Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith 2005,  PG-13)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
"I pledge myself to your teachings. To the ways of the Sith." I got little sleep the first couple of days this came out.. what with the midnight showing, the talking about it all night and the going again first showing the next day and again in the afternoon with the cute after-school crowd dressed as characters . Going to see a star wars film is an experience so much more than the 2 and a bit hours your sat captivated watching it all fall into place. And this one was even more so, being the last one. I digress... Being the missing part of the puzzle, there were so many loose ends to be tied up, but Uncle Lucas did it. I will miss the three year build-ups to star wars, the online stuff, the figure-buying, the books, mags, trailers, posters, sountrack premieres, even the queuing for star wars is enjoyable.
My fave little less obvious bits that never get mentioned were padme telling annie she was pregnant, the stoner-neomodian, yoda in his jedi pyjamas.
Ian McDiarmid is amazing in this, he may be an old guy but he's quick! Did you see how fast that sabre-pop was! What a sneaky sith he is.
My final kudos, is to the double act - Obi and Ani. Their relationship was heartbreaking. Right to the end, Obi Wan is gutted by the way things have turned out, but stands by his duty to the jedi "You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you." What great performances.

"Why didn't you tell me....to bring along my harmonica?"
This film has it all. Acting, great singing and great songs, and genuine chemistry between Maria and the captain. Beautiful scenery. I LOVE IT! It may not be cool but what better way to spend a sunday afternoon than watching this, and singing along!

Signs 2002,  PG-13)
Signs
Contrary to popular opinion, this film is perfect. It will not be appreciated by everyone but I love it and struggle to see peoples problem with it, but each to their own! Maybe they were expecting yet another fast-paced big-budget blockbuster -- well this is more about the humans than the invaders... for the most part you only see snatches of the creature, like shadows under the door, rather than the creature outright.
The Hess family are the core of the film, my fave scene is their 'last meal' spaghetti, french toast and mash, chicken teriyaki! When mel's character graham hess breaks down and cries. The whole movie is a tragic portrait of a family that has largely fallen apartsince the death of the mother. and former priest Graham's crisis of faith after her death ties everything together at the end... making a case for faith...faith triumphing over "coincidence." I buy into the whole everything happens for a reason thing... like the unfinished glasses of water everywhere, the asthmatic son, grahams wife, the baseball bat, DEEP man, true substance! Now i love a good alien invasion flick, but this was so much more.
This film is also VERY FUNNY! Highlights, Joaquin's character Merril under the stairs watching tv, the foil hats, Graham 'acting crazy' to scare off the wolfington brothers, merrils story about near miss of getting vomited on while kissing.
A perfect marriage of funny and very moving! Well done this film is spot on.
My Fave line of dialogue???? "There's a monster outside my room, can I have a glass of water?"

V for Vendetta
The best thing about this movie is everything about this movie. Its exciting and horrible and heartbreaking. You first realise it's gonna be something great from err... the very first scene. This film is cool and intense and i can see myself watching it over and over and that it will get better each time.

Hugo Weaving's V is a great accomplishment - This is his greatest role, he brings charisma and wit to the blank unchanging mask.

Natalie Portman's Evey, is astonishingly good. The scene where her beautiful curls are shaved off made me cry.. and to think it was for real and she had to get it right in one take. But to focus on the buzzcut is to take away everything else she brought to the movie. She puts in a solid performance as someone unvovering the truth about both V and about herself and finding her 'fight'.

Overall, a deeply moving film. Esp the climatic moments in Trafalgar Square

An intelligent and terrifying and different film full of enough current events to scare the shit out of you.

This film is stunning. I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea and i'll be forever fighting it's corner (like unbreakable, Signs & The Village) But.. It's so original. I LOVE M Night - He's exciting, and nobody can say he doesn't bring something new to the screen with every outing.

Your satisfaction with the movie will come down to your thoughts on Giamatti's Cleveland Heep. The character is so tragic yet wth such an eagerness to believe. If you go along with that, you will be swept along with the movie.. and the notion that some fairytales are real.

The story itself is of the Edard Scissorhands ilk... tho much more complicated with plenty to piece to together yourself. Also, it was jumpier than i expected. The scrunts were too darn loud and moved too darn suddenly for my nerves. In fact its laughable that I could jump so much in a Movie with the same rating as Ice age and Shrek.

Every character was enthralling, I could watch a tv series focussing on each different occupant of the appartment blco, week in week out. easily.

And that's what M Night does so well,,, is the REAL People. Of couse he does the Ghosts, Superheroes, Aliens and Monsters down to a tee too, but really his films are all about the normal people.. or shoud i say the ordinary people that really aren't ordinary at all He shows that there is no such thing as ordinary.

My final note is that i just dont get the critics brutal hatred of this film. IN A CINEMA WORLD OF HOBBITS, RINGWRAITHS, MUGGLES AND DEATH-EATERS.. WHY OH WHY CAN'T M NIGHT HAVE HIS NARFS AND SCRUNTS?

I will not rest until I have you holding a Coke, wearing your own shoe, playing a Sega game *featuring you*, while singing your own song in a new commercial, *starring you*, broadcast during the Superbowl, in a game that you are winning, and I will not *sleep* until that happens.
