Unlike my friend, I enjoyed this film A LOT. I thought the story was intriguing and just showed the harsh realities of what some people do and what others pay the consequence for. I think the acting was amazing for all the characters and the music (especially with Sigur Ros) was spectacular. The story also didn't slow down at points, there was always something to keep it going. If you're homophobic, well you will hate this film, but I think all the people that are like "I'm so for gay rights" should watch this, because this really separates if you're for it like me, or if you want to feel part of a fad. Anyway, a beautiful film, I love it, and am gonna watch it again and again.
Another Edgar Wright classic. Sure, it doesn't have Simon Pegg or Nick Frost, but it's so great and uses the cast to it's full potential. The writing and editing is still as witty and quick as ever. And the concept is so fun and goofy that you'll fall in love with it at one point or another. Sure there are some long-ish parts, but it's easily forgiven since the rest of the movie is so damn good.
The most beautiful thing I've seen in my life. Seriously, Iceland's landscapes know no bounds and it's shown in it's truest form in this with the spectacular band Sigur Ros. It documents Sigur Ros going back to Iceland after touring the world and playing a bunch of free unannounced concerts for the Icelandic people. The editing is some of the best I've ever seen and the directing is great, but obviously the real show stopper is the band. Sigur Ros, one of my favourite bands before the film has been elevated to probably my favourite band of all time. Just the intricate songs that convey so much emotion through the graceful Jón ór Birgisson is a real sight to see. From the epic "Glósóli" to the enchanting "Hoppipola" to the moving "Von" to the perfect ending with "Popplagið" and "Samskeyti", it's one of the greatest experiences ever and I wish I could have been there or just meet these amazing people.
Probably one of the best comedies ever made, Marcello Mastroianni's acting is beyond amazing and within itself hilarious. Also the story is insane and has such great twists!
Without a doubt, the most powerful film I have seen in my film. The acting is phenomenal, the cinematography and editing is second to none, and the story and writing is just unbelievable. The end monologue with Max von Sydow is gripping, sad, and outstanding. I've never said "Holy Shit" so many times in my life, but then when you get to the last ten minutes, everything is silenced in the room and you are experiencing the most intense, moving, tragic, heartbreaking, remorseful, and powerful scenes ever filmed. I couldn't talk and still can't talk, because this film is just that fucking good. The rape scene is horrifying and unbearable to watch, while the revealing of the murder will make your jaw drop. Then the revenge with Max von Sydow is uncompromising, intense, and chilling. A brilliant film and one film that I'd play all over again right after watching if there wasn't a possibility of me dying from exactly how tragic it is, which is no doubt because of all the aforementioned things.
One of the best films I've ever seen, seriously in my top 5 or 10. Just brilliant, a film ahead of it's time, the story is told so well with great cinematography and directing from Federico Fellini, it just makes every shot like a work of art. Then Marcello Mastroianni's acting is perfect and this film shows his acting capabilities really well. Seriously, one of the greatest movies ever made.
A great really well shot and made film, that strikes your emotions heavily. I was stunned the whole time with my hand covering my mouth in anticipation or shock. Truly a classic film.
A masterful work of art. Seriously, what happened to films being like this? Where to start... the acting, great, especially from Toshiro Mifune (like always). The shots are just phenomenal and there are some great cuts, while the story is both intense, comedic, and at the end, very moving. A friggin' excellent film, not my favourite Kurosawa, but that's because his others are so good as well!
If it wasn't for the lame final skit that lasts about for about like 8 minutes, this would be one of the best things ever. So basically, the rest of it was insanely funny and awesome and the final bit was just lame. Gotta love Dico and the whole mustard thing!
I was surprised by exactly how much I loved this film. Ridiculously well edited and shot with great performances on all fronts, especially Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Definition of a badass in my mind. The dialogue is also fresh and quick. Also the seemingly moderate length goes by incredibly fast, because the film is so good at sucking you in. The film contains some great twists and an excellent soundtrack as well. Without a doubt, one of my favourite movies of all time.
Better than the original CKY video, because of obviously higher budget and just better stunts, but I give it the same score just because like any Jackass-esque to come after there are gonna hit and miss stunts, however most of the ones in here are great.
Very good and entertaining movie of just the CKY fraternity doing funny and stupid stunts. There really is no depth to it and I don't expect there to be, so it's just fun to watch and chill out for once. There are a lot of skating bits which are kind of hit and miss for me, as they are impressive, they aren't really too entertaining. Still it's 66 minutes of fun and that's all that matters.
The best fucking documentary of all time, not only does it have just awesome interviews with the Gallaghers, Damon Albarn, 3D, Jarvis Cocker, etc., but it tells the story of one of my most favourite genres of music, Britpop and just captures everything great about it and England in the time. So well done and so fucking interesting, I love it man!
My favorite zombie movie and George A. Romero's best movie. This is a classic that has Romero's social commentary and his great directing that brings an experience that will appeal to anyone.
First off, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, though I was disappointed by the lack of shirtless scenes he's still my (second) favourite actor and he's still friggin' great as always! Secondly, this film is hilarious, extremely well done, and edited! Honestly, an insane achievement in film! Writing, great by the way. I wish it was longer!!! But oh well, time to re-watch "Brick" and "Mysterious Skin"! Oh yeah... Zooey Deschanel was cool too, though a bitch.
Fuckin' hilarious. Is basically all I can say. NO, actually there's more... A LOT MORE. The cast is amazing aside from the random British comedians we have the man players such as Bill Nighy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Nick Frost, and Rhys Ifans who are just friggin' unbelievably hilarious and basically gods. But the film is just made legendary by just how great it is and that sense of epicness when you have everyone in the ship together. It's moments like that which make the film like "Holy crap, this is awesome." Also it's extremely well written and everyone does a great job acting which makes it even funnier. I can definitely say it stands up to stuff like "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Hot Fuzz", since they are some of my favourite films of ALL TIME. Sure, maybe it's a bit slow in some parts, but it never lacks the humor and the great 60's style. Before I go to listen to some music, that's another point. Soundtrack is PERFECT, not a weak song on there and it all fits perfectly.
This is seriously one of the best films ever made, let alone, (from what I've seen) the best film adaptation of Hamlet. The shots are so well crafted and the acting is so powerful, it's a constantly enthralling experience. The representation of the ghost in the first 20 minutes of the film is a perfect example of just how the great lighting and camerawork give everything this intense feel. Even when Hamlet is just talking to himself, which is usually boring in the play, is not boring in the film, because the performances are just that great. Grigori Kozintsev really made this his own and just ran with it. So friggin' good.
A great action thriller by Chan-wook Park. The acting in this is really good, if you ignore the bad dubbing, and the last 20 minutes of the movie just leave you stunned until it's over.
I was shocked by how much I loved this film, so much was done right and thank god for it. I'll get the bad bits out of the way, which mainly is the weird intermission through use of pictures was long and obnoxious after a while and also the end was eh, but stayed somewhat truthful so I guess it's cool. On the hand, the film is great, the shots are top notch, the script has awesome lines and is very funny, and above all the Paul Newman and Robert Redford are so boss. They are soooo badass and enjoyable to watch on screen together, loved this film!!!
Great great stuff, that's enhanced with the higher resolution cameras and stuff, but the editing is much lazier then CKY2K, where that's just off the friggin' charts. Still highly enjoyable and insanely crude, but that's what I love about all the CKY, Jackass, Viva La Bam shit.
Brilliantly well done overall. Guy Ritchie's directing and editing is still in full force with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law having their awesome "bromance" in the midst of all the hilarity and violence. Also gotta love Mark Strong whom I'm hoping is the new Jason Statham of Guy Ritchie films.
