Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back 1980,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
This is the single greatest movie ever created to me. Everything is perfect about it. The action is so inventive and set at the perfect parts. The dialogue is funny and clever. And the story is not as light hearted. We get a darker version of the Star Wars universe and you can't go wrong with one of the greatest movie shocks ever.
2
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope 1977,  PG)
3
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith 2005,  PG-13)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
The end of the greatest movie series of all time. George Lucas has finally made the film that the other prequels should of been like. A true accomplishment in SFX and I feel that dialogue is in no way stilted or wooden. And you can't go wrong with the action scenes from the greatest opening to a movie ever to the one of the best Lightsaber battles of all the movies.
4
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi 1983,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
A great end to the best movie series of all time.

The Legend of Drunken Master (Jui kuen II) (Drunken Fist II) 1994,  R)
The Legend of Drunken Master (Jui kuen II) (Drunken Fist II)
Why America feels that they need to screw up what is a classic Kung Fu movie I'll never know. The movie is 5 because of the one released in Hong Kong not this crap. Now let's talk about the real version of this movie. This is easily one of the greatest kung fu movies or Jackie Chan movies ever. The fights are so well choreographed and fluid you think it's an actual fight. Jackie Chan gives a winning performance as always, his drunken master style is the closest you can get to the real thing, and his some of his stunts are pretty brutal such as being on the bed real coals. It's hard to believe he was 40 and still took all this punishment when this movie came out. As for other performances, Anita Mui nicely complements Jackie Chan with some hysterics of her own and it's always great to see Ti Lung back. Now back to the fights, possibly Jackie's greatest 1 vs. the world type of fight is contained in this movie when he is in the Teahouse even though he does have some help from Lau Kar-Leung and then probably the greatest 1 on 1 duel ever put to film. Jackie Chan vs. Ken Lo is a fight that needs to be seen to be believed. Mere words cannot describe the sheer awesomeness that comes from this scenes. At the end of the day this is truly a must see film even if you are not a fan of martial arts movies you can't help but marvel at the fights.
6
Die Hard 1988,  R)
Die Hard
One of the greatest action movies ever made. Bruce Willis is perfect as the smart ass cop as is Alan Rickman as the mastermind criminal and with the action scenes it all come together to make one hell of a movie.
7
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 2002,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
I love this movie. You may have to watch this movie a 2nd time to get a good feel for it but it gets better every time. Another classic Star Wars film.
8
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 1999,  PG)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
It may be the weakest of the Star Wars movies but it's still pretty damn good.

Lat sau san taam (Hard-Boiled) 1992,  R)
Lat sau san taam (Hard-Boiled)
You cannot call yourself an action movie fan if you haven't seen this film. Hard Boiled is one of the greatest action films of all time. This is the true John Woo and not the shadow of himself that appears today directing movies such as Paycheck. You get amazing shoot outs where nobody is safe and an awesome soundtrack that suits the action on screen perfectly. It all culminates in the SINGLE GREATEST SHOOTOUT EVER!!!! It must be capitalized because it really is that good. Sadly this was the end of one of the greatest director/actor combinations ever.
10
Oldboy 2004,  R)
Oldboy
Wow! That's all I can say.
11
Supercop (Police Story 3) (Ging chaat goo si 3: Chiu kap ging chaat) 1992,  R)
Supercop (Police Story 3) (Ging chaat goo si 3: Chiu kap ging chaat)
This is the 2nd sequel to the Police Story series and it doesn't disappoint. Jackie Chan pulls of some of his craziest stunts yet and Michelle Yeoh is almost as crazy as Jackie if not more in this film.
12
The Killer (Dip huet seung hung) 1989,  R)
The Killer (Dip huet seung hung)
Once again John Woo proves he is the ultimate action director. Some of Woo's greatest shootouts are in this movie and this is arguably his best movie ever made. The acting is solid from the entire cast and the movie is about the story line with shootouts whereas Hard Boiled was all about the action.
13
Bo bui gai wak (Rob-B-Hood) (Robin-B-Hood) 2006,  Unrated)
Bo bui gai wak (Rob-B-Hood) (Robin-B-Hood)
One of the best movies of 2006. Very funny movie mixed with classic Jackie Chan action. This isn't primarily an action movie as you would expect from Jackie Chan but that doesn't matter because everything else is so great. Special mention to Louis Koo for his performance. He's so out of character compared to his other movies and that's what it makes the performance so great.
14
Raiders of the Lost Ark (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) 1981,  PG)
15
Batman Begins 2005,  PG-13)
Batman Begins
Easily the best superhero movie ever.
16
Rocky Balboa 2006,  PG)
Rocky Balboa
One of the best movies to come out this year and by far the best since the original. This returns the Rocky movies to their roots and not one music montage after another (although there is still the classic training scene). Great performances from the entire cast especially Stallone who shows why he was once hailed as one of the great young actors for the first Rocky. I can't give my praise enough for how good this movie is.
17
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 1989,  PG-13)
18
Police Story (Ging chaat goo si) (Police Force) 1985,  PG-13)
Police Story (Ging chaat goo si) (Police Force)
The quintessential Jackie Chan film. The mall fight is truly a classic of the genre.
19
Rocky 1976,  PG)
Rocky
This is the best of all the Rocky movies. It
actually shows that Stallone can act in a film despite a lot of the junk he has made over the years.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 2002,  PG-13)
21
Aliens 1986,  R)

Versus 2000,  R)
Versus
This movie is like nothing you have ever seen before. Guaranteed. The horror, action and comedy come together to make one of the most inventive movies I've seen in a long time. It is also probably the only movie I've seen that has been able to fuse gangsters, zombies, swords, kung-fu, guns and zombies with guns. Manages to throw in a ton of gore to. The cinematography was great and the soundtrack was perfect. As mentioned before the action is very good and comes often and the comedy is subtle but still provides some very funny moments. A must see movie.
23
Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991,  R)
24
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King 2003,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Best LotR movie and one of the best movies of all time. It is always exciting but be aware that this is a very long movie. And with the extended edition you are looking at a 4 hour movie. In regards to people's complaints about too many endings, I feel that it was a perfect way to to tie up the series and wouldn't you want a little closure concerning all these characters after how much time you have put into watching them?
25
The Godfather, Part II 1974,  R)
26
The Godfather 1972,  R)
27
Bullet in the Head (Die xue jie tou) 1990,  R)
Bullet in the Head (Die xue jie tou)
A radically different John Woo movie but still a classic in it's own right. It is by far his most intense and serious movie ever made. The acting is superb especially by Jacky Cheung and Tony Leung. The characters are the most fully developed from any Woo movie and you really feel for them as the movie is happening. There is still his classic action scenes complete with requisite slow motion but this movie is not for the faint of heart as it is probably the most graphic Woo movie.

The Rock 1996,  R)
29
Jurassic Park 1993,  PG-13)

Chinjeolhan geumjassi (Lady Vengeance) (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance) 2005,  R)

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot) 2002,  R)
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (Boksuneun naui geot)
This movie is dark and depressing. But it is also an exceptionally well made film. The cinematography was excellent as were the performances notably the two male leads. I also enjoyed the fact that there was very little music utilized throughout the movie. Altogether it is another masterpiece from Park Chan-wook and even though for me it is the weakest of his "Vengeance" trilogy that does not lessen the sheer artistic quality and impact this movie has.

Memories of Murder (Salinui chueok) 2003,  Unrated)
Memories of Murder (Salinui chueok)
Do you like serial killer movies? Did you think Se7en was the best one ever made? While you obviously have not seen Memories of Murder. This is the best serial killer movie ever and yet another stellar movie from South Korea. Song Kang-ho turns in another great performance affirming himself as one of the top talents working today. The rest of the cast is also strong working off of Kang-ho. Bong Joon-ho also shows off why he is one of the greatest living directors. He started here on how you take a genre of movies that are full of cliches and make it new again. He did it once again 3 years later in The Host and who knows what genre he will take apart and make his own next. This movie is funny, scary, dramatic and thrilling all at once. Great cinematography, awesome soundtrack, and spot on performances and directing. See this movie as soon as you possibly can.

Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower) 2006,  R)
Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower)
One of the best of 2006. Zhang Yimou shows us once again how to make a Wu Xia movie with finally reaching the perfect balance between the drama and action that was uneven in both Hero and House of Flying Daggers. It is the most beautiful looking movie ever, from the set designs to the costumes, everything looks magnificent. The performances are solid all around from the beautiful Gong Li playing the Empress perfectly, and Chow Yun Fat giving a solid performance as always as the Emperor. And if anybody was doubting Chow Yun Fat and him being the coolest and most bad ass actor in the world after his US movies, this will show you he hasn't changed one bit. The music is also great which fits in with the whole epic scope of the storyline as does the action. Overall this is a must see movie and almost guaranteed to be better than anything that you will see out of North America.

Hero 2002,  PG-13)
Hero
This movies takes the Wu Xia genre of movies and gives it a whole new name. This is Zhang Yimou's first foray into these type of movies but you think he would have been doing it for years. Exceptionally well acted, beautiful to look at and solid action scenes too. A masterpiece in film making.
