Serenity 2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
The greatest science-fiction movie of all time. The best spaceship battle sequence since Return of the Jedi. One of the greatest fight scenes I have ever seen. While Joss Whedon will most likely be remembered for Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, true fans will consider this and its predecessor, the short-lived series Firefly, as his greatest achievement. With elements from all genres, be they western, action, comedy or, of course, science-fiction, Serenity shouldn?t exist only as a cult-movie. It deserves so much more. ?Nothing stops the signal.?

Across the Universe
A generic movie about the sixties done in an astounding way.

Rent 2005,  PG-13)
Rent
Wow. As a lover of the play, I was shocked at just how much I love this movie. I think it has to be the fact that six of the original eight members of the Broadway cast return for the film and Chris Columbus? faithfulness to the play that make it such a good movie. Hearing some of the original play?s lyrics spoken as dialogue was a little weird at first, but it fits. The film can also go places that the play never could, like actually showing Angel?s death (I actually teared up during Without You). I was upset that they didn?t have Halloween or Goodbye Love in the film when I saw it onscreen, but am pleased that they included them on the DVD.

Clue 1985,  PG)
Clue
I don?t know who thought it was a good idea to make a major motion picture based on the board game Clue, but to whoever they are, I have to issue my sincerest thanks. The comedic timing, the music, the talented, hilarious actors, this film has everything going for it and doesn?t disappoint. The only thing I have to say is that the ending really doesn?t work unless you see all three.

Big Fish 2004,  PG-13)
Big Fish
?In telling the story of my father's life, it's impossible to separate fact from fiction, the man from the myth. The best I can do is to tell it the way he told me. It doesn't always make sense and most of it never happened... but that's what kind of story this is.? This is how Tim Burton begins the greatest film he?s ever made. William Bloom has only heard tall tales from his father, Edward, about his life. Now, with Edward dying, William rehears the story of his father?s life. Funny, heartfelt, touching, this is a spectacular film. Giants, witches, killer trees, Steve Buscemi and Danny DeVito as a Werewolf. The film literally has everything.

Dark City 1998,  R)
Dark City
Take away a person's memories, their past; do you still have the same person? This follows the same lines as the Matrix and the Thirteenth Floor. It's a must view for the visual and psychological ride it takes you on. Plus, Kiefer Sutherland goes against type to play a neurotic scientist. Other than that, it's about a guy who's looking for the way to the beach.
