The Dictator
R
A decent comedy that overall holds up better than Borat, but really suffers from not being that funny. Generally, Baron Cohen is an entertaining dictator and the supporting cast is decent at reacting to the situations, but the jokes themselves are severely hit and miss. Thankfully, there are slightly more hits than misses. Also at the 83 minute run time, it's really hard to do much worse, unless you get easily offended.
PROS: The Dictator's character, great laughs mid-way through, short movie
CONS: Dreadful beginning and end, pretty hit and miss
American Gangster
R
A mostly successful gangster movie, all the roles are great and well played especially by Russell Crowe and Josh Brolin. The movie is long as hell, but does keep your interest for most of it, especially near the end, however Denzel Washington's character ranges from kind of likable to total douche, which would be fine if the movie wasn't shooting mixed messages at you the whole time. Either way, it's a well told story with a great cast and memorable moments. Overall, check it out.
PROS: Great cast, interesting story, good pacing
CONS: Denzel is a mixed bag, no Andre 3k, random ending

Unlike my friend, I enjoyed this film A LOT. I thought the story was intriguing and just showed the harsh realities of what some people do and what others pay the consequence for. I think the acting was amazing for all the characters and the music (especially with Sigur Ros) was spectacular. The story also didn't slow down at points, there was always something to keep it going. If you're homophobic, well you will hate this film, but I think all the people that are like "I'm so for gay rights" should watch this, because this really separates if you're for it like me, or if you want to feel part of a fad. Anyway, a beautiful film, I love it, and am gonna watch it again and again.

One of my favorite, if not my favorite horror movie of all time. The music is enchanting, while the violence is visually spectacular and gruesome.
