is there anything Miike cannot do when it comes to filming?... live theatre performance filmed and brilliantly edited. good story choice too - matches Miike's sense of humour. highly recommended to fans of japanese culture!
when 'young punks' are no longer the good guys... Seemingly this film goes against most of Miike's other films. Or does it? Maybe it was about time for a story like this - it supports the point already made (well, hidden) in 殺ã??å±?1 [Ichi the killer] about violence. 'A Clockwork Orange' from another point of view...
this is â?¢stillâ?¢ a great horror film. Better than a lot of the stuff made recently... filmmakers should realize that special effects are not everything in horror movies (either)...
pretending to be deep and revealing, but it only scratches the surface. documentary or fiction - i don't really care, the characters aren't that bad, but that is not enough for a good film. If you think you'll get to know the yakuza by watching this you will be extremely disappointed. so... go watch Crows ep. Zero instead! ;)
seriously underrated Fukasaku film. unconventional at its time, explicit, violent with a good sense of humour. it is absolutely a must-see if you're into yakuza films!
