Hope is a beautiful thing.Hope can set you free,if you're being deliberated .Thats what this movie all abt. The one thing which makes this movie stand above all other films, is the attention given to the story. The film depends on the story and the way in which it unravels. It's a powerful, poignant, thought-provoking, challenging film like no other.Im glad this movie had been made
Everything about this film is just absolutely terrific.Kurosawa's blend of stellar craft, captivating cinematography, ravishing art direction, and unforgettable characters makes this one of the most intelligent films ever made. What a wise way to spend 3 and a half hours seeing this one. This is seriously one of the masterpiece in whole flix history. One of the greatest movie ever.Dont call yer self flixster or movie buff,if you haven't seen this one.
Amazing!!I'll give four thumbs up for this movie,if i got another two.People really should get out of their box to see the real life around, before really decided to put any changes toward this world.
A fantastic journey of The young rebel known as "The infamous"Che guevara, that will touch anyone's heart who see this movie.
This is one of the best thing mankind ever produced. No wonder,Al Pacino won his first oscar after nominated for 7 times previously. This movie is abt how people should take action when they come at their crossroad of their lives. This movie is brilliant.A pure classic everyone must see.
How far will you go if you're racing with your own ambition?Would you kill your own brother and jeopardizing your own family?Or put human race in an extinction point? One of the best movie in 2005.A must see.
All of the acting in this film is first rate, and the ending wasnt quite as predictable as others might have you believe...it is quite shocking, as is much of the film. It causes quite a debate on the way people view others whos skin color is not the same. As Dr. King said, "Judge me not on the color of my skin, but on the content of my character."This is certainly a 5 stars flick anyone should see.
Honestly,i feel deeply moved by this film. Its a very well made and directed flick.Powerful and provocative in its indirect and subtle jabs at the west for not intervening into such a horror that took place in Rwanda.Don Cheadle's performance was stunning, and incredible.I can even feel his passion and emotion inside this flick. It feel so great witnessing a great movie like this in our most recent crappy age.
Adapted from Kaysen's memoir, the film works well to bring Kaysen's' words to life. The parts that were altered for the screenplay made sense, allowing the story to translate well to the screen. Additionally, the length of the film allowed for more depth and details to be explored, which sometimes left out of Kaysen's short novel. Thus, the film helped add onto and bring more understanding to characters which were introduced in the novel.
This is a strong, good script, great casting, excellent acting, and over the top directing flick.Even if the viewer does not like mafia type of movies, they will watch the entire film, the audiences is eventually glued to what will happen next as the film progresses. An artistic and memorable flick anyone should see.Two massive thumbs up!
There are certain films that get under my skin, never to come out. They change my life, subtly altering my perceptions of reality, almost always for the better. And Dead poets society is one of those few films.A definitive masterpiece.
Long live Charlize! Her performance has always been mesmerized my self. She's a true and brilliant actress.Basically, its a brilliant movie, with the brilliant actress. Its a wonderful true story abt brave women who fought for what they deserves in this Survival of the fittest jungle so called world. You done it again, girl!
Really, really good flick.Powerful story line,Terrific screenplay, combined with the powerful casts and director shall delivered a powerful flick.Living-legend Jack Nicholson flawlessly delivers one of his best performances in years.Nicholson's nuanced acting was so on-point.And Even Leonardo's performance was tremendous, way better than Matt damon's performance,i think.
Never thought that in the past short years,The high & Mighty Hollywood, keep bombing it's market with some great flix. And this one is certainly one of them. Its so powerful and amazing. In Blood Diamond, it is Mr. DiCaprio's performance that raises this film above it's standard Hollywood fare of a script (although it is a solid script) into something memorable. However,if one of my flixter fellow mentioned about TIA (This Is Africa),this was not quite as good as Hotel Rwanda, but absolutely better than The Interpreter, The Constant Gardener, and The Last King of Scotland.
This is a truly incredible, yet horrifying experience. The film seemingly pulls the audience into the middle of the war, with explosions and bullets going off everywhere, and disturbing screams of agony coming from the wounded soldiers. The film can be confusing at times, with the Japanese language and sudden attacks and explosions, but things are all cleared up at the end.Clint Eastwood has really outdone himself this time, at the age of 76,he has created one of the best war films in history.
The complex and layered tale that unfolds in Run Lola Run is amazingly and almost unbelievably made better through the editing, film footage style, and soundtrack. The unusually dramatic images and different style than other films of the latter 90's sets Run Lola Run in a class of it's own. This flick grabs the audience from the very beginning and proceeds to take them on an intense ride filled with lows and highs.Franka Potente's performance was tremendous. No wonder this stunning and brilliantly edited flick won many awards at the Sundance Film Festival.
The performances in this film simply make it even more memorable and how the characters are portrayed here especially by Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci (who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor), and Paul Sorvino are believable and easy to understand that they were a family, very close and tightly knit to the core. There isn't a single moment in the movie where it doesn't miss a beat, you could only tell by the atmosphere of the time period and it seems so real.
One of the masterpiece from Scorsese.Priceless!
"Blow" displays a consistent and detailed portrait of the spectacular rise, and dramatic fall, of George Jung and his travel towards turning powder cocaine into American's biggest drug problem. Ted Demme's direction is vivid, determined, and stylish. He reportedly conducted many interviews with the real life George Jung, as he makes very clear the early high life, and the dangerous reality of a drug smuggler's everyday lifestyle. Demme is careful to stay away from frequent potential distractions, like the drug use, side characters, family issues, and romantic interests. This is a vivid narrative of a very interesting character. It does display a message about drugs that we have seen before, but never in this stylishly innovative light.
This is an awesome re-enactment of a true story - powerful, moving, raw, real - and even funny in parts. It's rare a great film like this is made, especially these days.
When the world went awfully wrong, all we ever dreamed was escape from it.A pretty sad story abt Ofelia,a young Spanish girl who lives inside her own imaginary world, and having more faith towards it than she does for the real world. In my own opinion, this is one of the most decent work from Del Toro.It contained great moral messages.A wonderful and outstanding work of art.
This flick is totally awsome!Great plots, great stories..but out of all those great things,Daniel day lewis is the shining star that makes this movie feels great to watch.
This is an honest, meaningful film that will stay with you long after you leave the theatre. The viewer becomes fully invested in the struggles of Chris Gardner and his son.The real-life father and son dynamic enriched the film and don't know if other actors could have been as powerful.Mr.Smith's performance is getting better and better. Now hear me please,Will..Just drop yer rap career. You're getting sux and fucked on that.Just stick to acting,please....
Deep, and crazy performance from Mr.Cage.A romantic movie shouldnt always bright. But no matter dark is the movie, you'll find the essence of love anyway.
The story based on actual event, abt some heroic passengers who put efforts to take over the plane from the hands of terrorists.I was watching it late at night, and kept thinking abt this flick even when i went to sleep.I am a muslim, and i feel really sad plus humiliated for what happened with the 9/11 events. For as far as im concerned,Islam never taught The Ummah for having such a barbaric combatant attitude, spreading terror and killing tons of innocent people. My opinion is,whoever the hijackers and the terrorists really are, they're not muslim, and they had done a terrible blasphemy to the face of Islam.Jihad is not to offend or killing innocent people. This is not a popcorn flick and should not be seen for entertainment.
Please watch this and think about how your "vote" might go... This documentary is an eye opener to the corruption of what is supposed to be a "pure" given right of our vote and voice to be heard. But when your voice (vote) can be manipulated, then democracy is not there. This movie shows how there are three companies who provide these machines and all the so called security and accuracy they have. But the truth is shown that these machines can easily be tampered with.
Amazingly told.Simply the best. One of the most lyrical and poetic works, from Mr.Kurosawa.The flick is both a lament for the suffering caused by militarism and an outcry against the world's collective loss of memory. My most favorite scenes in the film is the sight of a colony of ants climbing the stem of a rose bush, a final epiphany suggesting that amidst the destruction, beauty and hope survive.
How can an actor terrify you without saying a word, without even hardly moving his face or body? I'm not sure how he does it, but Mr. Whitaker does it over and over again in this movie. This actor is really The bomb, and deserves an award for his performance. The way the interplay of the two lead character's cultural backgrounds plays out on screen moves the story beyond just their personalities and into the realm of incisive socio-political analysis and critique. This movie is quite incredible, really.
Since Lucas was so keen on making changes wherever he could this is obviously a tribute to the tightness of the story and the direction. It's also a tribute to the perfection of the original special effects, more innovative than the effects in the first Star Wars movie and better than the effects in any subsequent one.
Honestly, how many times have you seen a movie that, with every viewing, gets even more complicated yet so simple that you can't help but laugh. Every time I watch this movie I notice something new about it, such is the depth of what is on the screen. Then there's the tiny issue of the story of Fight Club, penned by Chuck Palahniuk (who has one of the most fertile imaginations around. Don't believe me? Read 'Survivor' and weep!) the story is nothing short of incredible, a pure shock-value social commentary on the state of the world at the end of the century. You'll cry, you'll laugh, you'll do all the clichés but most importantly you'll identify with every single thing on the screen.
"I love you without knowing how,when,or,why..."That such a nice quote. But its only one tiny spark from this movie. There are still so many sparks from it.You may be able to take everything from a good person. But not their love, spirits, soul, and courage. This is certainly excellent flick with excellent story.Wonderful and inspiring.
This is the longest of the series, mostly because of the ending that seems to last a while. This was a good ending, and I can see why Frodo did what he did. He, and us the audience, have gone through an incredible ordeal and I think we needed that 20 minute linger. When the battle is over, and the celebrations have ended, there is a sad emptiness felt. The films spanned over 3 years, there have been the extended cuts of course, but after that, it's all over. Peter Jackson gave us an ending that was both appropriate and admirable.
This is just possibly as close as the most "perfect" movie ever made. There is no meaningless dialog; not a single extraneous character; and every plot twist is rational and reasonable. The intense violence, particularly against women, it is a disturbing and difficult film to sit through.Let Kubrick take you on the emotional rollercoaster of your cinematic life. And don't forget to breathe..
Damn! This movie had to be made. And im glad it had.I like the way the plot goes.Bringing bad and dark stories through some cheerful and light but smart jokes.Very entertaining.
I love this one! This flick is good, fun and definitely better than the average slasher fare, although this really isn't a typical slasher. The score is another plus and adds an errie and cerebral feel to the film while building some great suspense.Too bad i couldnt find the DVD in both Indonesia and Australia..sigh.But i highly recommend it to anyone who interest with this kind of movie.
The prequel from the Classic "The silence of the lambs" and "Hannibal".It may not as good as the silence of the lambs. But it certainly better than Hannibal. The story is more interesting than that one.Two thumbs up.
'Wolf Creek' is one of the few good/great horror movies I've ever seen.
Part of the criticism of this movie is that it is realistically violent and brutal, but it's a juxtaposition from the first half. It's also a juxtaposition of civilized vs. uncivilized, and the sterile, uncompromising landscape of the Outback is the perfect place for this to occur. There wasn't an over the top amount of gore, which is good, because the cruelty of what the three endure is enough to churn anyone's stomach. However, the movie is not just simple exploitation - far from it, actually. It's about that deep-seated fear of the unknown, and what could happen in an unfamiliar place.
The most amazing thing about this movie is the writing. Even if the acting were not terrific, this movie still would have made my top ten list. I was captivated from beginning to end.
When this film first came out in 1980, I remember going to see it on opening night. The sheer terror that I experienced in viewing "The Shining" was enough to make me go to bed with the lights turned ON every night for an entire summer. This movie just scared the life out of me, which is what still happens every time I rent the video for a re-watch. I have seen The Shining at least six or seven times, and I still believe it to be simultaneously and paradoxically one of the most frightening and yet funniest films I've ever seen.
I never like Ashton kutcher, since he always thinks that his self is funny and shit. But through this flick,he can at least made me consider his ability in acting.Cuz in my opinion,he did his fair performance here.Out of my personal Kutcher-ish,this movie is really good.Especially it came along with an interesting concept. It's a really nice dark fantasy flick. As a "Popcorn"flick, this one is quite entertaining.
This is one of those movies that is strictly for the eye. The soundtrack by Graeme Revell was brilliant, Elizabeth Shue is absolutely stunning. In the apartment scene her eyes shine in diamond hazel colors. It was just a simply movie, decent acting, but there was something about it. It captured an essence, I can't actually describe it, it was actually corny and beautiful at the same time.
Whether you're a fan of Al Gore or not, he isn't really the issue here. He does a great job presenting the various forms of overwhelming evidence for global warming and mankind's link to it, but he doesn't do it in a political or spiteful way. He shows global temperature and atmospheric carbon patterns, and he shows that our last 20 years have been the highest by a longshot over the previous 600,000 years. Frankly, before seeing the film, I'd heard a lot of information about global warming being a myth, but this film dispels that notion with many independent pieces of evidence.
Let's admit it, it's nearly impossible to find someone or something today without a bias towards one thing or another. Fahrenheit 9/11 is clearly not an exception. I saw this film very recently and was stunned. Shocked. Michael Moore's work was thorough, concise, and extraordinary. I was truly impressed. However, there are things that the public needs to consider after seeing this movie. One- this is not the whole story.
Based on Stephen King's Short story "The Body", "Stand By Me" tells the tale of Gordie Lachance, a writer who looks back on his preteen days when he and three close friends went on their own adventure to find the body of a kid their age who had gone missing and presumed dead. The stakes are upped when the bad kids in town are closely tailing - and it becomes a race to see who'll be able to recover the body first.
This movie was entertaining and interesting, but in certain ways it left me wanting. Michael Moore himself is somewhat irritating, and I found myself wishing he kept more to the background than he does. At the same time, the conclusions that he draws are compelling and pragmatic. This movie was not designed to be an argument. It was not designed to sway the viewer. It was designed to fuel the fire of the already convinced. Though I think that this is Moore's intent (concluded from interviews I've read), I feel that goal could be reached at the same time as convincing a few fence-sitters, and that would have made the film more powerful.
It's a welcome sight to have Mr. DiCaprio working in a vehicle that shows his talent as Frank Abagnale, a man of many faces. He plays a game of hide-and-seek throughout the movie with Hanratty, the FBI agent that is in his trail. Tom Hanks shows great assurance and gusto with this character. Of course, the DiCaprio magnetism dominates the action with the many ironic twists and the miraculous and narrow escapes he pulls with an aplomb that's bewildering to the Feds, who are on his tail all the time.
The sheer vehemence felt by the residents of this Mississippi town is damn scary. This has to be the finest moment of the many acting careers, with great performances across the board. This is a gripping drama that absolutely should be part of everyone's collection.
If this flick should put inside the so called Romance genre, then it may be one of the best from it's kind.Way better than even the classic Sleepless in Seattle, because it was so realistically told, and moving. The excellent flick that will makes you smile, laugh, and cry.
The Coen's have always had limited appeal because their films are dependent on audience involvement. You have to care for the characters; you have to put yourself in the characters place. Those who don't will leave the theater going that was weird, that was stupid, and that didn't make any sense. But that's why I like their films so much.
Its good to know that there are still moral messages left in this movie.Unlike any other street race movies, this one is fun to watch.Far from Torque,The last ride,or even 2 fast 2 furious.
