fanatical creatures. She befriends a faun named Mr. Tumnus has supper with him, but he puts a sleeping drug in her tea, for secretly he is under the hold of the evil White Witch, Jadis. But Mr. Tumnis has a good heart and lets Lucy go before the witches 'police' the wolves can be alerted to her presence. When Lucy returns to the Wardrobe, no one believes her story because no time has passed in the country home and Edmund teases her cruelly. Eventually everyone of the children find Narnia but Edmund turns to the side of the witch and betrays his older brother and his two sisters. The second time Lucy came to Narnia, Edmund followed and met the White Witch who sweetly played on his greed for Turkish Delight candy and his jealousy of Peter. Jadis knows if she can turn one of them against the other three, then an ancient prophesy that says that 'if two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve reign then that will be the end of the evil White Witch's rule over Narnia.' So with promises of Edmund becoming a prince and more candy she convinces him to tell her the next time his brother and sisters enter her domain.

Now the true ruler enters, the lion Aslan and he guides and trains, Peter, Susan and Lucy to fight Jadis and free Edmund from her spell. Great movie for all ages. A great adventure.

Dragonslayer 1981,  PG)
Dragonslayer
Used to own it, lent it out and lost it. This dragon positively rules, a total monstrosity that terrorizes peasants and feeds on virgins that are chained because a kings allows this to placate the monster and spare the rest of the people. Enter into this picture a young Peter MacNicol of Ally McBeal fame playing an apprentice sorcerer named Galen eager to make something of himself and lies about his powers and winds up in a mess, trying to save his mentor. The scenery is fabulous and the story is great. See it if only for the dragon and the special effects.

The King's Guard 2000,  PG-13)
The King's Guard
Extremely campy, hilarious and positively a breath of fresh air, a totally different take on a musketeer-style like movie. Like most swashbuckling movies there are the villians and the heros and sometimes a damsel in distress. In this film it is a little bit different you have Augustus Talbert played by the formidable Eric Roberts, he is the former Captain of the King's guard but he is spurned by the princess so he betrays the King and joins with Lord Morton played by Ron Perlman, some of you may remember that he played the beast in Beauty and the Beast the tv series a few years back. Now Lord Morton wants the princess' dowry and Augustus wants the princess so the two join forces and storm the castle with bandits and mercenaries. The princess flees with her dowry, Sir Gerald her escort, Lady Roxanne her friend and confidente. Accompanying them is Captain John Reynolds leader of the Kings guards. His men consist of: William an unfaithful ladies man, Sergeant Drummond, John's right-hand man, Master Robert- mentor to the young Reynolds and trainer of the King's guards, Katie McDear assistant to Master Robert, Otto- fop and excellent swordsman,Singbe-Donald- Otto's friend and the two fight about everything and then finally Adam-servant and friend. The group hole up in a burnt out house but they have the best advantage, they are able to see the enemy coming in every direction. Now comes out the tactical moves from both parties. Only Augustus and Lord Morton are not in agreement with the way to proceed against Reynolds, Augustus wants to charge right in, not giving the guards a chance to think of military moves, simply overwhelm them with their numbers, but Morton wants to whittle down their number by simply shooting at them. So Reynolds is greatful for the descention amongst the bandits and applies a tactical move called the 'tiger's claw' to strain the enemy more. Very enjoyable movie, funny and entertaining.
