The Iron Lady
PG-13
As everyone else will say about this movie, Meryl Streep did a great job. That being said, the movie itself is quite a mixed bag. The pacing is weird and the story is all over the place, though, the setting is well done, you rarely see it. Intricate set pieces of England were replaced with closed in, indoor shots and dark rooms for most of the running time. Also the cinematography is downright poor, I want to watch a movie, not The Office, camera is swaying around all over the place and the movie tries too hard to be an art film. Also this movie focuses way too much on the emotional baggage of her husband dying, than the actual Thatcher story, it gives such a depressing tone, that I really felt like shit after seeing this movie.
All I can really give this movie credit for is a shallow look at Margaret Thatcher's life, being somewhat interesting and Meryl Streep and Alexandra Roach both giving great performances to represent her. Though, J. Edgar wasn't a masterpiece, it shines in comparison to this.
PROS: Meryl Streep, Alexandra Roach, setting
CONS: Poor cinematography, bad pacing, unnecessarily depressing, tries too hard to be artsy, shallow
Attack the Block

An effective horror/comedy/action flick, it impresses on a base level, but many flaws are abound. First off, the cast is great and equally great are the aliens in the movie, actually the visual style overall is pretty awesome and cool looking. The kids are pretty entertaining and though the main female protagonist is pretty cliche, it doesn't get annoying. The concept of the movie is fantastic, but the execution is pretty good, not great. It kind of looses the initial appeal by the end for a more heroic horror movie finale, instead of sticking with the theme. Also for a movie called "Attack The Block" there really isn't that much action, not only is the movie short, but there are only a few kills on both sides.
Either way, the movie is definitely a unique gem of the genre, but a few tweaks to the film and maybe somewhat better writing and directing and this could have been a modern masterpiece, as of now, it's just a good popcorn flick, which isn't bad... just wish it was taken to the next level.
PROS: Funny, great cast, visually stunning, unique concept, avoids most cliches
CONS: Short, action is lacking, the few human deaths are cheap and disappointing, loses steam by the end

Unlike my friend, I enjoyed this film A LOT. I thought the story was intriguing and just showed the harsh realities of what some people do and what others pay the consequence for. I think the acting was amazing for all the characters and the music (especially with Sigur Ros) was spectacular. The story also didn't slow down at points, there was always something to keep it going. If you're homophobic, well you will hate this film, but I think all the people that are like "I'm so for gay rights" should watch this, because this really separates if you're for it like me, or if you want to feel part of a fad. Anyway, a beautiful film, I love it, and am gonna watch it again and again.

One of my favorite, if not my favorite horror movie of all time. The music is enchanting, while the violence is visually spectacular and gruesome.
