Snatch
It's a funny movie but also has a lot of dramatic moments on a well done script full of memorably quotes and unforgettable characters, making the movie very interesting and entertaining.

Battle Royale 3D 2001,  Unrated)
Battle Royale 3D
Asombrosa!

Just shocking!... I don't care if this kind of movie is too common, this is really impressive, a lot better from what I was expecting, definitively a must.

Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies)
You have to see this film and it's amazing without a doubts, but if you only are looking for two hours for cry, it´s not for you. By far is the saddest movie that I've ever seen, and I cried like a little baby, but don't go to see it expecting to cry, this is the worst thing that you can do, as same as go to see a horror movie expecting that it's going to scare you to death, it's not going to happen and you won't enjoy it, just see it and try to get involved with the characters, and for sure you'll see yourself immobilized, overwhelmed and why not crying. It's a excelent and different way to see the war through cartoons, but you won't realize thar the war is bad... that is obvious for everybody.

Inglourious Basterds 2009,  R)
Inglourious Basterds
Usually, I'm always think twice before I go to watch a movie about WWII (Nazis), Vietnam, etc. because out there's a lot of great flicks which literally diminish any new attempt to film some story about them. However, I've had a few surprises recently so I've decided to give to most of them a shot, especially when a genius like Tarantino tries.

¿The result? Black humor everywhere and an entertaining script executed beautifully. I enjoyed so much, particularly the Christoph Waltz's performance, every time he was out of camera, I was looking forward for the next appearance: just extraordinary.

The movie format has the Tarantino signature written all over, following, principally, what he did in Kill Bill: Volume 1, except for the industrial quantities of blood, so it's inevitable to chuckle when you often identify the obvious resemblance.

Totally worth it, and one of the best movies in a year extremely poor in good productions. Unbelievable, but after all this years, Tarantino and Pitt, do again an excellent job. Amazing.

Paris Je T'aime 2006,  R)
Paris Je T'aime
Special movie for special people, very intelligent and there you'll see love in the most strange, bizarre, common, beautiful, imaginable and unimaginable way, all of them condensed in creative and wonderful short-stories created by the best directors... You can't ask for anything else.

Magnifique et intéressant, but, once again, just made for special people, otherwise, it'll become extremely boring! ;)

P.D.: If I have to choose my favorite short-story I pick "Faubourg Saint-Denis" directed and written by Tom Tykwer: just awesome, flawless and beautiful; all executed and thought perfectly.

Three...Extremes (Saam gaang yi)
What a movie! but certainly it's not for everyone, only if you really enjoy the "weird" (what a unfair word, but a lot of people thinks that this kind of movies are weird) movies made by the brilliant Asians you will love it... this is a perfect representation of what the wonderful Asian horror is about.

The camera management is awesome, the story is a little bit complicated but very simple at the same time... put this together with the black and white filming effect , and you will get this great film which easily can drive you crazy.

When people started to recommend me this movie, I looked up a little bit about it and what I found was a perfect recipe for catastrophe: Richard 'Rick' O'Conell aka 'George of the Jungle', Miss Congeniality, 'Ludacris', Trip Murphy among others plus 3 academy awards including best motion picture... I knew this can't be good!!... But people kept saying to me that it was similar to Babel, Amores Perros, 21 Grams and I may like it, so finally I decided to give it a try.

The problem was that this film was very hard to catch; didn't have a chance to watch it on TV or in an independent cinema, because of this I bought it: The 2 discs director's cut, and guess what... The movie is anything but special, it's average and annoying at some times, so at the end a waste of money (more than it usually would take).

The first hour really pissed me off. They were trying to convince me that racism is bad, but by which means? American History X style probably? Nop. Just by deepening the stereotypes with lousy acting and insulting the intelligence of the viewer with "touching" (cheesy and facile) scenes and a predictable and extremely repetitive arguments.

Fortunately, after that it gets a little better in its attempt to interconnect all the stories with the racism issue as a center point, so the first part did make some sense, but I was still pissed and even now I think some of it was unnecessary.

Worth it? Probably yes if you get it for free. A superb film? Not at all, just average and confirm my prevention towards academy award winners. Anyway, I realize that this rating may be not be fair, since it's a kind of flick that I usually enjoy, the problem is that I was so warned about it.

Despite this is cataloged by many as a chick flick, I think this is a breath of fresh air, very "relaxing" with amazing soundtrack which makes you forget about the simple (but cute) story...

Definitively worth it, just to lay back, relax and listen outstanding music setting some touching scenes.
