It pleases me that Wayne Kramer was not afraid to delve into some truly terrible situations and not pull any punches in the way he filmed it. Kudos to him. Ranks as one of my favorite action films and Paul Walker's best performance, hands down.
This film is a real trip the whole way thru with a wicked ending(director's cut). It's too bad Ashton Kutcher doesn't choose to do more movies like this.
Could be likened to The Descent(this came before it of course), but executed in a much different way. They give the Creep a sense of character. So much so you really start to feel for him by the end of the film. Ranks among my favorite horror films.
I didn't have high hopes for Elizabethtown, but it turned out to be one of the most quirky and entertaining movies I've seen in a long time. While it seemed like Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst were only brought to this film to appeal to the younger crowd, both performed flawlessly in their offbeat character's roles. In addition to that, its dark sense of humor is a perfect counterpart to the more touching moments. Highly recommended.
Oh how I love this film. This is another one that doesn't take itself seriously and it helps it tremendously. Over-the-top action, great digital effects, and a memorable score. This one is near the top of my all-time favorite sci-fi films. Military vs. army of bugs = win nearly every time.
I bought this one on a whim when it came out, and boy was I in for a treat. Spielberg took a risk with making this one, but he hit the mark. One of his best works.
I would almost say that this might be Pixar's best. I do believe it trails ever so slightly behind Finding Nemo. In any case, they've done very well. The Nascar stuff is great if you're into it and can get some of the subtle jokes. It may be a hilarious in parts, but Pixar has taken the more serious side and really struck an emotional chord here. Thumbs up to them for creating another true classic.
Three cheers for Toto! You may be able to tell by my profile pic that I absolutely adore this film. While the heisei-era Gamera's were spectacular, Gamera The Brave brings Gamera back to his childhood roots with success the showa-era Gamera movies could only dream of. The action took a backseat in this one, but the bond between Toto and Toru is fully fleshed out and the action that is there is great. Top-notch kaiju movie and one of my favorites to be sure.
