25 of my favourite films of all time (plus a documentary thrown in there for good measure) in no real particular order. Everyone, and I do mean everyone should see each one of these at least once.

  ehmjay's Rating My Rating
1
The Godfather 1972,  R)
The Godfather
Quite possibly the finest film ever made.
2
All That Jazz 1979,  R)
All That Jazz
Absolutely incredible. After one viewing it instantly shot into my favourites. If you love theatre, or film, and have ever struggled to create art, this is the film for you.
3
Annie Hall 1977,  PG)
Annie Hall
Allen's finest film... not his funniest but by far his finest film.
4
Manhattan Murder Mystery 1993,  PG)
Manhattan Murder Mystery
Such a great (and somewhat obscure) Allen film. Right up there with Annie Hall.
5
The Exorcist 1973,  R)
The Exorcist
What can you say? It's the greatest horror film ever made. I recommend the directors cut (extended).
6
Children of Men 2006,  R)
Children of Men
The best film of the year. Should have gotten more credit at the Oscars than it did. If you haven't seen it - go get it NOW!
7
Hard Candy 2005,  R)
Hard Candy
The finest film of 2006! Absolutely incredible! Ellen Page is INCREDIBLE! You MUST see this film.
8
The Dark Knight 2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
The film of the year. Not only is it one of the best superhero films of all time, I would argue its one of the all time greatest films. Absolutely fantastic. Nolan's finest hour. I really, truly mean that.
9
Love and Death 1975,  PG)
Love and Death
Allen's Funniest hands down. I defy you to watch this film and not laugh.
10
The Sting 1973,  PG)
The Sting
A favourite of mine since a young, young age. A true classic. If you love Ocean's 11 you must see this film. Gangsters, Ragtime, and Conmen - how can you go wrong?
11
Boogie Nights 1997,  R)
Boogie Nights
My favourite of P.T. Anderson's films. An all star cast many of whom give the performance of their career. Not only is the film a fascinating look into the 1970s porno era, it also contains some of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen on film.
12
Psycho 1960,  R)
Psycho
The greatest thriller ever made. It just doesn't get better than this. Hitchcock at his prime!
13
This Is Spinal Tap 1984,  R)
This Is Spinal Tap
The greatest rockumentary about a fictional heavy metal band I've ever seen. This is no "Shit Sandwich"! Probably one of the best films of the 1980s. If you don't like it the first time watch it again, and again. Eventually you'll be quoting it constantly. If only the rating system went to 11.
14
Memento 2000,  R)
Memento
OH MAN. What a film. One of the best films ever. And it's still good every time I watch it - and not only that I notice something new every time!
15
Snatch 2001,  R)
Snatch
Probably one of my all time favourite films ever, and not only that its probably one of the funniest films ever. Seriously, see it... unless the "eff-bomb" is upsetting... of course the brits make it sound so funny!
16
Seven (Se7en) 1995,  R)
Seven (Se7en)
In my opinion, Fincher's best film (admittedly I like it more than Fight Club, but only a little bit). If you haven't seen it, rent it now. Then watch Fight Club.
17
Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1974,  PG)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
A comedy classic. More or less the greatest and most influential Brit Comedy film of all time.
18
Fight Club 1999,  R)
Fight Club
Love this film. Can't say much other than SEE IT!
19
Ocean's Eleven 2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
Awesome! Great fun! Exudes coolness.
20
Moulin Rouge! 2001,  PG-13)
Moulin Rouge!

21
Hedwig and the Angry Inch 2001,  R)
22
The Shawshank Redemption 1994,  R)
The Shawshank Redemption
Probably one of the finest films ever made. If you haven't seen this film yet go out and rent it RIGHT NOW!
23
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2004,  R)
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Another must see. It's absolutely incredible, and one of the best "Romance" films of all time. Proof that Carrey CAN act!
24
Shaun of the Dead 2004,  R)
Shaun of the Dead
Oh man. Probably one of the best comedies of the past 5 years, and best of all it has Zombies. Really, can you ask for anything more? (And if you like this show be sure to check out Spaced - their TV series)
25
The French Connection 1971,  R)
26
Bowling for Columbine 2002,  R)
Bowling for Columbine
One of the best documentaries ever made, certainly Moore's best. Yes, it may be somewhat unbalanced, but that doesn't dilute the message. A very important film that should be seen by all.
