My Favorite Movies

1
Stranger Than Paradise 1984,  R)
Stranger Than Paradise
This brilliant film explores the "empty moments" that truly make up the majority of a human life.
2
The Seventh Seal ,  Unrated)
3
Ed Wood 1994,  R)
Ed Wood
This is my favorite Tim Burton film. A fun depiction of part of director Ed Wood's life, this film is really about passion for films and the magic of moviemaking.
4
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein 1948,  Unrated)
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
This is the world's greatest "cross-over" movie. The monsters are as threatening as they ever were in their own series, while Abbott and Costello contribute hyper-funny performances.
5
The Love Bug 1968,  G)
The Love Bug
This film is an example of all the elements that make a movie coming together perfectly. This simple tale of an out-of-luck race driver who is "adopted" by a living car is Disney magic at its best.
6
Mystery Men 1999,  PG-13)
Mystery Men
This superhero film is a joy to watch, with great performances by an all-star cast and a great soundtrack as well. Oh, how I wish there were a sequel.
7
American Graffiti 1973,  PG)
American Graffiti
Everyone is so stuck on Star Wars, but to me American Graffiti is George Lucas' real masterpiece of a film. It is about the forces that seek to rob an individual from being master of their own fate. I'm struck by its brilliance everytime I watch.
8
The Outsiders 1983,  PG)
The Outsiders
The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous and the all-star cast is outstanding in a movie about gang fights and tragedies. I must have seen it like 15 times when it came out.
9
Never a Dull Moment 1968,  G)
Never a Dull Moment
This is a modest little Disney comedy that features Dick Van Dyke and Edward G. Robinson. It doesn't try to deliver ambitious belly-laughs, but delivers a happy episode that moves quickly along.
10
Help! 1965,  G)
Help!
If you're open to The Beatles, this movie is sooo fun! The songs are great, the cinematography is gorgeous and it's full of mirthful merriment.
11
The Mummy 1932,  Unrated)
12
The Godfather 1972,  R)
13
Black Friday 1934,  Unrated)
Black Friday
This fast-paced little thriller has a lot going for it; it's a Karloff/Lugosi team-up, it's a sci-fi/gangster cross-over, Stanley Ridges puts in an incredible performance as a man with two brains in his head.
14
The Black Cat 1934,  Unrated)
15
Mr. Bean's Holiday 2007,  G)
Mr. Bean's Holiday
A very funny comedy, full of perfect comic situations that would only happen in the Bean universe. Much better than the first Bean movie.
16
Xanadu 1980,  PG)
17
Mayor of the Sunset Strip 2003,  R)
