Great movie, i was gunna watch double family guy but my mum forced to me watch it instead, and as much as i love family guy, it was well worth missing for this. Its one of those movies where its hard to explain why you felt it was so good (fans of donnie darko may know what i meen) but i just knew it was. Theres so many levels to it that i dont pretend i fully captured its essance, so i'll defintly watch it again some time, so if you havent seen it, change that, and soon, its well worth the time and/or money you may have to spend.
One of my favouret movies. Intricate, dynamic and captivating, its just a great piece of film making with some great actors and a great story to put together infront of you.
A briliant story made even more mind blowing by the fact it's based on a true story. It's a great trip from beggining to end, focused on an interesting, intelligent and inspiring character Christopher McCandless who made a decision about how he wanted to live his life and stuck to it. On the down side it's a little slow paced, which I actually enjoyed but it could well turn a few people off it, plus although there are messages and meaning in there none really come to the forefront and take a majpr focus, which again isn't nessesarily a bad thing, but once it was all over I didn't really feel like my perpective on life or aspects of life had really changed or been built on at all, although I'm certain for some people it could be that powerful, it just didn't really come off in that way for me.
However both those gripes are extremely small and to be honest trying to find major problems with this film is extremely difficult, since there really aren't any from where I'm standing. All the characters how ever much screen time they get feel rounded and human, the story is suitably epic but never starts to feel imposible or unrealistic, and in the end it's just a very satisfying experiance from start to finish that I highly reccomend to anyone who feels like this movie sounds like the kind of thing they might enjoy. It's not the best movie I've ever sceen, but it's certainly up there in the leading pack, and what makes it all that much better is the fact it's based on a true story and when it's all over you are left with an incredible character to read about and research, and a entire novel that this movie is based on if your up for a bit of a read. It's certainly a story that was worth telling and I'm very glad that it was told.
This movie is brilliant. Can't believe so few have seen it or at least rated it.
Poliakoff is a bit of a genius and I've never been let down by his directing although this movie is by far my favorite. The characters are intricate, fun, individual and perfectly layered, visually the movie is subtle, relies on patterns and familiarity (he likes red). The script is great, the plot is great, the acting is great and the whole package, its a twisting, turning, anarchical piece of perfection as far as im concerned.
One of my favorite movies. Some brilliant lines and scenes, a beautiful plot and i love all the characters, great displays of acting and a wonderful anarchic feel about it. Many people seem to find this movie morally challenging, and that just makes me love it even more. Its intricate and yet brilliantly simple.
An absolutely beautiful movie. As far as im concerned this is both Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's best movie ever. Its funny, moving, and just a little bit genious. It might not be spectacular in terms of action or effects, but in terms of scripting, acting, just plain quality and ingenuity, i cant think of any movie that tops this.
A really beautiful film. One of those movies which was written, and filmed as a movie, no quams about how realistic the characters or lines seem, just a movie, beautifully written, beautifully acted and beautifully filmed. The realism is in the subject matter, with a tad of reserch you will find that the projected future gattaca gives us is not only possible but probable and even imminent, that just makes it even better.
Very deep, very dark, which automatically puts it in my line of favour. There is also an underlaying moral message in there, or rather a moral question if anything. Wont give it away but it makes you think.
This is a great movie, a real 21st centaury romance, I absolutely adored it. It's funny, surprisingly moving (wasn't expecting it at all but it was far off moving me to tears on a number of occasions) brilliantly structured, brilliantly animated, and holey unique.
I love it, and I don't mind admitting that it made me feel quite lonely, which is a mark of a great romance (if your single while watching it anyway), plus it made me laugh non-stop, which is a mark of a great comedy (obviously), making this an animated romantic comedy? Either way, great movie, defiantly one worth seeing.
Absolutely incredible. I mean it's not perfect as a whole but parts of the movie just blow you away, and my god the acting, Rush gives one of the best performances as David, possibly even the best performance, I've ever seen.
This movie is worth seeing if you think it sounds like your kind of thing or not, and although like I said not all its parts live up to the brilliance of others, the brilliant parts really are awe-inspiring, and the overall result is and extremely good an enjoyable roller-coaster of a film centred around the most incredible character.
Im shocked im rating this so high, but there again, it was a very touching movie and had superb depth to it. I found myself re-evaluating the way i approach my life after it had finished. Sandler is a great modern day slapstick style comedian, but this is the first time ive seen evidance hes more than that, a wonderful performance from an evidantly very versatile actor.
